From the start, he was professional, responsive and fun to work with. As someone who needs a lot of direction, I appreciated that he took the time to ask thoughtful questions to understand the style we were looking for. He even recommended the perfect location and timing for our engagement shoot. My (now) husband and I are definitely not comfortable in front of a camera, but Doug made us feel completely at ease and somehow made us look far more photogenic than we really are! On our wedding day, he knew the timeline better than I did. He kept everyone on schedule, seemed to be everywhere at once (while somehow remaining ninja-like), and captured every important moment beautifully. He also came prepared with a "magic emergency bag." Need something? He's got it! Eyelash glue, double-sided tape, a crochet hook, a hair wax stick... you name it. The hair and makeup artist was able to follow my vague instructions and helped customized my overall look, including jewelry choices. She also stayed throughout the shoot for touch-ups, and even helped with posing. Sam's knows what angles to shoot and which lighting works. He guided us through the poses and was able to wrap up our shoot earlier than estimated even though I usually find myself very awkward in front of the camera. I also appreciated that they provide all of the digital files, including the 500+ raw ones. When I wasn't a fan of the initial editing style, Sam was very receptive to my feedback and revised the photos quickly. The reason for 4 stars is the communication. During the consultation, I was hoping for more guidance on ideas since I didn't have a clear vision. I was just shown his portfolio on his tablet and quietly scrolled in front of him.
