A really nice bakery and cafe in Potsdam. If you are looking for a coffee or breakfast before 9am your choices are to find one of the bakeries in town and this is a great place to stop. They have a wide variety of organic bread, sandwiches and cakes. The stuff tastes great and the ladies behind the counter and very friendly and helpful. For under €5 you can have a coffee and a sandwich which is great for an organic bakery. I would happily come here anyday and get some bread or sandwiches. Although the bread and treats may look good from the window, BEWARE! We were served MOLDY coconut macaroons from this shop. They came in a plastic cup, and after eating a few, I noticed they had a very strong, pronounced taste to them. I started feeling sick, then took a closer look at the cookies. They had spores ALL OVER them. I took the cookies back to the shop to show them, and they offered me a free cup of cookies; I declined for obvious reasons. Businesses CANNOT be serving expired foods to customers. This is so dangerous. I also tried the croissant, and it was good. The baguette was just okay. DO NOT take your chances. Great bakery and cafe in Potsdam. It's right on the pedestrian walk in a quaint and cutesy shopping area. They seem to have a larger bakery across the street. The cafe almost feels like a 1940's New York deli in ambiance, but the food is certainly European. The wife and I each got a sandwich and shared a slice of cake. My food came out quickly. Not sure if they forgot about her order as we had to go inquire and then it looked like they went to go make it. Pricing is good if you're an American and are used to paying $10 for a basic sandwich. They boast organic ingredients so that's also a good thing. I'm very rarely in this area, but would totally come here again for lunch or a light snack. read more
