I really wish I could give a better review, but my experience with Michael was just awful. At…read morefirst, things seemed okay--he was easy to get in touch with. But that's where the good stuff ends. I asked him to look over a 3-day notice before I posted it, and he didn't even read it properly. He told me to go ahead and post it, which ended up causing delays because I had to redo it later. When I asked him to review the new one, he kept dodging it. Isn't that literally his job? Things got worse when we had to write up the eviction documents. He misspelled the defendant's name four times in two forms! That could've gotten the whole thing thrown out and wasted another two weeks. When I pointed out these mistakes, he tried to blame me for writing the original notice. He is the lawyer here, right? The final straw was when I asked for my money back. He said he mailed a check, but when I asked which address he sent it to (he had two on file), he just ghosted me. Totally unprofessional. Save yourself the headache and find a lawyer who actually cares about doing their job right.

He was responsive, smart, caring, fast and it all worked out. We closed the escrow on time, and he represented the seller/lender. These guys are worse than the second rate CPAs you'd find at a strip mall. I first learned about…read morethem through Mark Kohler's social media posts. His videos and pod casts made him seem knowledgeable and relatable, so I contacted him through his web site. I didn't get a response (which should have been my first clue), so I decided to try again a few weeks later. A paralegal finally got back to me, and after some going back and forth and some unanswered emails, she finally scheduled a phone consult with one of their CPA attorneys. In talking to the paralegal, I learned that they were a full service firm which I was quite excited about because my growing business needed payroll services, bookkeeping, legal services, and accounting services. I thought it would make sense to have everything in one place. I was put in contact with their payroll and accounting teams. After having spent about half an hour talking to each, they were to follow-up with service agreements. I waited and waited and waited, but never heard back. A waste of time! The CPA attorney I spoke with sounded much like a car salesman. He seemed very interested in my business and situation, and seemed like he'd wanted to help me get my messy affairs in order. That was until I'd paid him to begin work on the incorporation. Once that was done, I didn't hear from him again! I emailed him with additional questions and requesting a consult. He didn't respond until I started to complain to one of their office staff. Still, four months later, I'm getting all these promotional emails from them asking me to sign up for this service and that service. These people seem more interested in selling you their products and services, and not so much in you or your business. For me, I'd prefer partners to work with. I need people with whom I can depend on to answer my questions as they come. Having a busy and fast growing business, it's important for me to have these relationships. These people are not it. The incorporations they'd done for me are now worthless because I now have to find someone else to help manage all the annual filings. I should have hired a local person, paid him half what they charged me, and had that person do all the follow-up work. If your situations are simple, you need simple help and you don't mind that your attorneys or CPAs don't take the time to understand you or your business, they are perhaps your cup of tea. If your situation is more complex and you need more personal attention, you should move on. Find someone local would be my advice.
