My Mum and I went to Zadoo to get our facial waxing done. I called up and booked the appointment about an hour and a half before the scheduled time - very polite on the phone. We got down there and on saying the name of the booking, the pair at the counter looked vaguely at one another as the had no booking under my name. The atmosphere was slightly uncomfortable and felt that we were being watched. There was also no where to sit and wait when we first got in the salon. We were soon taken to the back of the shop where we were told to wait until the waxer got there. She then came, without an introduction, and ushered us into the 'waxing room' which was an old bathroom converted. The room had a horrible smell to it and visibly in the corner was an old shower with a table shoved underneath it. On laying on the bed, I looked around to see the filth of the products - the lids of the talcum powder was putrid, the products she used to cleanse the skin before waxing had no pump so she was having to tip the bottle upside down to get the fluid out - might I add, it smelt like acetone and slightly burnt the skin of my eyebrows and upper lip. On beginning the waxing, she put far too much wax on my face and when putting the strips on to rip off, was pushing far too hard. Both my mother and myself commented on the car ride home that it was an experience that we could not wait to be over and as frequent beauty salon patrons we are aware of what waxing entails. I can assure you that neither of us will ever trust Zadoo's hygiene and will never go back. Clearly they focus more on their hair rather than their hygiene. read more
