Vila de Gracia is a foodie heaven as there are countless meat, vegetable, and seafood stores all around the neighborhood. There are at least 10 meat shops within a block of our house and they are all pretty good but I've decided that Gasch is top of my list. Every cut of beef is available. They will hand slice anything you want in anyway that you need, in any quantity.. They will cut off the fat, leave the fat, season the meat, or even skewer the meat. I once asked for oxtail and they brought out 2 whole ones from the back fridge. I chose one and they chopped it up - yes, it's that fresh! And the meat is very flavorful. They specialize in Galician beef which some will argue is the best beef in the world. Service is great and the women butchers are efficient but very friendly. Prices are competitive for the neighborhood, but way cheaper than the tasteless beef in the US. Make sure you check the hours as they are only open half days on Saturday and Monday, closed on Sundays, and are always closed for daily siestas.

The ham that was aged longer was easier to chew with less resistance. We decided to purchase the highest quality aged 5 years, which was less salty, but robust in meaty flavor. It was absolutely delicious with rustic French bread from the bakery close to our hotel. If you're sightseeing near Casa Batllo, it's only a 3-5 minute walk around the corner! We're not iberico ham connoisseurs and I'm not sure whether or not we could tell the difference between high end or mid range iberico ham. They're all very good! We probably could have gotten some less pricey ones from the markets and would have been just as satisfied. But nonetheless, it was nice to buy something luxurious to enjoy while in Spain.

As we wanted a dinner where we did not go out, I had to go here. After siesta, I returned to shop and the place was packed. The majority of the staff seemed to speak fluent English as I heard a few speaking with non-Spaniards. I conversed in Spanish and the woman that helped me explained a couple of items I was not familiar with and then helped me with an aged manchego, a truffle pecorino, Jamon Iberico and variation of butifarra with pepper on the outside as well as a nice cold bottle of cava. The butcher meat looked incredible with a number of sausages and cuts that I would have loved to have the chance to cook up. This won't be for everyone, some people don't want to deal with not eating out and I get it, but if you want to have a quiet meal that is easy, come get some cured meats and a nice cava. If you've rented a house, come get some great looking cuts and make yourself a meal you won't forget.

You know everything in there is fresh; the fruit is fresh, the fish is fresh, the vegetables are diverse and look just picked, and the cheese is amazing. The charcuterie is like a fantasy! This market even has plants for sale as well as flowers and a few additional outlying products. When you walk up to a stall, it's not guaranteed that you're going to get a smile or a happy, "How are you?" But it is guaranteed that you will get good service. Selling the product is the name of the game here. I fully believe that if you are ever in barcelona and you come by this market you should absolutely stop in and see what it's all about. It's one of those rare places that you will be extremely glad that you saw and you'll think about later in life even if you don't buy anything, it's worth a look.

Unlike Boqueria, there aren't that many vendors selling cooked foods/tapas/snacks. Instead, it seemed more like a place where locals did their food shopping. We picked up some strawberries, so this is a good spot to pick up some fresh fruit. There's also a supermarket downstairs. They sell flowers and plants out front, and while I definitely didn't need any flowers, it was still nice to just look at them. If you're staying nearby and want to experience some local vibes, you should check it out. Otherwise, it's probably not worth going out of your way for if you're not looking to buy groceries. The owner doesn't speak English but one of the worker can help you out. They have good arrange of quality jamons, while i was trying there one of the customer told me they are one of the best in local. They were very helpful despite the language difference, and i was very satisfied with what i bought. We made simple sandwich with baguette and cheese from another local market and was one of the most memorable meal i had while my visit. :)

I was just walking by and was super hungry and figured I'd try my luck. You can buy your jamon shredded, in bits, or whatever. I went high end and in bits. I have to say, I was super impressed. I bought 100 grams and then circled back to buy 2 more 100 grams portions. They came with free bread sticks. Also, you insert your money in a huge automatic Euro dollar bill acceptor that's like 10 feet high, which was weird. The lady who worked there was very nice as we worked through my Spanglish.
