May be we are spoiled here in the US because we get it all the time without charges . The food was mediocre at best but the service was curt, inconsistent, and rushed. The place looked old and tired. For a 40 year surviving restaurant with table clothes, etc... I expected more. It's possible to pick up some English snacks at this time with dishes like steak and kidney pie and the old favourite - fish and chips. It is the Chinese cuisine, however, that really stands out and is worth making the trip for.
