When I looked up bakeries in Berlin, this one had exceptional ratings on g-maps so I'd bookmarked it. Little did I know that they had a location in Potsdam too! Perfect spot to stop for a coffee and a pastry (or two) on a Saturday late afternoon.
This seemed to be a popular place since there was a steady stream of people the entire time I was in the store. Certain types of bread loaves looked to be sold out for the day. The inside smelled delicious and the variety of buns (as in those similar to cinnamon rolls) looked especially enticing. They had some flavors like apple with almond, white chocolate raspberry, and a plum that I hadn't seen before, so I went with the plum €4.30 that I'd heard was the seasonal fruit in October.
Aside from that I also picked up a cardamom bun €3.50 which I dug into first and it was delicious--plenty of cardamom flavor, basted with a light syrup though not too sweet, fluffy and still a little warm inside. The plum pastry I tucked into a bit later and it was still moist, lightly cinnamon-y, not too dense or sweet and actually quite a moderate/large serving size to eat in one sitting. I wish I'd eaten it warm though I guess that's what happens when your eyes are bigger than your stomach.
The inside of the store is brightly lit, simply and cleanly designed, with wooden shelves and display cases for the baked goods. It was easy enough to point and order though the sales associate that helped me spoke mostly German and I spoke mostly English. They take cash and card. A little pricier than some other spots but well worth the quality. Hands down would visit this bakery again! read more
