Nicholas Yust's metal artwork left quite an impression on me...after having visited his gallery recently. In a word...STUNNING. As I walked into the gallery, the first things that caught my eye were two of Mr. Yust's "plasma" pieces. These brilliant, abstract pieces just explode with color and energy, and are unique to just about anything I've seen in the decorative art world. As I ventured further into the gallery, I found myself captivated not only by the meticulous craftsmanship that went into each of Mr. Yust's creations, but by the fact that many of the pieces seemed to come to life and "jump out" at me...and truly had "personalities" of their own. I was also very impressed with the variety of Mr. Yust's work, with each piece being very distinct in its own right. Nicholas Yust is undoubtedly a master craftsman, and a "master of metals," if you will...and I left his gallery with the firm belief that if you can imagine it, Mr. Yust can create it! So, you have to check this new spot at the corner of Eastern & Stanley. From the architecture to the fine art, and sculpture, the Yust Gallery is BRINGING IT! The fabulous works of metal art and tastefully designed decor really exemplify the stunning presence of these masterfully constructed pieces of art. There is a healthy amount of natural light to balance the room, and new art to appreciate on nearly every wall space. Columbia Tusculum is certainly better for having such a modern destination tucked into its historic folds. There are several new popular bars and restaurants nearby that opened recently, and lots of cool places who have called this winning destination home since the late 70's that are still thriving. The opinion of locals and visitors alike is that the Yust Gallery is the perfect addition to this energetic and growing entertainment district. We had the best time last week, and already made a plan to bring friends this coming Friday. They have regular business hours, and a great website with additional designs. I've been a customer and a fan of Nick's work for many years, and was extremely impressed with how his worked has evolved since my first purchase in 2009. Many artists tend to have a "common artistic theme" in their work, but as I walked through the Yust Gallery earlier this month, I was taken aback by the broad scope of the work on display in this lovely gallery. It's difficult to sum up Nick's incredible work in a few words, just as it is difficult to capture the beauty of his work with a photographic lens. Innovative, artistic, awe-inspiring are the words that immediately come to mind. The gallery is conveniently located just outside of the downtown Cincinnati area ( for us out-of-towners ), and is the perfect facility to exhibit the talent of this dynamic artist. We just bought three additional pieces from Nicholas and have one already hanging in our home in Hilton Head. He is obviously very talented in creating works of metal sculpture, but he also stands out in his professional approach to working with his customers. We have purchased both existing pieces and commissioned pieces, and his understanding of what we wanted in the commissioned piece was so good that it was right the first time. He even agreed upfront to keep it if it didn't turn out to be just right for what we needed. I attended the Grand Opening of Yust Gallery on March 28, 2015. Nicholas Yust's artwork demonstrates an innovative use of texture and design that appeals to a variety of décor styles. I found myself mesmerized by his colorful abstract and landscape pieces that seemed to exhibit a 3-dimensional illusion. Throughout the evening, I observed Mr. Yust as he greeted all of his guests, answered questions and provided tours of his workshop. I was in town on business with some time to spare. A quick search for galleries and Yelp lead me to this gem. The gallery is new, modern, and Nicholas was a class act. He showed me around, talked about his work, and took me on a tour of the actual workshop where he creates the art. To truly appreciate his work, I highly recommend visiting the gallery.
