As he had never had them before, I had just gotten done explaining what a bao bun was and what a delicacy it was. When the food came out I intended to have one and for him to sample the other, but upon trying mine I realized this would be an awful first experience with a bao bun and may give him a negative impression of the dish altogether as the bao buns were EXTREMELY DRY. A demoralizing experience and I'm surprised I was even able to win my pool match after such a subpar meal, which shook me to my very core. The waitresses comped our drinks but did not remove the buns. The lo mein was delicious. It is my ardent hope that Mien Noodles is able to master the bao bun as a way to give those who have never had one before the joy of the bun. It is the decent and right thing to do.
