Had my second appointment with Levi last night. He is great! But let's back up. I got to Zephyr right after work for my 4:30 appointment and was warmly greeted. I was given the wine list and went with a glass of something faintly pineappley. Usually I dislike pineapple but this was described as Moscato meets Reisling and I've always wanted to introduce the two. I got to try it first. It was good, but I think I'll go with something not as sweet next time. Zephyr looked cool when I visited a couple of months ago. Now it's all decked out for the holiday season so I warmed up by the fire as I watched the Christmas tree's lights change. Gorgeous! Levi was late getting to me -- two last minute appointments ran long. But I didn't care because I was drinking wine and the place was so festive. It was like enjoying a Christmas party before guests arrive... Only missing mixed nuts or candy bowl. He was apologetic when he came out and met with me about my highlights. I told him I wanted something more dramatic than my current highlights and he made a recommendation that turned out great and didn't involve bleaching my hair (so smelly! And not great for hair either). The appointment seemed to take no time at all because Levi is a good conversationalist. He remembered my profession from the one time I'd been in there previously and also remembered my hair issues. The shampoo session is my favorite ever: Levi uses firm pressure with both hands so it's like a mini massage-less massage that was better than any scalp massage I've ever had. He did a great job on trimming it up so it felt lighter without making it look shorter. Growing out is such a pain. Appointment start to finish was about 2 hours. Partial foil, trim, and wine were a little over $110, which is very reasonable. Now I'm working on three other people to start going to Zephyr. You should go too! read more

I emailed Natalie at the last minute to see if she would be willing to wake up super early to do my hair for a morning elopement. I've been a client hers for several years. She was super accommodating on the tight timeline and even moved the appointment time up 30 minutes to keep my mom from worrying about me being late. Natalie did some amazing wedding hair. She's a master braider. She's was super fast and every flower she put in place stayed all day. I got so many compliments. She's amazing. You won't regret going to her for bridal hair or if you need a regular stylist. She's just a wonderfully nice person. I love going to her. read more

With the trendy and chic atmosphere and the vast wine bar, I wanted to love Zephyr. Whoever designed the interior had an eye for unique design with the wine cork bar and wood back splash in the nail room. I came here after purchasing a Groupon for a hair cut, deep conditioning, and blow out. My first HUGE problem was that the stylist brushed out my hair with a comb that had hair in it from a pervious customer. Whenever I receive a deep conditioning and a blow out, I expect my hair to be smooth and have a fair amount of volume. Unfortunately, the deep conditioning was not impressive and my hair has little to no volume. I will definitely not be recommending this salon. read more

I made an appointment at Zephyr approximately 1 month prior to my 10/10 wedding for a mani-pedi. I chose this salon because of the wine bar... The wine being the only good aspect of our visit. When I made the appointment, I informed the owner that this was for a BRIDAL PARTY. I was told that only 2 girls could be done at a time...I said no problem. When we arrived- no one asked who the bride was. Our appointment was at 12, we didn't get started until almost 1. I was the last one to get my mani-pedi and we were done at 4pm!!! My gel manicure was horrible. U got a nude color and my thumb had a black speck in it - probably because the technician had black nail polish on. Also, the polish didn't even cover the whole nail and bubbled up super thick. My pedicure looked like I painted them myself. But the big kicker was when I took my heels off after our rehearsal and my toes completed smeared! I called to inform the manager, and she completely blew me off. Needless to say, I will not be returning and be warned before dancing. read more

Brittney was so patient and friendly with me - especially considering this was my first professional haircut since 2011...and after I had combed out 3+ year-old dreads and had extensive damage and uneven hair from shaved sides that had slightly grown out. I could not be happier with what she did - she worked with the uneven hair and around it to create a super cute summer cut! I was so embarrassed going in there, considering the state of my hair, but I left feeling much more confident. Thank you! Let's see. I have followed Natalie for a long time. I even now live out of state and she is still who touches my hair. Before it was Zephyr, it was Arco. It is located in the Grove right by Manchester (a couple of blocks down), off f Tower Grove Avenue. The building has a lot right next to it which is fabulous (in my opinion), especially if you have a late appointment. The entire place was just remodeled. Natalie did a lot of it and you would never know if you didn't know Natalie. There's an awesome receptionist style desk in the waiting area with a wonderful wood wall behind it. It is beautiful. The waiting area is updated with new seating and lights too. And there are always offers of non-alcoholic beverages to be served. They're actually trying to get a liquor license to be a hair bar. With Natalie, if you ever do have an issue, change your mind about something, or need an opinion, she is more than happy to oblige. She takes any critique seriously and will amend (or come up with a solution or an apology), so just communicate with her! I hate that sometimes people take to social media without first trying to get a solution on their own. Natalie does lovely work and takes pride in what she does. She keeps on on education. She has cut and styled my hair. Dyed it. Put extensions in. You name it. I keep going back despite living 260 miles away for a reason. read more

I received the classic mani pedi combo groupon as a gift and was so excited to use it! When you arrive, it seems like you're walking into a bar which defninitely caught me off guard. I was also caught off guard by the baby sitting on the bar, but she wasn't disruptive and was a little cutie. I had my appointment with Crystal and right off the bat things felt a little rushed. She gave me a choice of 10 polishes and said I was limited to those choices because they would dry in under 5 minutes. During the actual process of the mani/pedi it didn't feel rushed until we got to the point when she was about to start painting my fingernails. She told me to get all my stuff together, put on coat, etc so that I would be ready to leave as soon as she was done. After the last nail was painted, she told me not to touch anything for 10 minutes and dismissed me. I thought that was very strange and unprofessional. And of course, I smudged my thumbnail as soon as I walked out the door. I also thought it was strange that when I asked the normal price of a mani/pedi, she had no idea. When she figured it out, it was $60 which I thought was ridiculous for the quality of the nail polish used and the overall ambience. My color has lasted though! Probably would only go back again if I got another groupon. read more

I have been going to Natalie for a few years now and I highly recommend her! Not only is she super nice and grounded, but she gives real input when I need it. She has put a lot of energy and effort into her place and it shows, it's beautiful! Free bang trims also, I love it! Easy to get to and easy parking! My husband has been going to Courtney, for some time now as well and he has no reason to try anyone else. Courtney gives him a cut that we're both happy with, not a generic male cut. Overall, Cheryl did a great job with my hair. She took time to understand what I was looking for and explained the steps she took. I found her to be friendly and laid-back, which made it a pleasant experience. Sometimes it can be awkward to make small talk with a new stylist, but she was easy to talk to. The salon itself has great ambiance- unique artwork, mural of St. Louis, and fun music. The drawback is the steep prices (fortunately I had a groupon but not sure how you can otherwise justify a $74 haircut/style in St. Louis). I also found it strange that I was offered a beverage (local craft beer) and later charged for it...not a huge deal, but they need to be more clear about this from the onset. read more

My hair is very fine and it's been hard for me to find someone who can work with my hair. Ever since I've been going to Natalie I get endless compliments on my hair and I love my hair more than ever. At first thought; I was impressed with the concept and offerings of this salon; not to mention it's close to home. Like the other poster, horrible finished product on the toes; the polish wasn't a brand I was familiar with, didn't cover the entire nail on either the feet or fingers. At first glance of my toes; it looked as though the polish was old. The technician asked if I wanted a 3rd coat, I declined. When checking out; my pedi was $50. I was floored!!! Not happy with the service I received here. Came for a mani pedi. She didn't do any cuticle work at all on my hands. So she basically just painted them. Literally 5 minutes (if not less) after she was done, she started collecting my things and asked me to leave. I told her that I didn't think this was enough time for the polish to dry. She said "just be careful and you'll be fine." It was close to closing time so I'm sure that's the reason for rushing me. Started to chip 2 days later. What a waste of money! read more

The concept is really awesome. I love that they have wine and other drinks. Once I heard that I knew I had to go and try it out. I got a hair cut it went awesome. I found a great groupon for a $29 mani-pedi, so I was really excited to try this place. I set up appointments for both my friend and me, which was convenient through a phone call. Zephyr has a convenient parking lot beside it, which I appreciated because I'm not a fan of street parking. The place itself has just been remodeled, so the inside is very beautiful. After we checked in, we were offered cool refreshments. When it came to the actual mani-pedi, the work was subpar. My manicurist missed painting various spots on my nails. The hand and foot massages were pleasant, but just a day after, my nails were already chipping. My friend's nails chipped that same night. Maybe it had something to do with the brand of nail polish they used because it was a brand I've never heard of in my life. Either way, I doubt I will return because it is a far drive for me to go and get a service that isn't great. In addition, without a groupon, a classic mani-pedi at this salon is $75. The only reason why I'm not giving it one star is because the staff is very friendly. read more
