However we parked at the mall across the street on this trip and this was right across the street. My husband really wants a grandfather clock and he was very excited to check out the selection. Prices seemed kind of high to me but to be fair I don't know anything about grandfather clocks, lol. They also have a nice selection of Frankenmuth magnets, they ranged from like $4 to $10. I ended up buying one of the $4 ones. The reason I'm bumping up this review to five stars is because I lost my Fitbit there (Fitbit Zip, an old one that sits on my waist, not my watch) and when my husband and I got to Kern's and realized it, we rushed back to the store to check there first (it was 530pm). The (owner? Employee?) welcomed us back, and another customer immediately pointed to it on the floor. Saved us a lot of hassle and had they closed immediately at 530pm, the doors may have been locked. Looking forward to checking this store out again the next time we are in town.

I have been going to frankenmuth for 25+ years and we always stop in here when visiting. I can't…read moresay I buy something EVERY l time i enter, but have always been impressed with all the staff and the merchandise is always great quality. Over the years things have become more pricey, as has anywhere else that's touristy, but I will say they have some very cool and unusual things they carry that if I did have loads of extra cash I would purchase! Like these really cool heads, all the fairy things, leather products. Have some pictures included. The one thing we went in for this year a couple weeks ago was to check out the new bar. They even have a pretty good size outdoor patio that unfortunately we didn't get to take advantage of because of the rainy weather. It was still open for late October though which was nice. The bartender was extremely nice that day(we were in town from Oct 23-26)and very knowledgeable about the Zehnder family, Bavarian Inn, etc. It was a nice conversation we had for sure since I've been coming to Frankenmuth for so many years. Going off the Fall special drink list, I tried the Cranky Mule, my daughter tried the Frankenstein Monster one. For $8, it was a good size and decent price. No complaints they were both good! Will be going back here for a quick drink next time shopping here again. One special note, I believe there is a coupon for a free gift in the visitors coupon book. The minimum purchase has gone up, but the free gift has always been something nice here.

Some of the knives were really cool but pretty pricey. It was $100 for a nice small knife. We weren't too interested in the other items in the shop. We pretty much walked across the whole store and left. If you like knick knack souvenir items then its a great spot for you.

I recommend going during the week if you can since it's very busy on the weekends and hard to move around all the people sampling cheeses. They also have gift ideas, specialty sodas and craft beers plus a huge nostalgic candy section!

I'm sad to say, this was a bit of a disappointment for me. I was really hoping for more cheese and…read moreless kitchen gadgets and other gift type items. Also, they only had one cheese to sample and first of all, there was no one physically there manning the samples and secondly it was a cheddar......??? Really? With all the flavors on offer, you sample cheddar? There was a refrigerated case with a lot of different flavors of cheese, even a chocolate cheese (which was actually quite delicious- it tasted like fudge but with a cheese consistency and less sugary) so my group purchased about 6 different kinds which we sampled back in our hotel rooms. Honestly all were pretty good but had there been more samples, we might've purchased more. We were also looking forward to watching the cheese being made as their brochures and website state but nothing like this was going on when we were there. If you like cheese, it's still worth a visit but it's not going to take too long. On our itinerary we had allotted an hour and a half here but I think we maybe spent 15 minutes, if that. Also, if you're planning to go, bring your own ice pack... They charge you extra for those.
