I didn't…read morepersonally select the HVAC company--I worked with Tony Vicente, an HVAC consultant from Revise (a Mass Save partner). When the technicians arrived for the installation, I was surprised to see vans labeled DiPietro Heating and Cooling. I was never given a choice to select a local HVAC contractor, and after reading reviews, I'm honestly shocked this company is still in business. The problems started less than a year after installation. In October 2024, I realized the heat wasn't working. Since it was still under the 1-year warranty, I called and a technician came to fix it. In April 2025, it failed again and I was charged $290 for service. Just two weeks later, another technician had to come back--this time, he discovered the thermostat wasn't even properly connected, a basic setup mistake that should've been caught during the install or first visit. Now, in mid-June, I tried to turn on the AC for the first time this season and it's not working again. When I called, I was told it would be another $200 for a service visit. This is a brand-new system, and I've had multiple issues in just six months. I no longer feel confident in their workmanship or diagnostic skills. It's frustrating to have paid for a new system and already be dealing with recurring issues and mounting service fees. I hope this review helps others ask more questions, especially if going through Mass Save or working with a consultant. If I had known the installer would be DiPietro, I would have asked for alternatives.

These guys operate as Revise. They installed a partial heat pump. What a miserable experience. I…read morehad cancer in 2017, and I went on public assistance after. I did a Revise audit. I explained that we had a cold side of the house, used a space heater in our bedroom ten hours a night. the Revise audit rep said that a heat pump would lower our heating costs. Let's start off. DiPietro Heating and Cooling is the guys who operate as Revise. They never told me, and at all times these guys showed up as Revise. The delayed product registration came back as Revise. I was provided with no plans and the one set of slides that said approved includes a minisplit in the basement which was never installed. No documentation, but I was told that 2 bedrooms and the bathroom (the cold side) was approved. I was told there would be a run through on the day of installation. November 11, 2024, The two techs who arrived to install the HVAC heat pump did no run through. They left with insulation on our floors, blowing from the ducts they installed, they left there things, exposed insulation in the intake and they handed me the three installation manuals. When I asked the technician a question, he said, "I don't know anything about these units." This is the guy who installed my unit! It was very clear the first night, the thermostat did not work properly. Even when set to 70 and the Nest thermometer read 72, 73 the unit continued to blast hot hot air at full blast. I would have to turn the thermometer down to 68, to turn the heat off. Complained. Told this was normal. In what world? My audit rep told me to play around with it. I did. I was able to lessen effects and save my electricity bill somewhat. A quick and easy read through the manuals and it was quickly apparent, they didn't install the unit according to spec. They needed to do a hard reset and reinstall the unit according to spec. I complained. They said the unit was operating fine. They placed the thermostat on the opposite side of the house from the rooms its serves. The thermometer on the heat pump thermostat, directly above our Nest for my gas heat, showed a consistent minus 2 degree variance. Remember heat rises, as it's above it could be expected a plus 2 degree variance. The thermostat was installed tilted and not level. I complained and complained. I reached out to the manufacturer. The unit wasn't registered. Finally, a month later, Revise (aka DiPietro) sent a tech back out, all he did was yell that everything was functioning normally, installed properly. He declared, the thermostat reads the same temperature as the Nest, while at that exact time, the thermostat showed the same minus 2 degree variance. He lied and ignored it. They installed an oversized vent in my bathroom. The installation suggested there was a smaller vent, the audit rep said they had one and could install it. But the argumentative Revise tech (or should I say DiPietro), said it didn't exist. On a couple of other concerns, he yelled at me more and then left. The heat pump was again performing as bad as when they installed it. I reviewed all that had happened, and sent two emails to the initial guy who did the assessment. He said he would forward it to a manager. Randy calls me up. "We will take care of you, now that it's in my hands." The following day, I returned his call and left him a voicemail. NEVER HEARD BACK. After the New Year, on the day I was to follow up with Randy, Revise reaches out by text with scheduling something. I tell the rep all how "in my hands" Randy, and she says, "text Randy." Not that she would follow up. I texted Randy. No response from him or anyone. My heating costs, (electric and gas combined) since installation have been up 20 percent that first month, and 15 percent since. Ehile the Heat pump thermostat set currently set to 68 reads 69, my cold rooms are 66 and 65. Costs up. Heat down. No answers. Don't use this company. I will take my complaints to the DTE, and legislators. This is a horrible company.

I was dealing with "Thermoil in Belmont, MA" and got zero answers from them with back and forth nonsense about an electric water heater that I needed replaced. So after a few months of nothing from "Thermoil", I texted 128 Plumbing in Wakefield on a Sunday, got a response and had an appointment for the beginning of the week. They had a person come over to look at the work I needed done and the next day they had "Tony and Santos" come over for the installation of a new electric water heater. They have great service plans for their customers, giving you the top products offered in the field for your piece of mind on longevity and durability. You know who you are dealing with when someone comes over to work in your house with company vehicles. Not someone in a beat up personal vehicle that looks like they are having issues. If there were more star ratings I could give for 128 Plumbing it would be a 100% star rating. Charlie Boyd Chelsea, MA

Downgrading to two stars. I still stand by the initial review (hence the second star) - Hiram did…read morerespond promptly when we were somewhat desperate and cobbled something together that seemed to work. Until it didn't. A few months after the install, all units stopped working after a storm. After months of back-and-forth, he finally realized -- through trial and error - that the boards of all units are fried and need to be replaced. His best guess? "Your condenser probably got hit by lightning" (condenser is on the roof, but we have a lightning rod; there's been no indication otherwise that the building got hit by lightning). A few weeks pass by, some more rain, same thing happens again. Replace all the boards again. "Your condenser keeps getting hit by lightning". A few more weeks, same thing again. By this point a year has passed after the install and we have spent most of that year with our $30,000 mini splits completely non-functional. It's also pretty clear that it's an issue with the install and nothing to do with imaginary lighting. Then Hiram has the audacity to inform us that our one-year contract has expired and now we have to start paying him for repairs, even though this issue started while we were still under contract and has persisted for months because Hiram has simply been unable to fix it. At this point, I was willing to just move on and hire a more competent contractor to fix the issue. That's when we started having other contractors look at the system and realized what a horrendous job Hiram had done. Most egregiously, the wiring had been done incorrectly, creating a huge FIRE HAZARD and potentially exposing our entire household and our neighbors to significant PROPERTY DAMAGE and potentially loss of life. See attached screenshot from assessment. In addition, there have been numerous other issues with the install: - Water repeatedly leaking from the heat pumps into our house when it rains - Exposed lines - Condenser freely standing on the roof, not affixed to anything - Slopily taped line set covers - Sloppily installed water pumps - Overall poor craftsmanship See attached images. We are currently addressing the issues one by one with multiple contractors. To be clear, WE ARE STILL WITHOUT A/C TWO YEARS AFTER THE INSTALL. We only really had it working for ~6 months. Unclear if it's even salvageable. In hindsight, there were also multiple red flags that we overlooked in the beginning, but should have given us pause: - Hiram did not know that Fujitsu is Japanese. How can you not know the country of origin of your main supplier? - He drilled through brick in our apartment without any precautions, filling our entire house with brick dust. He had no idea it's hazardous to breathe in, he didn't even put a mask on himself. Our entire condo was covered in brick dust. We had a 1-year-old kid at the time. - He did not clean up properly after himself, our son ended up with a glass shard in his foot Overall, I would not recommend Hiram's services to anyone. He is polite and responsive, but when push comes to shove, his work is not just poor quality, but outright dangerous. Hiram, before you post some sob response like "I'm just trying to feed my family man", consider this - you put my family, and my neighbors' families at risk because of your incompetence. And you ultimately refused to take responsibility. You should be ashamed of your work and of your character. (Responding to Hiram's response) -- there were no "stories", I was just trying to help you figure out what could be causing this. Yes, you definitely blamed lightning multiple times. I had multiple contractors take a look at it and say the same things. This is not "Mother Nature". This is just a plain bad job.

While the cooling works fine, the first-floor units cannot maintain comfortable temperatures during normal New England winter weather. When outdoor temperatures drop below ~40°F, the system struggles to heat the space above the low 60s, and during colder weather temperatures can fall into the 50s. These Lennox low-temperature units were represented as being capable of operating down to 5°F, so this performance is unacceptable for a primary heating system. Before installation, we were told supplemental gas heat might only be needed on "very cold" days. We reasonably understood that to mean single-digit temperatures, not typical winter temperatures in the 20s and 30s. , Technicians twice confirmed in fall 2024 that our units were functioning properly, but we were still very uncomfortable. Climate Zone did not respond to repeated requests for help throughout the winter. We eventually contacted Mass Save, another HVAC contractor, and the Massachusetts Attorney General's office for assistance. Mass Save informed us that Climate Zone failed to document a required Manual J calculation and failed to obtain a permit (verified by Boston Inspectional Services). Another reputable HVAC contractor told us the system was improperly designed for airflow and heating distribution and suggested the setup likely would not have passed inspection. We were also told that reputable contractors would typically correct issues like this at no cost to the homeowner. The Attorney General's Office attempted to mediate, but Andy refused to cooperate. The only solution ultimately offered by Andy was to install a supplemental electric baseboard heater (which is more costly and less efficient), despite the fact that we paid for a whole-home heat pump system intended to handle our heating needs efficiently. Throughout our dealings, Andy did not behave respectfully and refused to take accountability. The experience was frustrating due to the lack of communication and accountability, and the unwillingness to find a meaningful solution. Our contract included a "100% Satisfaction Guarantee," but in practice we were left with an expensive system that does not adequately heat our home during much of the fall, early spring, and all winter. Consequently, we must still rely on our gas heat system, defeating the purpose of reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficient upgrades. I urge you to save yourself the stress and have your project completed by a reputable contractor. The systems in place designed to protect consumers are no guarantee.
