It sits right on a two-lane coastal "highway," barely 1/4 mile from Lake Michigan, but would just as likely be found in some backwater Alabama swamp (not an insult, just an ambience). What a weird experience. I'm always interested in the colorful characters these tiny little towns and their stores. The pizza? Some of the best I've found south of Holland. The sauce had a hint of sweetness, and the crust had a couple of semi burnt bubbles that added to the delicious crunch of the crust. He was 92 years old. I said "hey devil" and he looked back at me. I asked if he was there and he gave me his dates on island. During our conversation (which was basically a stare at each other, a lot can be said with that type of interaction) both of our mouths tried to make words but nothing came out. I shook his hand and said thank you. The look on his face was one of the best stories I ever heard.

A Marathon Brand auto/truck stop…read more This place has been around for a while .... one of the older truck stops I can think of. I'm not sure if the scales work or not, they have 3 or 4 diesel pumps. Hot food offered inside is cash and carry. They have a nice booth area set up to sit and eat your food. Small restrooms, a few showers, decent convenience store. Transient truck parking fills up quickly when the sun goes down.
