Was looking for a place that had food our 4 and 6 year old grandsons could eat, so after much…read moresearching online, we decided to give this place a try. First of all, the bar height only tables are not conducive to bringing small kids to a restaurant. The adults were nervous trying to make sure they didn't fall off the bar height chairs. I had the burger with the egg on it. Loved everything about this burger. Both burger and egg cooked perfectly. Wife had the Hawaiian burger, which she thought was delicious. Brother-in-law had the burger with the mac and cheese with the mac and cheese on the side; he absolutely raved about the mac and cheese. For appetizers, we bought the pepperjack bites and the spicy green beans. The green beans were fabulous, although I would have enjoyed dipping them in a spicier ranch than regular ranch, although it was very good ranch. We all ordered the french fries and onion rings with our dishes. All of us agreed both the rings and the fries were on the greasy side. I think the greasiness of the fries is what gave my stomach some issues later. The bartender who took care of me paying the bill was very nice. Big, welcoming, friendly smile; pleasant attitude and communication. The service industry needs more people like this guy. Would definitely try this place again to try something else on their vast menu. Might have to not eat for about two days so I can try the double patty hamburger with the fried chicken in the middle of the sandwich. Or their fried peanut butter and jelly. Or wings with their multitude of flavors of sauces and spices.

It's stunning inside. I hope to come back and see some kind of production in the future. They give excellent tours. Definitely check this out if you're cruising Route 66!

Absolutely Gorgeous!…read more This theater was built in one year by businessman George Coleman Sr. because he wanted vaudville to come to Miami, OK. That's pronounced "My-am-uh" The outside is notable. The inside is palacial. Gifted to the city by the decendant of the original owner, the city thought to knock it down. It was in need of restoration and the city did not have the funds. Local citizens banded together to save this theater from demolition doing repairs themselves, a little at a time as the money trickled in. Boy has that labor of love been worth it! The original 1928 Wurlitzer organ was sold after the advent of modern movies when it was no long necessary for live music to accompany films. During the restoration process a stranger overheard a conversation about locating the origial organ to reinstall it at the theater. This stranger knew who owned that organ! After much fundraising, the original organ is back in it's place. The theater has remained open through the years for vaudville, stars of stage and screen performed here, movies from silent era to today, community theater group performances and they host the local elementary school Christmas concerts. Volunteer docents give tours of the lobby and theater to visitors. There is no fee, but they accept donations toward continued restoration. Definitely worth a visit.

Joe Becker Stadium - Joplin Blasters game

The bright lights of the major league big cities tend to get a lot of attention, but sometimes you…read morehave something special in your own backyard that might not be as known, but is local and it's yours. Welcome to Joe Becker Stadium, Joplin's quaint and absolutely gorgeous local ball field. As you enter, through the easy concrete entry ways (there are ramps if you need them) you will find yourself very close to the action. You'll also find plenty of sections full of box seats and cup holders if you want your own seat. There are bleachers a little down both lines and behind the left field fence as well as plenty of berm seats in right field (bring a blanket) if you want to go the GA route. I mentioned right field, which is in the spotlight here because there is a small hill past the warning track that leads up to the business behind the right field wall that is in play. Have you heard of the hill at old Crosley Field in Cincinnati? This is kind of like that, but reversed and without the impound lot in the infield. It's a really cool little quirk that unfortunately during my visit, I wasn't able to see enter into play. There are a couple of things I want to highlight... the seats, especially along the field will bring you right up to the action. This is cool, but at the same time I was sitting in Row C and had trouble following the ball if it was hit, especially on the ground because I was blocked out by the batter, catcher and umpire. I also had some issues seeing far out in the outfield. Another thing is the netting behind home plate is held up by some poles that look like are lined up as best as possible with the stairs leading to the seats. One small thing is depending on your seat you're basically just staring at the pole. Luckily nobody else was in my row so I just moved over a couple of seats, but you might keep this in mind when you're buying tickets. You also might want to sit about mid way up in the section. If you're local to Joplin, please get out and enjoy your ball park. If you're travelling, please consider stopping to visit. Joe Becker Stadium is a wonderful little field and it's worth it.
