Not to be confused with Zebra Cellars, Zerba Cellars is a great winery, with a tasting room in Woodinville. And I know I mentioned not to confuse it with the striped animal, but Zerba knows it's often mistakenly known as Zebra Cellars, which is why they poke fun at themselves and have a picture of a zebra on their bottles and photos in the tasting room. It made me like them even more. We found Zerba Cellars while in Woodinville, as it was featured in our Woodinville passport book. Located on the backside of a building with other wineries, it's a little hidden, but is worth finding. There is parking in the lot for the designated businesses in the building. Once we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the friendly staff. We walked over to the bar area where they were pouring wines and told us to take a seat, as they would come to us with the wines. We took a seat at one of the tables and instantly, one of the employees asked us if he could get a water bowl for our dog. It was very thoughtful, and I just love that they're dog-friendly, unlike the neighboring wineries. For the tastings, we tried five wines: one white, three reds and one dessert wine. I didn't much care for the first one, a chardonnay, but I've never been a fan of sweet wines, like chardonnay. However, the red wines were all solid. We tried the Wild Z, a blend, a zinfandel, and a petite verdot. Of the reds, I enjoyed the Wild Z, which reminded me of a black tea with plum notes. It had a pleasant sourness to it. But I absolutely loved the dessert wine, the New Harvest. It tasted like a port that's less sweet from the red wine. It was unique and different, and would recommend trying it! I enjoyed our visit at Zerba Cellars, and will certainly be back, most likely to purchase some bottles of the New Harvest. Zerba has wonderful, friendly employees, a welcoming setting that allows dogs, and wines that will have you wanting more. See you there! read more

Occasionally an unexpected pleasure happens, and I question my extensive research and knowledge. Looking for a tasting in between our appointments at Novelty Hill and DeLille, Obelisco was closed, but around the corner in the same building was Zerba. So what the hay? Jimmy was in charge on this cloudy day of July 5th, 2021. He was helpful, fun, knowledgable, and entertaining. Perhaps it was his effect on the wines, but they were wonderful and approachable, yet with a surprising complexity. The 2018 Marilyn's Blend had depth, mellowed tannins, sophistication, almost like a Margaux. We all had a fantastic time and were sad to leave because of our appointment at DeLille. With Jimmy's help, we all purchased several bottles, and drove on to the corporate, but well run and elegant DeLille Tasting Room. Zerba Cellars is the antithesis to DeLille. It was like tasting wine in a friend's basement, quite different than the current template for tasting rooms. It was a refreshing change and Jimmy is a treasure. read more

We were driving by when my toddler REALLY needed to use the restroom. I was a bit panicked and didn't know where to go to access a public restroom in this cute little plaza. They folks in Zebra Cellars were SO nice about it and let us in. I usually would make a purchase to be a paying customer to use a private establishment but we just couldn't at that time. He was very knowledgeable of thr wines & had even traveled to Oregon to visit "the rocks" to gather more fun facts! Zerba is an Oregon winery & to learn about "the rocks" stop in & try their wine. Honestly I don't know if I've ever given a winery or tasting room this low of a review. I visited this establishment with two friends, one of which had a card for a free tasting. There wasn't any organization to the tasting. We were seated and then the man working there came by and poured a random wine. He let us know the wine was described in the ratty looking folder on the table - they could really use a clipboard, small binder, or something more sturdy and professional looking to showcase their wines. The man would then come by when our glasses looked empty and just pour whatever he happened to have poured another table. We didn't get to choose any wines and also we didn't know how many pours would be in the $10 tasting. Turns out it was 4 pours, and "pour" was a generous term here. I would say they were more like tiny sips. I'm not sure if the topper was just broken but the pours here were completely unacceptable. I would not pay $10 for a tasting here again. The only reason why this review wasn't one star was because the wine was actually quite good - from what we got from our tiny sips anyway. read more

Wife and I went in here took forever to get Some wine poured in our bottles. We bought two bottles and when paying the admitted to giving us horrible service. When we got home we realized they gave us the wrong bottle, when calling to exchange or refund they asked to call back, I called back and left another voicemail and they never called us back to refund us or anything, I have called 5 times now and they're simply ignoring their mistakes. read more

Wow what a difference. This tasting room in 1 star but the wine is 5. My favorite winery in the Walla Walla area has a tasting room in Woodenville. We were let down. The wines are 5 stars all the way. All the wines are very good, they have the best Barbara I have every had. The tasting room in Walla Walla (area) is a 5 star. We were there for a wine pickup (this time not in Walla Walla but Woodenville). They did not have anything open but the regular stuff, nothing extra for a very busy wine club pick up weekend (Walla Walla does this). I would have bought more wine but I like to try them first in the winery as years change. They said they do not open anything extra for any reason, they only do that in Walla Walla. Well I hope the owners are listening and call the manager in Woodenville to let him know they will sell more wine if he opens more and it won't be a loss if he only does it on weeksends that are known to be busy. We have been contemplating stopping in to try out Zerba for quite awhile and finally went in this weekend. To preface this review, they have their sandwich board signs all over the street, in the parking lot, on the path into the tasting room and inside the tasting room....all of which say "Zerba Cellars". In addition to their signs, they have their banners saying "Winery of the year", etc. All of which are fine, by all means they should be advertising their brand and should feel free to promote the fact that the winery has earned accolades. At the same time, if I am going to visit their winery, my preference is to taste some of the wines that actually got them there. Instead, the only wines they were serving were from their second label called "Bowlus Hills" with the exeception of their port, which is heavy on the brandy and weak on the wine. Just the name....Bowlus Hills....harkens back to the Seinfeld episode where and ill-advised Mr. Pitt decided to name his new water company a very unappealing "Moland Hills"...this name is only slightly better. Anyhow, we were quickly separated from our $5 tasting fee and got to taste only these second label wines. Come on, really? Their shelves are packed with their namesake wines and all they offer up is tastings of an obscure second label. Furthermore, on their tasting notes for these wines, three out of four had the exact same text within tasting notes. Is copy and paste really all you can muster up to describe these wines? Any winery is certainly free to choose which wines they pour in their tasting room at any given time. That's certainly their prerogative and it's fine if you want to sprinkle in some wines from a second label that your trying to promote. Plenty of wineries have come out with second labels that are just great. But this was a real let down; the wines weren't good at all and we got no exposure to Zerba's flagship brand. Yeah... so this winery is one of the worst ones I have ever been to. And I'm mostly referring to the wine. The reds are bland, young and underdeveloped. Okay, I get it everyone has their own recipes for making reds. But if I usually don't like a wineries reds I will probably like their whites at least. Or at least one white...This was not the case here. The whites smelled a little like chlorine and I honestly couldn't even drink them. I would pass on this place and go elsewhere. read more

Zerba Cellars is an interesting tasting room in Woodinville. The tasting room actually feels like you are in a basement, which was slightly weird to me since they do have a ton of natural light from the windows and door. Most likely this is due to the fact of being located on the bottom floor of an older building and having slightly lower feeling ceilings. The staff member pouring in the tasting room was friendly and was able to explain the history of Zerba Cellars and their wines. I thought their white wines were real standouts, but was slightly disappointed by the reds. Most likely this was personal matter of taste, but I probably would only stop by for a bottle of white in the future. The tasting room is dog friendly as well. read more

There are a lot of wine tasting rooms in the small town of Woodinville, and this one is a good one. Not my favorite, but they have some good wine. I went during the winter so they were only serving reds, and being new to the wine game, I was pleasantly surprised. I ended up splurging on a bottle of their petite syrah dessert wine. Their service wasn't the best, but I went with a girl friend so we were chatting the whole time anyway. Also, we had to stand the whole time so keep that in mind if you have problems standing for long periods of time. read more

We finally got a chance to stop by Zerba Cellars' tasting room, conveniently located in the heart of Woodinville. It's a charming tasting room adorned with nature-focused artwork and friendly reception. We tried the Semillon, Wild Z Red Table Wine, Merlot, Mouvedre blend, Grenache and Syrah port. I thought everything we tasted was delicious and they had a wide variety that one could pair with any type of food. My BF thought the red table wine and merlot tasted "burnt", though I thought of it more as "toasty" which I found delicious and cozy. There was a smoky depth to it. We agreed that the Grenache tasted of berry-brightness, and the port tasted of slight indulgence...it will put a smile on your face but not leave you feeling too guilty. Zerba Cellars wine is definitely worth checking out. read more

Prompt pleasant service. I was only looking for their Port as my last 375ml bottle lasted 24 hours on vacation. I've also bought the Z red blend in the past. Other wineries that have Port in Woodinville are: Kestrel, Tefft and Cougar Crest. Brian Carter release Port in November but sells out quick. Bernard Griffin has Port but not a Woodinville tasting room. read more

This is one of my favourite wineries I found tasting my way through Woodinville! I liked EVERY wine that I tasted! Their "Wild" blends (red, white, and rose) are very affordable and appeal to a wide variety of tastes, and would be great as table wines or taking to parties. They have a vast array of single varietals in both reds and whites which are all so smooth, flavourful and complex! They are an estate family-owned winery which means they grow all their own grapes, and the craftsmanship and care really shows through in the quality and taste of the wine. I liked them so much I made it a point to travel out to their vineyard/tasting room where they grow the grapes on a trip to Walla Walla! read more

I was really surprised with the wines. It was my first tasting with them and I had not expected much. Vaughn was our server and took us through the tasting selections and there was not one disappointment in the bunch. Very nice wines. I actually like the tasting room. I haven't seen the Walla Walla property, but the Woodinville room is quaint and friendly. read more
