I am writing this review as a caution to aircraft buyers and owners who rely on maintenance records when evaluating an aircraft.
In connection with my purchase of a King Air 200B, the aircraft logbooks contained entries from Yuba-Sutter Aviation indicating that certain inspection work had been completed. After the purchase, Elliott Aviation reviewed the aircraft during subsequent work and discovered that the inspection reflected in the logbook entries had not actually been performed as represented.
This was not a minor issue. The discovery resulted in more than $440,000 of additional required work and approximately four months of unexpected aircraft downtime. Had this issue been identified before closing, I would not have purchased the aircraft under the terms that I did.
Aircraft maintenance logbooks are not casual paperwork. Owners, buyers, brokers, lenders, insurers, and maintenance facilities rely on them to determine the condition, value, and airworthiness status of an aircraft. In my experience, the discrepancy between the logbook entries and the actual aircraft condition created a major financial loss and a serious disruption.
Based on my experience, I would urge future aircraft buyers to independently verify any major inspections or maintenance entries associated with Yuba-Sutter Aviation before relying on them in a purchase decision. I would also recommend that buyers require supporting documentation, work orders, inspection checklists, and independent confirmation before accepting logbook entries at face value.
This review reflects my personal experience and the findings communicated to me after Elliott Aviation's review of the aircraft. read more
