Subway for pizzas has arrived and its awesome. Great concept and a customer service team that enjoys their work. Of course the pizza tasted great but I think like many first timers I over-did the fixin's. The whole wheat crust was good but maybe a tad over-cooked. Great selection of sauces and cheeses so it is fun to experiment and combine. Loved all the fresh veggies as well. Add to that an excellent price point at $9.95. I think if I had the kids with me I'd drop the extra $3 and build them a better pizza unless they just want cheese, but who wouldn't want some of the goodies they have in their huge selection. I ordered 2 xl 2-topping pizzas, with garlic, and Roma tomatoes. The toppings, and sauce were very good and had lots of flavour but the crust was like cardboard and tasted flavourless. This place is awesome. Pizza is great, worth a wait if you have to. All high quality ingredients. The only reason I removed a star is because this location has now started charging for dipping sauces - when they used to be free. The businesses website states as a part of pride these dips should be complimentary, so I'm not too sure what's going on here.. Other locations charge now too or is this specific location cutting costs? I also noticed they do not hand out regular sized pizza boxes anymore unless you are absolutely taking it to go. Now it's an awkward 5" x 9" (ish) box that can barely fit 3 pieces of leftover pizza. read more

Fun pizza place. You can choose your crust (white, whole wheat or cauliflower) and either select a signature pizza or make your own. I chose the chicken parmesan pizza but they also asked if I wanted any other toppings added to it (no extra charge). It's like a sub place where they put the toppings on the pizza as you go and then bake it in a wood fire oven. Pretty reasonably priced too. Although it's thin crust it was 8 slices and I was able to have two meals out of it. The restaurant has a trendy look to it. The staff was friendly too. All in all a great casual place! read more

First time at this location and pretty unimpressed. The location itself is well designed and funky looking. That's about where the positive ends. When I walked up to the counter the only thing I could notice was how messy the entire area where the food was. Cross contamination galore. The man who made my pizza was uninterested and didn't seem to care about spreading out the toppings. When I asked for lots more pepperoni, he put 4 more pieces on. The drink machine was out of most options, mind you there was a sign indicating diet options were unavailable. When I inquired about the Coke being out on the machine, the same uninterested employee came out and sat at a table while getting it ready to change. He then took that opportunity to change every other option that was out on the machine. I finally got to fill my cup after my pizza was ready. No acknowledgment of the wait for a drink. The cleanliness of the restaurant was pretty awful. The straws were uncovered, but covered in dust. There was dirt in the cutlery containers. The bathroom hand dryer has mold growing on it. The food was alright, but nothing stood out about it. There are other stone fired pizza places in Winnipeg that offer a better product and a much better experience. I won't go back, and I won't recommend anyone else go to this location. read more

While the pizza is surprisingly good for being a fast food joint, there are definitely a few inefficiencies we observed here. First off, they advertise fast pizza. 15 minutes for a fast food joint isn't very quick, considering a sit-down joint would make you wait an additional 5 minutes for a pizza twice the size. Hopefully this is new staff and they're just ironing out the kinks. Second: line jumping. There doesn't seem to be a queue. We sat down and waited for our pizza. We watched it come out and sit in on the counter while 3 people that ordered after us 'jumped' the line and had their pizza cut up first. We had to go up to ask why this wasn't first out, first served. The staff just looked stunned at our comment as out pizza sat cooling off. We were disappointed that the plate instead of box option wasn't communicated to us prior to ordering. We watched as 90% of the patrons in the restaurant ate out of a box and then tossed it. A simple 'for inside or take out' question would solve this problem. It was only after throwing out our trash did we see a sign AFTER the cash register that suggests using a plate if eating in. Too much waste! It was nice to see staff busy and cleaning up after patrons, but what wasn't so nice was to see staff trying to weave their way out the front door with large trash bags as customers came in. It's also disappointing to see that staff was dragging trash/recycling across the parking lot. There should be a cart provided so staff can work safely. Speaking of safety, the owner doesn't seem to have much education around this topic. We watched as she pulled up in her BMW and had staff unload boxes of veggies/supplies. The least she could have done was back up into the stall so the staff member didn't have to walk into traffic with heavy boxes stacked unsafely. Again, investing in a $100 dolly/cart would make this workplace safer and more efficient for staff. Another thing we were surprised at was the way pizza was being taken out of the oven. Staff whipped around a long arm onto a counter opposite the stove. We watched as other staff members were almost hit as they passed by in between her and the other counter. This is an accident waiting to happen. We hope the owner visits some of these issues. They are the reason we won't be back anytime soon which is too bad. We would love to eat here but we don't want to support less-than-safe working conditions. read more

Just like their pizza boxes... the restaurant is very very slowing going down. I remember when they first opened it was great! Food, staff, the environment. But as the years went on, the pizza boxes started changing... getting cheaper... getting generic... just like the pizza. And now they charge you for the sauces on the side. I love their volcano ranch sauce, but now I have to pay for a teeny tiny sip cup of it. Wow, thanks a lot! And prices went up a buck or two. Seeing less customers in there every time, which I'm not surprised about, but now a days everyone's going to Prontos Pizza. I love when I ask for extra extra pepperoni and they give me 4 extras... Go. Now. Run!! Great price. Great choices. Awesome pizza! This is a great place for people like me with allergies. There is no shellfish/seafood so I was confident there wouldn't be a cross contamination issue. Being able to watch them prepare from crust to finish is great too. They really do try to cater to any food sensitivities. I loved that you could mix and pick, trying new creations for only $10. My only complaint would be that there isn't a delivery option when you just can't get away to pickup. Otherwise, well worth the trip and a great inexpensive dinner when everyone in your house likes a different pizza. read more

Good pizza but 2 stars because of cross contamination, a fatty chunk of meat was on my vegetable pizza and there was corn in there that I didn't ask for. Disgusting to find meat when you are a vegetarian. They don't change gloves so you will %100 have wet ham hands touching your veggies. read more

Best pizza place in the city for sure!! Staff were friendly and fast when putting together our pizza. It does take a while to cook but the pizza is so delicious it's definitely worth it. Also $10 for an unlimited topping pizza is an unbeatable price. We absolutely love Za and we go almost every week. Tried another thin crust place that copied Za called Pronto pizza but it was more expensive and the crust wasn't as good. read more

Well...let me start by saying the pizza was very good...but ended up gulping a portion of it down and leaving with half of it. My friend had never tried it before and I took her to the Ellice location about 8:20 pm on a Thursday....they're SUPPOSED to be open til 11:00 pm. As we walked up to the door there was a hand written note taped to it saying they were closing at 10 pm...ok...we went in and started our order. Just as they put our pizzas in the oven the guy behind the counter announced they're closing at 9 pm now and had someone go update the note on the door. We sat down to eat after our pizzas finished cooking. At 8:55 pm we were told we had 5 minutes...not impressed...and apparently it's not the first time. I get that some nights will be slower than others but if I can't be sure the place will be open according to the posted hours then I'll not even bother and go somewhere more reliable. read more
