After doing thorough research we found MANY unfavorable reviews and they failed to return our initial calls. I'd consider that a few red flags but we're grateful as it shifted us onto a path where we found an exceptional replacement. Since obtaining this new doctor we've requested the medical records from this doctor since June 19, 2023. They have failed to provide the records for both of our children. In calling their front desk the women who answers the phone was extremely contentious and avoided taking any action. The doctor ended up responding with a threatening email (see enclosed) stating we need to pay her office $50 to release the records. Keep in mind we never gave our previous doctor's office the authorization to give these records to this office. They are violation of California state law. They are bullies. I wouldn't trust them with the care of my children. PLEASE BE AWARE THIS OFFICE OPERATES OUT OF PROFIT.

ANYWAY, after i met Dr. Chu my worries went out the window. He is so funny and great and really understanding and knowledgeable. He really wants to get to the bottom of whatever is going wrong with you. He accepts my insurance (Blue Cross PPO), and didn't even make me pay my copay when I had to wait fifteen minutes after my appointment time. I really recommend Dr. Chu. I'm crazy picky about Dr's and hospitals but i was pleasantly surprised this time.

The reviews are certainly true that Dr. Kirsch is old school with lots of papers and books all over the place in his office. This may understandably deter some people, but he has good credentials and he's very knowledgeable. I am a picky, neurotic, hypochondriac, and Dr. Kirsch was always patient with me and listened. He was good about referrals. I wasn't crazy about the medical group's referred specialists, but he is no longer with that medical group. Contrary to other reviews, it was my experience that the office staff was always friendly and helpful. Like I said, I'm a bit picky about medical services, and I found that I could count on Dr. Kirsch.

His biggest strength is that he really takes the time to listen and answer your questions, even if he has a messy office full of books that he checks to answer those questions. The reason for two stars off is because of his front office staff who don't seem to want to do their jobs. They are inhospitable and, if you're lucky, will answer the phone when you call or even acknowledge you when you walk into the office. And, god forbid you expect to get a call with the results of any lab tests; that simply won't happen even if you're on your death bed. Instead, you must call them--only to find out they won't even give you results over the phone; you must instead come in person to get them (and expect attitude if you ask for copies as opposed to a glance). And, if you don't get the referral(s) you requested, they'll huff and puff when you ask them to fix the situation. They really need to be replaced or retrained, along with procedures institutionalized that reflect technological advances like email, mail, fax, and phone and working in the best interest of a patient. In a way, having him as a doctor is like a collision between the past and the future of young, selfie-obsessed receptionists. Bottom line: Your patience (pun intended) will be tested! But, if you have this virtue, you'll get past the front office staff into the office with the good doctor.
