So, after hiking and stuff your feet need a little love and Zen Spa was still open and after a quick call to confirm they're open; their Yelp page says closed but that's from April 2020. I drove over there quickly to get a one hour foot massage. The place is definitely clean and quiet with a the semi-private room being a de facto private one since no one else was around. The staff doesn't really speak much English but once you lie down you're taken care of pretty well. My 60 minute foot massage was good, a nice soak and a pretty good rubdown of my feet. I also got a pretty good head and neck massage for about a good 20 minutes as well and for 30 bucks, which is a hard to find price. While most places during the pandemic have a preference for card/touchless they actually have a sign that requests the opposite. Basically, they're only taking cash right now, which I did not have but they let me go find an ATM and let me come back. read more

Absolutely fantastic strong massage from Kevin. Such good vibe, this spot and the people that run it. They prefer cash payments. They use hot oil for the massage, which feels luxurious. The place is clean, and neat, the music is lovely instead of cheesy spa music. The owners are immigrants so please cut them some slack and be kind. They use a translate app to communicate with customers. As an immigrant, I think it's really brave to do what it takes and be imperfect to run a business to serve the community. read more

People who complain about the receptionist not speaking perfect English have clearly never experienced how hard it is to be an immigrant or minority. Also, please consider that this industry has been heavily impacted by covid before writing a negative review :( Zen Spa Massage was one of the few places open on Christmas Eve. Although my partner and I were their last customers the night before Christmas, our massage therapists were very patient and never rushed us. For 1/4 the price of a massage in Palm Springs, this place is a total steal. Everything was clean, everyone wore masks, and I was pleasantly surprised by both the hot oil and hot stones used during the massage. The scalp massage was probably the best I've ever had. I'll definitely be recommending Zen Spa to all my friends passing through Joshua Tree! read more

I know it can seem frustrating when the people that work there cannot speak perfect English. But they are good massage therapists and they tried really hard to make me feel comfortable, more than other places I've been to. The rooms are VERY roomy, and very clean. I was surprised as I am a bit of clean snob. I had very specific needs with specific places and they really listened to me, even though yes it did take a little longer to explain. The lady who massaged me told me she just got here only half a year ago. I am sure they will pick up more English in no time, but for now, I hope everyone can be just a bit more patient with them because they are actually really good at their job and they care about the customers very much. read more

I went awhile back , but still one of my most memorable massages I have gotten some pretty "established" massages but this place is one of the best. I love the workers , and the massage is wonderful for those with aching bodies read more

Zen Massage is FANTASTIC To start, their price point is more than fair and well below what other similar services in the area quote. Prices aside, their service and quality exceeded pretty much any massage I've ever gotten. The people who work here are nice, clean, and great people. I came here during the holiday season and they were accommodating and patient. It was a perfect end to a long day of hiking and climbing. I read some of the one star reviews and I disagree with all of them. English may not be their first language but I had no problem communicating and their customer service is excellent. Can't recommend this place enough. I will for sure be back and will be telling all my friends who visit the area to go as well. read more

I came in here when I was 2cm dilated and 39 weeks pregnant. I have been trying for weeks to get an appointment down the hill but they have been booked (Lido) or they kept hanging up on me when I asked for an appointment (Miracle Springs). My doula said a friend liked it so I went in for a half and half: foot massage and body massage combo. First, I was taken into a main room with a few beds parallel to each other. The backs could zoom up like a hospital bed. My clothes were kept on. They put my personal belongings in a basket and placed my bare feet in hot water. Temperature was perfect. A towel was placed over my eyes with a brief scalp massage. The foot massage was more therapeutic than relaxing. They popped all my toes. They massaged between the toes. They used a warming lotion and some kind of heating prop on my calves. I wish there was more of that. They moved me to a room for a body massage. It was amazing. They regularly checked in about pressure. They used a hot cloth on my back, up my spine. It was amazing. I felt like I was floating. It was the perfect thing for feeling uncomfortable and grouchy for so long. And half the price of the above mentioned spas. The staff is sweet as can be. I am glad they are here. read more

He pulled my shorts down without asking. - I was getting a full body massage and I kept my spandex shorts on because I was uncomfortable being fully naked with a male masseuse. Without asking he pulled my shorts down revealing most of my butt. I tried pulling them up and he pushed my hand away and pulled them down even more. I grabbed them and said that's too low. He laughed I felt violated and would never recommend this place. read more

I got the combo 30 min foot and 60 min body for 70 dollars. I tipped 20. Amazing. I got the guy. Not sure his name but he was amazing. I saw in these reviews that they pulled your underwear down. Yep he does but only the top of the crack lol. Can't believe anyone would write a bad review. They were so nice in there. They don't speak English but he has a little translation thing. I'll definitely go back. Don't let these weird, bad reviews stop you from going in there. read more

Went for a foot massage today and was pleasantly surprised with a head, neck and shoulder massage too. Love this place!

My wife and I both attended a one hour foot massage on August 13, 2017. I waited until August 21, 2017 for my review because my wife did a follow up 90 minute body massage on August 20, 2017; and I wanted to see how her body massage measured up. The short answer is that Zen Spa Massage provides massage services comparable in experience to what I would expect from a high end resort or from a cruise ship spa, but at the rate of a dollar per minute. I am giving them high marks for both providing an exceptional service and great value. Prior to their opening my wife had to travel to the lower desert for a decent massage, but not anymore. The details of the foot massage are as follows. The foot massage in performed in a large room that can service four customers at once. They place your feet in a bath to soak while they work on a scalp and facial massage. After the scalp massage they work on your feet. And after the foot massage they have you turn over and work on your back. It was actually a lot more than I expected for being labeled as a foot massage. My wife described the 90 minute body massage as being similar to a Lomi Lomi massage. She said it was wonderful, and she is already scheduling to go back. She is happy, so I am happy. Oh, the body massages are performed in private rooms. My opinion is that Zen Spa Massage is professional yet affordable. It's like a Massage Envy service, but without the subscription or commitment. Since they are in their grand opening phase one could like just show up for a look around and get a discount offer to sweeten the deal. read more

Though the people I spoke with didn't speak English, I didn't have any trouble communicating. The phone system has an automatic translator, and we communicated easily in person. The massage was great, and a great value. The first part was in a common room--they soaked my feet while massaging my head and arms, and then gave the reflexology foot massage. After that, we moved to a private room for the final part of the massage, which was an excellent, deep back massage. read more

This place is splendid. Large, warm and comfortable. Professional and communicative. Get massage. They go the extra mile without trying to upswell you or shame you into paying with cash. Highly recommended. read more

Me and my husband went in for a couple massage. It was $60 for an hour each person. A great price, but does not include feet. You can pay additional for it. It was very relaxing and the music was just right. The room and whole facility was clean. Easy to walk around in, no stairs, and all flat floors. The inside has lovely art on the walls and the furniture matched. They used hot stones which was great. We never have had that before, and it was relaxing. Great experience. They have a great staff. Very nice and listened to us well. The only reason we gave it 4 stars is because, they have little staff and when the phone rings no one answers. Which stops the mood when you're the client. read more

Massage is a personal preference and here's why I would never return to this place and do not recommend this spa. The facility was clean and well decorated, but the Massage itself was very rushed. The person giving the massage did not apply firm pressure upon request while working with troubled areas. The worst part of my experience was after the massage ended and I went up front to pay. The person stared and asked how much I was going to tip him. I said $10 for a $60 massage. He did not deserve the tip but it was awkward. And then their credit card machine did not take my card...he was saying in Mandarin to his co-workers that he thinks I don't have enough money on the card and that the card was declined. I corrected him in English and had him try another card. THIS WAS AWFULLY BAD EXPERIENCE! read more

I loved coming to Zen Spa Massage during my pregnancy for their $30/60 minute foot massage. It helped me relax and feel better in my body, starting in the second trimester, all the way through postpartum. I had no swelling during pregnancy, and I think monthly massages definitely helped. They even have a buy "10 foot massages, get one free" punch card. I had a different massage therapist just about every time, but they were all wonderful and very professional. Everyone was super accommodating with my pregnant belly, and made me feel very well taken care of. I walked in every time (no appointment), and never had a problem being seen right away. Highly recommend to all pregnant women and postpartum moms (and dads too; my husband loved his foot massage as well). read more

Unfortunately I was unable to get a massage here after the COVID restrictions were lifted. I tried two days in a row. The woman at the desk does not speak English. How can you run a business in an English speaking country if your receptionist doesn't speak English???? Communication was awful. I am very disappointed as I used to love this place pre-COVID. I would come here at least once every week. Very sad it seems to have gone downhill. I'll have to find another place to go. read more

They do not have a website that lists a menu of their services. I called and asked and was told 'I speak only little English, what time would you like your appointment'. I asked again about what types of massages they offer and the response was 'I speak only little English. Subsequently, I dropped in and looked at their menu of services. A man came out of the back room and said 'You don't have an appointment, we can't take you'. He did not offer to make an appointment for me. Their parking lot was empty and no one in the waiting room. read more

Hands down the best massage place in the Morongo Basin. The therapists are friendly and are very good. They really know what they are doing. We come here at least once a month. Julia, Anna and Peter are whonwe usually ask for because they are very well trained in Chinese Massage. Their facility is very tranquil. This place is our ZEN. read more

Jason gave me the best massage I have ever had, working out the knots in my back. I recommend him, he is wonderful!

We stopped by desperate for massages after a long week of traveling. We had massages a few days before and were in pain from lousy practitioners. Zen Spa not only fixed a lot of the problems caused by the other place, but left me emotional over the healing process. I haven't had someone listen and be so in tune with my body in a loooong time. My husband had an equally great experience. If we lived here we would come every other week. The staff is also warm, but also very professional. FYI I got a "foot" massage hat included a lot of wonderful body work with me fully clothed. My husband had a more traditional private Swedish massage. read more

Nice clean friendly zen atmosphere with good masseurs that will rub those knots away.

I do not understand the negative reviews posted here what so ever. I have been there 6 or 8 times and have never ever had an unpleasant experience. The therapists have always been very professional and proficient in massage. I would high recommend Zen Spa Massage. Rick read more

If you're in town and need a foot massage it's the place to go! I wish I lived closer because it was amazing

This place is very wonderful. It was my first time been here, I have a really bad back problem but they massaged me gently and it was awesome. I feel much better after the massage, I will definitely come back soon. The environment is very relaxed that almost fall a sleep for many times. They have different kind of massages and also foot massage. The one I took is 90min massage, even though it's 90min but felt so short!! It's worth to spend my money and come here to relax. read more

One of the best places for a massage. The price is very affordable compared to what you will found in the Plam Springs. The place is relaxing with air conditioning during for the extreme hot summer day. I have been there twice & will continue to visit them as much as possible when I'm in the area. The staff is courteous and professional. Enjoy! read more

Lovely massages for low cost. This was a spur of the moment event while visiting Joshua Tree NP. Very clean, friendly, skilled.

We had a great couples massage here! Our masseuses were very strong. I came in with an achy body and my masseuse really got into the exact knots that had been bothering me for days. Left very refreshed. While this is more of a no frills massage place, it has a pretty decent ambience. Solid spot! read more

I booked two 90 min massages with two females in separate rooms over the phone with a man that answered the phone. He asked what time works for you we are wide open.. I booked for later in the afternoon. Showed up for our appointments they first tried putting us in the same room, but I said no I booked separate rooms they said ok & put us in separate rooms & said the females can only give an 60 min I said well I booked 90 mins with two females, the man said I can do yours but your husband will only be an hour with a female. Both massages were terrible. We went when they first opened & loved our massages. Now I highly do not recommend this place at all. They totally went down hill! Save your money. read more

Never going back to this place. No one communicates for one. Second, they offer a massage through a blanket with curtains that don't cover the frames, as doors. They can not work on certain body parts but have to only follow a generic broad approach. No recovery happening there. read more

The ambience is nice and relaxing but the gentleman that gave me a massage applied too much pressure on my neck and shoulders and left me with bruises, tenderness and pain radiating from my shoulder to my neck. (The bruising and radiating pain didn't happen until the day after the massage) I told him it was too much pressure and it was hurting and he replied "Pain is good for you." Then when it was all over I was asked for a tip. read more

I had a great 90 minute combo massage here. The spa was quiet, clean and had a nice relaxing atmosphere. My therapist checked in with me several times about pressure. It was professionally executed. The hot stones addition was a very welcome surprise. Had no idea it was included but it added a lot to the experience. Great prices as well. read more

We went in for the $30 foot massage. Called and they were able to accommodate us within an hour. Starts out with scalp massage for about 5-10 min and then they work on your feet for 20-25 min and then they work on your back the rest of the full hour. We loved it. read more

You know those "massages" where they wipe lotion on you for 60 minutes without applying any pressure even after asking them and you leave way more tense then when you came in? It was that. I got the foot massage and the bottom of my foot was never touched, but my legs were lightly swiped repeatedly. My friend got the mixed massage by a gentleman and she said her was good. read more

Most inept massage I've had in recent memory. Same for my friend. The massage "therapists" seemed to have little idea of what they were doing and we both just wanted it to end. On top of that, they kept walking out of the room to make appointments and yelling out to each other. Meanwhile, there was a stream of loud phone conversations. Nothing Zen about it. We feel totally ripped off. read more

Horrible customer service. I was in town for a wedding and was suffering from a migraine. I called to make an appointment. All set for 2 pm. I get there 10 minutes early and the man at the front desk tells me the therapist is running 10 minutes behind. No problem. I'll run an errand and come back. I come back before the time he even tells me to. Now the man at that front is telling me they can't see me till 2:30 now because they are over booked. He was the one that made the appointment on the phone, but now he's telling me he just got there and not sure what happened. Huh? What a waste of my time. I wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt ignoring the other reviews that complain about the same thing. Nope. This place needs to Get it's act together. read more

Been looking all over for a massage therapist that doesn't cost $250+. This place by far has the BEST massage I've ever had! Very reasonably priced. I haven't seen a chiropractor in months due to COVID and knew my back was bad but the tense spots were incredibly tight. Had to find somewhere and took a chance on Zen Massage. Very polite and professional. Will definitely go back. Best deep tissue/hot stone massage! read more
