A coworker recommended this Chinese restaurant. Having been away from home for 2 weeks, I was craving Chinese and gave this a try. The restaurant has a solid wood door so u can't even tell from the outside that it's a restaurant unless u look to the right of the door and sees their menu. This isn't your typical take-away Chinese, pretty upscale and trendy. Prices are higher but definitely the best Chinese I had in Manchester and London. I would call this a Chinese fusion restaurant. The dishes aren't your authentic Chinese food but it is more on the side of Cantonese cooking.
We ordered the pepper and salt squid, chicken wings and chicken sweet corn soup as starters. The squid tasted just like the pepper & salt squid I would normally get in NYC/Philly Chinatown and the wings were comparable to your Chinese take-out wings. Soup was delicious as well...very similar flavors to what I would normally get in the states.
For main course, we shared a deconstructed duck with pancake and a lap chang fried rice. The duck is their version of the Peking duck without the skin (which is the best part). Fried rice was disappointing because it was pretty bland.
The dessert we ordered was outstanding! It was the fried banana fritters with lychee ice cream! Tempura battered banana with the best tasting lychee ice cream I have ever had!
Overall, very satisfied with the meal. I will return here again next time I am back for another business trip! read more
