Spent almost $150 for piercings that were done incorrectly (horseshoe piercings for conch and helix????). Had to go to another piercing shop to get my piercings fixed the next day. Leana did my tattoo and I am very unhappy with both the price and the work. It was supposed to be an outline of 3 of my cat's paws with watercolor behind it (see example below) however she filled in the paws black and the "watercolor" is just a splotch of one color. She quoted me 3 hours of work for $400.00, and I thought that was a lot of money for 3 paw prints with color but she said 3 hours so I figured ok... it took her about 1 hour and no I did not get any money back. I now have to go to someone else to try to fix the watercolor. No I'm not going back to the person that screwed it up and overcharged me. read more

Had The women Tatoo a date on my daughter's wrist. After 4 weeks we came back to have it touched up because it faded. Long story short, The girl was rude to us after 2 visits and a phone call to touch up 2 numbers. She hung us out to dry with no touch up. I have three tattooz, two of which were done at Zebra Tattooz. They have two tattoo artists: Cliff and Leana. Cliff did my first tattoo and I've gotten many compliments on it. It's just black ink of Calvin and Hobbes and it's beautiful - I got it in April of 2002. My friend went with me and got Chief Wahoo tattooed on him as well, it looks great. My tattoo had a couple spots that faded a little bit and I got them touched up by Leana, free of charge. My friend's tattoo had some spots that faded a bit, but he hasn't had it touched up. For the record, I'm pretty good about taking care of my tattoos when I get them. But after the touch up, it healed great and looks amazing. I got my most recent tattoo there as well, and that was yesterday (Jan 2013). Leana did my tattoo this time. The tattoo is a solid black symbol and everything is healing well and looks fantastic. PRICE For tattoos, you get what you pay for. Or sometimes you pay a lot and get junk anyway. I'm not putting a rating here. My two tattoos from Zebra have been great and decently priced. No complaints here. ARTWORK Admittedly, both of the tattoos I got at Zebra are pretty simple. Both are all black ink and are not terribly complicated from a design standpoint. With that being said, the colors are even and thick, the line work is great. Granted, my more recent one may need to be touched up a little bit once it's healed so it's *perfect*, but maybe not. Even if so, that's not uncommon and that's been the case for me for all of my tattoos. ARTISTS Cliff and Leandra are both great. Both of them are very nice and are very personable. When Cliff gave me my tattoo, he talked with my friend and I the whole time. Each of the times I was with Leana, she talked with me and my girlfriend the whole time. Having a conversation, I learned, is a nice way to take your mind off getting stabbed in the arm a bunch (if you're like me and think getting a tattoo is painful). Also, both artists carefully explained all the details of what they do to ensure everything is clean, sterile, and hygienic. Also, both artists have very good hands in regard to depth of puncture. My first tattoo (that I got elsewhere) was incredibly painful, ink leaked out a lot afterward, and I bled a good amount, and had some scabbing. Aftercare with my Zebra tattoos has been great. I have had very, very little ink come out afterward (judged by when I pat the tattoo dry after washing it). I have never noticed any blood whatsoever either (which I have no idea how that happens, considering I was just stabbed a bunch). Since there is no bleeding, there's no scabbing. And post tattoo pain is incredibly minimal. STORE AND STAFF The store is very clean and spacious. They've got music playing all the time, which is a good volume (ie not too loud). Black light and fish tanks really stand out. Their sample tattoos do not at all appeal to me, but I have never seen any sample tattoo at any parlor that does. They all just look silly to me. Anyway, there have been two different ladies working the counter when I've been there. I do not know their names, but they've very sweet and helpful. OVERALL I have had tattoos done at two different places, and those places are worlds apart. Zebra is very clean, very professional, uses high quality ink, great artwork, and the staff and artists are so wonderful and friendly. Leana even remembered me from my touch up I had done 6 months ago, which I thought was really cool. I can't speak for the piercing services there, but I have been more than happy with my tattoos. When I get my next tattoo, I'll be going back to Zebra Tattooz (unless I have moved out of the area by then). read more

I want to start off with the fact that I do not have any tattoos. I want one to cover a scar I have from a procedure done awhile back and needed advice on how to proceed. The staff here is more than WONDERFUL! Having never been in a tattoo parlor before, I had no idea what to expect. I was greet with smiles and "Welcome" and felt right at home. Due to issues with my scar, I couldn't get a tattoo on it, but instead of just dismissing me, they really helped come up with ideas on how to incorporate a tattoo around my scar and they gave me ideas on how to help my scar heal better so that in the future I can revisit getting a tattoo on it. I came in today hoping for a tattoo, but had to make an appointment for the next day. That's ok. No worries. Rules is rules, anyway. I did, however, have my nose pierced, something I'd been vacillating about for a long time. Leanna did the piercing. The whole "ordeal" took about 5 minutes. Got my nipples pierced here 2 years ago. The day I got them pierced it took forever to see someone and when I finally back with her she rushed through the whole processes. Anyways, the piercings seemed to never heel. Got them looked at by a trusted piercer and found out I was pierced with the wrong jewelry. It was curved and was the wrong gauge. Called the shop to talk to someone about this. Left 2 voicemails over the course of a week and got no response back. Finally got ahold of someone and she doubted my honesty by saying she didn't believe I came to this shop and must have been thinking of somewhere else. She explained that even if I could prove that I came there they have a no refund policy. A tab ridiculous that a piercer, who should know what their doing, pierced someone with the wrong jewelry. Not many places educate you on the process, zebra does. Before them i didn't know that some other tattoo places were purposely deceiveing me. At zebra they show me the needles coming out of the package, show me how they take clean guns out of the autoclave and give you a fairly long discussion on aftercare. I've never paid for a touch up. They are beyond professional and cordial. I stopped going to other shops. I never have to worry about them digging into my skin deep or having a heal time thats too long. They don't screw people over on pricing, they have very good rates. The staff is like family and ive been going there repeatedly for around 8years and have reccomended it to many others. I'm so glad I went here because her aftercare instructions were extremely helpful and she answered all my questions. If I could have gotten my lobes done here as well, I would have! ( They only use hoops to start for lobes and I couldn't have that for work.) I've got 4 tattoos, and Zebra has done 3 of them. The staff is very friendly, and they take the time to explain everything to you. The quality is good, and the price excellent. When I got my first tattoo I was a bit nervous, but then who isn't with their first one. Leana took her time and explained what stuff was and how it worked. Also before she starting to lay in the ink, she ran the tool in a few areas where the tattoo would be so I could feel how it would feel in those areas. It was a nice touch that showed she cares how her customers feel, by putting me at ease, before laying something permanent into the skin. Leana has a gentle touch and of the 3 she did none of them really hurt that much. I'd certainly consider Zebra for more. She took her time to put me at ease, and talked to me showing that I wasn't just another canvas sitting in the chair. She seems to actually care about the person she's working on. I can't comment on Cliff, since he hasn't done any work on me. I can't comment much on the artwork, since mine were all pre-drawn basic designs. As for ability, that's the only category I deducted a star from the rating. The work done was good, and I'm happy with all 3 I had done. If anything needs touched up they'll do that for free (provided you don't wait a long time). So why deduct a star? I can see a little bit of inexperience when it comes to shading and black/gray. Not that any of mine turned out bad, but compared to other pieces I've seen (and my 4th that was done elsewhere), there is some room for improvement. To be fair to Zebra it's possible Cliff is better at this type of thing, so they may be good for that too, but I'm reviewing off experience, and that's only been with Leana's work. So, per the yelp rating, "Yay! I'm a fan" certainly applies, but "WooHoo! As good as it gets" doesn't since you can get a little better shading elsewhere. Don't take this to mean that I think you'll get bad work done at Zebra, because I don't. If I did I wouldn't have gone back 2 more times after the first one. They do great work, just not the best available work. With that though, they are priced excellent. The places where you're going to go to get that slightly better shading is not going to be shy about charging you extra for it. If you don't need to have some killer black/gray shading you don't need to look beyond Zebra. So what I mean is, a color tattoo, or clear transitions between black and/or other colors and Zebra will do that just fine, and you'll get an excellent price. No need to pay extra for somebody who's an expert at black/gray shading if you're not getting that done. OVERALL: At the end of the day it's a great place to get a tattoo. I would recommend them to a friend, and I would get more work done there myself depending on the piece. I've been fortunate to get piercings and tattoos here. I've gotten work done in 5 other shops in the state, and Zebra is by far the best. The ladies at the desk are friendly and helpful, and the artists are amazing. They take great care to make sure you are getting exactly what you want and are very personable. The piercings I got (nose and eyebrow) were done well and healed relatively well and when I needed to change my eyebrow bar out (long story there) they were more than happy to take me back and change it really quickly, since it was still a little to new for me to do myself. The tattoo I got came out beautifully and healed incredibly well. They were very through in making a point to show me the needles and explain how the barrels were cleaned and how they knew it was sterile and pointing out expiration dates. While in every shop I've been to I saw them open the needle package, this was the first time I've ever gotten such a through explanation -- definitely helpful if you are a first timer and anxious. Even having a few more tattoos under my belt, it was a great incentive they have and definitely appreciated. The tattooer was friendly and a had a wealth of information and great stories to tell. If you are someone who just wants to come and play your headphones the whole time, you might not have as nice an experience; they really want to connect with you here and they have a remarkable talent for making even someone like me (social anxiety to the max) feel welcome and comfortable. The ambiance of the place is great, their work is good, and the staff is friendly and 100% knowledgeable. The tattoo I got is part of a half sleeve I've been working on, and I can honestly say I plan on getting the rest of the sleeve and all future tattoos here. Went to get the valentine day special. Called ahead of time to see if they were busy. We were told to be there by 8 to get an appointment. Got there a few minutes before 8 and still weren't 100% on what we were getting, we wanted to see the sizes of the tattoos offered. The artist was with 2 customers already and wasn't going to be done for a while so we had a few minutes to think. This man (Cliff or Z) walks over to the counter a few minutes after we had been there and says "you need to decide what you are getting now we normally stop taking appointments at 7:30" I said " we were told on the phone to be here by 8" he says "I'm the owner and what I say goes. It takes 20 minutes to draw them up" I again said well that is what we were told on the phone" he points at the clock and says well it's a few minutes after 8" I tried to say "we have been here for a few minutes" when I was cut off mid sentence when he says "we have lives too and we have been here since 7" I said "I understand that" he says "that makes for a long day" he then walks away from us and says "you need to decide now". My friend and I then decided we were not going to give business to someone that would talk to paying customers the way he did. Used to go to Leana for piercings loved her but unfortunately will never be going back due to the way we were talked to! read more

Leana is awesome! If you are going anywhere else for a tattoo, then you need to switch to this shop.. Since I live out of state and was visiting Ohio, I contacted Zebra for some much needed advice on how to get 3 other tattoos, done by other shops, blended for a better look. Leana said she was sure that she could help. Leana took time to make sure during our consult that everything was exactly what I wanted, with both of us sharing ideas and coming up with a solution. I was very impressed on how the equipment was sterilized and single use needles. In the end, my tattoos look great. Leana is a wonderful person, smart, and interesting to sit with for a couple of hours besides her artistry. Wish I had know about her before my first tattoo. I will never get any work done again except at Zebra. Don't care that I have to drive 7 hours to get there. To me it was definitely worth it and I am glad I placed that first phone call to them.
