This review is strictly for Darla..... It does not apply to Zero & Company, Mergim or Staff. I have depended on Darla for approximately 20+ years to prepare my taxes and for many, many years it all worked out very well for me. Last 6-7 years I've had changes in my finances and was paying more taxes at the end of each year. Darla advised me to change my withholdings to Single and $0. I immediately acted and did just that. However, that ill advise followed me each and every year.... I had to pay both state and federal taxes, in the hundreds and even in the thousands... Each year I depended on Darla to assess my withholdings and she'd continue saying, go 'Single and $0'..you're fine !! I'd always go back to my employer and make sure everything showed 'single and $0'.. When I filed 2022 she assured me that it would be the last year I'd have to pay the high amounts.... Smaller amount of taxes would have pacified me..... but guess what? In 2023 I paid the highest 'underpayment amounts'....plus penalties for underpayment of taxes... I was undoubtedly super upset... This time I asked her to show me exactly what I had to do to correct and redo my withholdings. I requested this information to be sent to me in writing and in laymen terms so that I could understand more clearly how to resolve this issue, after all she is the professional.. this request was made on May 2, 2024... and it fell on deaf ears because IT NEVER CAME. She totally ignored my request, even though I paid for her harsh ADVISE.. Darla showed her true colors by ignoring me. Darla, you have let me down. The office staff is helpful and courteous Dona this morning helped me with challenges with my mail for IRS. She did not turn me down instead went out of her way to help me. We have been seeing Darla for years for our Taxes. We trust her and drop our tax paper for her at the office and we get our taxes done on time by her. She will personally call us regarding any issues. She tries to do as much possible to help you with your taxes. She is very flexible during tax season. Go no further if you want quality taxes done. Mergim Zero is one of the best accountants. Professional, responsive, and informative. I highly recommend him for personal, estate, and corporate filings. My sister and I have a complicated tax situation, due to probate, stock gains, and day jobs. Zero said it was no problem, all we had to do is email him all our paperwork, he kept us informed throughout the whole process by calling and emailing. He takes his time with his clients, never rushed on a phone call with my tax questions. He responded to my emails on the weekends. Honestly, I don't know how he does it, but I'm glad he does. I dropped off my paperwork on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 they reviewed & said no one is able to do the work at this time. Their hours are from Mon-Thurs 09:30-15:30 because it's not tax season. But yet, no one is able to do it. If they had told me this earlier, I could have gone and done this elsewhere. Wtf?! Kind of business is this? Maybe if they actually stay Mon-Friday at their regular business hours, then they can actually get things done. It's really uncool to leave a new client hanging knowing trying to file this by the filing date of Oct 17, 2016. They should have said from the get go that they are not taking anymore clients or they are swamped to take on a client to file for 2015. Update 10.19.16 I just checked in my Yelp inbox that I got an angry message from this place of business & threaten me with a defamation if I don't remove my review. I have until November 18, 2016, to remove it. Let me save you the trouble, my review stays & I stand by it. What ever happen to Freedom of Speech? Am I not allowed to publicly give my honest opinion based on my experience? I hope other YELPERS doesn't get intimidated by this type of business-owner-defamation-bully that you must give them 5 Stars. It is within our rights: called FREEDOM OF SPEECH, the First Amendment. There's also an anti-SLAPP law. I'd love to post a screen shot of said message, but I'm waiting for the Yelp legal support team to respond back. I was going to update my review after one of the staffs apologized to give it more STARS but after that 'defamation message' from M.Z. I've decided not to. Update 10.20.16: What you lack to understand is as a consumer & a professional business owner there should have been: 1. notification prior or over the phone that there isn't a guarantee that my case will be taken. Because I wouldn't have taken the risk. 2. How long the review will take 3. I've even asked if I should make an appointment before dropping it off except the lady said no, just drop it off. Appointment come later. 4. I've made the deadline very clear to the lady I talked to on the phone, so she knew I was on a time crunch. Thus for the question on #3. 5. Take criticism from a reviewer 6. Don't publicly apologize and threaten a reviewer privately, it says a lot about a character. Also, you need 2 months to do 1 taxes? Fact straight on my taxes: there's no husband & wife, you sure you got the tax case correct? Let's make a deal, I'll take your "rejection" since you seem so in tune with my emotion and you'll take this review; case closed, let's move on because I have and was able to file on time with someone I'm satisfied with, so I'm very GRATEFUL that you rejected me...so GRATEFUL that I was willing to change my review until you threatened me. Sir, you really oughta focus on your current clients of 30 years because 2017 is around the corner & by the sound of it, you should get to work & make preparations since it'll take you about 2-3 months to file 1 tax return & you don't want to make the mistake of filing Married with Head of Household or with Single. So please stop harassing me and just take the criticism as I've taken your "rejection." read more

I have worked with Zero & Company for the past few years for our personal and corporate taxes. They are very easy to work with and speak numbers to me in a way that I understand. They help with strategic planning, and even have some great marketing ideas. The first year we worked with them they found a bunch of errors not in our favor on our last tax return with the past CPA. However, upon stumbling upon this profile for Mergim Zero of Zero & Company Accounting Services, I could not let the cumulative "3 star" standing "stand." So I created an account to log my personal experience. I am a 50 something woman who has had her taxes prepared by a variety of accountants over the years. I've owned several companies, some real estate, and have extremely high standards for not only my own, personal work product, but those of whom I hire. Like my accountant. Hopefully this serves to establish that I've been around the block a few times, and know to do things like prepare timely and show consideration to the accounting firm trying to do the best job they can by you. I have been in the care of Mr. Mergim Zero for several years now, and cannot say enough about his extraordinary depth and breadth of knowledge, impeccable work ethic, and genuinely caring heart. This is the guy who will schedule conference calls with you at 10 PM Saturday or 7 AM Sunday if that's what best suits your schedule, to ensure your needs are met in spite of his demanding scheduled esp. at tax time. In fact, the very first time we communicated, I was a brand new client and he called me from Hawaii in the middle of his vacation, to address some urgent issues for me! Talk about responsive! His insights into my affairs and sound recommendations assure me that I am paying my fair share of taxes, and no more. I've not generally had this level of comfort with past accountants, and in fact, am pretty sure I've overpaid. But they just didn't give my account the type of attention or focus required. I've read twice now the negative post of what I can only surmise to be a young woman (from the abundance of sushi and massage parlor/spa reviews - many likewise scathing....) who has regrettably skewed the ranking of this outstanding accountant here on Yelp.
