When we rejected this and said they have all the information they need, they finally sent our refund back to paypal .Not to our bank account which it came out of. We also had purchased two items that were said to be 925. They may be 925 somewhere in the world but are not up to our standards here in America as they broke out my wife and left a green hue on her skin. The Velvet Cricket has lost our business and we cannot recommend them.

They've recently started curbside pickup which is a bonus! Everything inside is Cincinnati themed to include stickers, masks, shirts, leggings, hats, scarves. BEWARE of Cowan's Auction, now owned by the horrible Hindman's Auction house. They charged a 25%…read morepremium and then tried to charge me 87 dollars to ship a 200 dollar 18.5x25.5 poster from Ohio to California. When I complained they said they thought it was framed and they would lower the shipping. They then send a bill including 50 dollars shipping. When I wrote them asking why the cost was so high to roll a small poster in a tube with postage I know is less than 12 dollars they wouldn't reply to my email. Instead they charged my credit card, including the 50 dollars and a 7.50 credit card charge. A few years ago I also had a problem with Hindmans when he sold me some circus posters in a lot for 527 dollars and I found out they were not original but cheap reproductions. I called and they agreed to cancel the sale but six months later Hindman called and rudely demanded payment. He said that even though the information on Live Auctioneers didn't say they were reproductions they were covered since their own website disclosed they were reproductions. When I refused to pay he tried to ban me from bidding on Live Auctioneers. He then resold the posters again without disclosing on Live Auctioneers that they were worthless reproductions. I buy from over 100 auction houses and Cowans/Hindman are the worse I have dealt with. They lie, they cheat and they rip you off. BUYERS BEWARE.

These were small silver-plated pieces, candlesticks, serving utensils, and a small lithograph. The shipping and handling came to over $350, on a $295 bill! If I didn't pay it, I wouldn't be able to bid on other items from other auction houses, through the auction site that Cowan's used. I have had items from over 6 auction houses and NONE charged anything like Cowan's for shipping and handling. I was extremely disappointed in their callous communications, and lack of integrity. I repeat, don't work with Cowan's, you will regret it.

I was initially unsure if the piece could be salvaged, it had so had many problems from years of bad storage, including folds, fading, yellowed tape, acid burns, water stains, and insect damage. This was a completely remote transaction, I spoke to and exchanged email with Christy to get started. She was great and understood that I had a limited budget for the project. From Southern California, I sent them the folded and stained poster (about 30"x30") and they returned it bright, clean, and pressed flat to acid free museum board. Their packaging was bullet proof ! It was a painting from the mid 1800's and was in bad shape (cracks, chips, and discoloration). They were skilled and meticulous in their work, and they brought this painting and frame back to life!

Main Auction picked up a truckload of the contents of a relative's estate (silver, china, artwork,…read morefurniture, collectibles, etc.) in April, 2025. They auctioned it off in several sales over the ensuing months, auctioning the last of it November 1, 2025. (The sale July 27, 2025 for example grossed $2,950.) The heirs have received NO accounting of ANY of the sales and not a cent of the proceeds. This is a clear violation of the Ohio Auctioneer law. Justin Karp has said many times he would send an accounting the next day, but has never done so.
