This is going to be a very descriptive review so hold on, haha. First, I do want to clarify that I did get my license and I didn't think I ever would without driver's training, however this particular company had a few concerns. My very first lesson was mostly parking lot practice and a bit around the block, but I don't feel like I had any "real" training. I opted for the Gold package. I didn't practice parking, straight line backing,lane positioning (I got marked on that on my driver's test) I didn't practice a lot of the things on the list of things the first lesson entails on the website. I requested a different driver after that lesson so I trained with David instead and he was great! He had me practice my weak areas many times until I got it down, he posted evaluations and comments after every lesson (first driver didn't do that) I was glad to have gone the route I did or I would've felt like I wasted $800. My behind the wheels test day finally arrived and the car I took my test in was not the same car I had practiced in every other lesson and we did not go over the check list in that car like we did every other time in the other car so I forgot where the Emergency break was. In the other car, it was a pedal. In this car,it was a button. So it was sort of frustrating that everything was switched up on me so quickly. We didn't do any freeway training, but that's okay. I felt we were behind because of the first lesson. I'll need to practice that on my own. On the website, for the Gold package, it says "This package includes everything covered in the Basic Teen Package, plus we will provide an hour and a half of training before the student's DMV exam, as well as our vehicle for taking the exam. We can also schedule the test for you. This package is ideal for those parents and students wanting to ensure they pass the driver examination. We've found that warming up with an instructor before the exam makes students confident and prepared which produces excellent results." When I initially read that, I was under the impression that I would be practicing with the DMV examiner before the test, I liked the idea of practicing with my examiner, however I did not. The wording on that was a bit misleading. Oh and on the days following the road test, I "practiced the road test" with my instructor several times but the rout I took was nothing like the road test. We went on a roundabout in which I only practiced once before,the morning of the test. I didn't understand the roundabout and I did not take the correct exit she told me to, so I went on a completely unfamiliar route and drove very slow and got marked for that lol I live in Paradise and I'm not used to Chico residential streets so I drove slow in case there was a hidden stop sign. I just feel like I got marked on a lot of stuff the school could've taught me. I did spend almost $1000 on it. Oh and also, on my third lesson, we were practicing in Chico and we came up on a stoplight that looked like the one in the picture. I started taking a left turn when my light was a green light and not a green arrow, which clearly states I must yield to oncoming traffic. I was told to go and almost got hit by a driver taking a right turn. That bothered me because I felt the instructor should have taken me on roads he was familiar with, because he didn't know that was a protected and unprotected stoplight. We all learned a valuable lesson that day on that light though. I take responsibility for that too, but I listened to him when he said go so I guess I got confused. ETA: I wanted to edit my review and add the phone operator was really sweet and she was definitely my favorite person I had the opportunity to interact with throughout this whole experience. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this school! We had an awful experience at another school and came to this one amid lessons. The customer service went above and beyond! My daughter loved her instructor (XO) and learned so much during her lesson. The owner, other instructors, and receptionist were so informative and helpful. They made the move between schools seamless. They printed out papers for me, gave me a stamped envelope to send them, scheduled the girls without an issue, signed permits, and just made the whole process amazing! They have rescheduled all 3 of my daughter's appointments. This last time was 10 minutes before she was supposed to have her lesson. They said it was too windy even though it was not even windy. (It had been windy 2 hours earlier, but the wind died down until the evening, when it had picked back up). Also, they have never showed up on time. The instructor showed up 45 minutes late to one appointment. 2nd appointment, the instructor had my daughter drive her back to the office to change instructors. This, to me, is a very poor business practice. If I had known that this company was so unreliable, I would've picked another driving school. *Today the instructor was a half hour late again and shorted 2 hour lesson by over 10 minutes. Really wish I hadn't prepaid for all three lessons because they are super flakey & unprofessional. They were 45 min late the first time. Today the instructor was over an hour late and didn't even bother to call. I called the office, but nobody answered. I assumed they weren't coming at all. My daughter was really disappointed. Then he showed up and acted like nothing happened. I asked him if he realized he was an hour and ten minutes late. He said, "Well, I was dropping off other students." And offered no apology at all. This school is amazing. We drove two hours because the schools in our area were booking out too far and we wanted in ASAP. Local driving school had better availability than any other school. When we arrived they were nothing but spectacular. My child (being a teenager)forgot his paper permit. They explain the process and assisted us with the DMV so he could get another copy. (The DMV is next door, super convenient!) While I was waiting in the lobby I listened to them assist multiple customers With various issues. They were patient and informative. read more

This company has the worst customer service of any business in Yuba City. We had an appointment @ 0900 they called at 0920 to let us know she was running late but we would still get the 2 hours we paid for. Then we get a phone call from the office saying that we gave them the wrong address and that we would lose 30 min of driver training because their GPS took them to the wrong address. I have copies of mail i receive at my address which is the exact one i gave them. So they arrived at 0952 so 52 min late to begin with and then dropped her off at 1120 so basically they charge me full price for the training and we received less than an hour and a half. When i asked for a discount due to the fact we didn't receive the full 2 hours because their employee was lost they refused. The lady Cindy Menzes that works the phone was rude and unprofessional very argumentative and refused to help us even though their employee made the mistake. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. Very unprofessional and poor customer service. read more

Made an appointment for me 16 yr old daughter. It was during school. Wanted to pick her up in teacher parking lot. After 30 min of her waiting by herself out there, she called me. I called them and they said driver did not come to work. I was furious that they left my child out there. They seemed to think it was no big deal. Said it happens sometimes. Offered me $25. I am a person that truly values customer service. If the service is outstanding, I will travel far and wide. I called Local Driving School yesterday and spoke to Nicole and Sarah. Both of these ladies were phenomenal. They were patient and answered all of my questions. They were willing to consider any accommodations that we may have needed. Often times you can call some companies and they are rushing you off the phone. Not this place!! Then today I called back and was honored to speak to the owner Manning or Manny (sorry). You talk about an awesome guy. Even though he was the only person in the office at the time AND the phones were ringing off the hook, he kept his composure and still offered top-notch customer service. He accommodated my needs which made it more comfortable for me to allow my son to be instructed by the school. The instructors were very helpful in encouraging and teaching my nervous young driver! Customer service is great with home pick up and drop off. I recommend adding the option of the before test prep and DMV appointment. They schedule your test appointment, pick up your student, have a cram session, take them to the DMV for you and the student uses the Local Driving School vehicle for the test. Then they drop your student back off at home.This eliminates the nail biting mom from even having to be there! My son takes his test Feb 10th. Wish us luck! read more

We used this company for our son's 6 hour behind the wheel training. The instructors are fine but the 3 stars are for scheduling. We picked times and dates that worked for us but on numerous occasions they rescheduled on their own without making sure it will work out for us and on one occasion they showed up to our house without our knowledge. Hired this company for my teenage sister the fall of 2015. I'm only giving this company two stars because sister really liked the instructor, Amarjit. I was upset because they do what they call "Piggy Backing" driving sessions. This means another inexperienced driver will be picking up YOUR CHILD and then driving back to their own home. I was really upset the first time I found out they did this, and I called and asked that they NOT do this again with my sister. They apologized and told me it wouldn't happen again. They lied, they did it again. For every session of the three my sister had, another kid picked her up and or she picked up and drove another kid home. Two of the three times the other kid was on their first driving session with the school. I understand that they are busy but I feel that this practice is unacceptable and done as a way for the company to be frugal and not lose time/money. read more
