On our way to a wedding on Cape Cod, Massachusetts we were hit head on by a young driver who was texting and crossed a double yellow. I wound up in a local hospital and my wife was transferred to Boston from the local ER. Upon discharge from the hospital we reached out for advice of counsel and we were referred, through a friend, to Naomi Shatz of Zalkind Duncan & Bernstein LLP. Although cause was clear, there were complications. We lived out of state and coordination of multi state insurance companies was required immediately. The driver had no insurance, no financial resources and was driving a borrowed car. For nearly two years Naomi held our hands though a settlement. When necessary we were conferenced with Norman Zalkind, a senior partner. Our treatment as clients was always professional. Calls were returned the same day either by Naomi or her admin staff who set up a fixed time the following day, emails were returned in hours if not in real time. We got great guidance on how to keep a log and a huge amount of help with the sorting of medical bills. All of the discussions that we had indicated that the team had been through this many times before and ultimately secured compensation through the insurance carried by the owner of the loaned car and uninsured motorist coverage of our policy. In the end our settlement was very fair and within the expectations set day one by the team. Naomi and her team handled everything and we never had to return to Massachusetts. Not recommended at all, especially the attorney Monica R. Shah. Generally all law firms first decide whther they can take the case or not via free assessment. But this firm decided to charge me whopping $750 for the initial call and promised me that their attorney Monica R. Shah would spend 15 mins before the call to read the docs of my case. Initial consultation call time was changed multiple times and i still accommodated her time. But she came totally unprepared without reading anything. Her attire gave an impression she just got up from bed in the morning. Then asked me to explain everything to her during the call her connection dropped multiple times. Then strategically told me we need another call for her to decide on the case and she will read docs before the second call but that would be covered by the $750 i paid or she can refund the money. This was carrot and stick approach for a person like me who was in vulnerable situation and wanted an attorney immediately so i agreed. Then asked me to do some fact findings at my end and check with my current solicitor statement if what i am proposing possible, which i did and informed her then she gave a date for second call. During that call she kept her video off and told me she cant take the case even after i satisfied her condition which she asked me to explore. Entire episode was a scam to extract $750 for nothing. I retained the services of Naomi Shatz in 2019 to work through my unlawful (Title VII based) expulsion from a university. I found her counsel to be stunningly ineffective, and communication was extremely poor throughout the process. Naomi blew through her initial $7500 retainer fee writing letters to the Dean of the college and the college's attorney, the latter of which she refused to send until a second $7500 retainer was furnished. The letter to the Dean of the college was riddled with misspellings and factual errors (e.g., my last name and area of study), and both the letter to the Dean and the college's lawyer lacked substantive legal analysis. The letter to the Dean alone was ineffective in helping to resolve the situation, and Naomi never once made contact with the college's attorney, which was really the purpose of hiring counsel in the first place. To add insult to injury, Naomi billed me ~$1000 out of the blue on top of her $7500 retainer fee, which I did not know had run down. When all was said and done, I paid Naomi around ~$8500 just to write a letter to the Dean, which obviously was not impactful enough to help my situation. Following my poor experience working with Naomi, I was fortunately approached by a well-known international law firm that took my case on contingency. They have expressed to me that Naomi's counsel was appallingly ineffective and borderline unethical. I hope that this review gives pause to those considering working with Naomi in the future, and I hope the firm establishes more transparent practices regarding expectations and fee schedules. read more

I paid for a consultation to determine whether they would take my case. Attorney Bernstein discussed the merits of my case and so I retained them. They subsequently backed out of representing me, but still charged me for whatever "analysis" they had done, thus depleting me of a substantial portion of the funds I put aside for this case and now I had to retain another attorney. Moreover, they backed out the day before a deadline for submission of a document with a bit of guidance on how to submit it myself. It took me time to find a new attorney (I was cautious after this experience), so I was then left to submit subsequent documents myself, which was not straightforward for me to figure out. When I had consultations with other firms subsequently, they all believed Bernstein's analysis to be mistaken. These people lack any integrity. read more

Attorney David Duncan took our money and provided absolutely nothing in return. He was weak and uninformed as to the laws concerning our case (against an assailant) and we never felt that he was on our side. It was only about the money; if he had any integrity at all, he would have backed out of representing us if he felt he could not do so properly. read more
