After getting quote from a handful of Solar companies I chose YSG because they offered the best prices and were the most transparent as far as financing, installation, and the products that would be part of the system. Also I was never pressured into decisions, credit checks, or contract unlike all other companies out there. I worked with Kenneth who is fantastic sales guy to work with and always follows up on your questions, picking up your calls, follows up on emails, and comes through on all of the promises made. So as a backdrop to this review, note that I never give one star reviews except in case of severe problematic behavior on the part of the company, which I am now convinced of. So we ordered and had YSG Solar install our solar panels back in 2018, and while there were issues after the installation (partially due to Covid, but also due to bad installation issues causing us to fail inspection twice), we were willing to let bygones be bygones because the system was working and we just wanted to move on. However, in March of this year, our system stopped working, and we've been trying to call them over and over but no one picks up or ever calls back (which is doubly problematic when their operations number says that they'll return calls "within 24 hours"). We've also now discovered that even though our contract states "25 year performance and labor warranty", they never extended the warranty of our inverter. You can only do so within the first two years of purchase, so it is now impossible to extend it, and with YSG never responding, our only choice currently seems to be paying someone else $2K to replace the inverter because YSG won't return our calls or emails. Note that I also have a BBB complaint against them, and I'm not the only one - do your research before using this company! read more

We successfully had our system installed back in 2016 and things went well. However, this summer our system stopped working and getting any response from YSG solar was impossible. They did not answer the phone. Did not return calls from many voicemails and only responded after many weeks when we filed a BBB report. The email they sent via the BBB was to suggest we call them. Unlike many of the horrible reviews (posted literally everywhere), we actually did get our system fully installed by YSG Solar, and even with **their two years of delays (and two failures) for the electrical inspections**, I was willing to let bygones by bygones since we had a working system at the end of it all. Promises were not kept, but we didn't want to keep fighting and we thought we were set since the contract literally states that all major hardware had a 25 year labor and performance warranty from the manufacturer. How foolish we were to trust this company. Last month, our system just stopped working (no power generation at all), and after looking at the inverter (the brains of the solar system), it was very clearly a HW issue with it (literally, the inverter states "Error 18xB7 HW ERROR). So we naively thought we could get ahold of YSG Solar to work through the warranty process. However, after two weeks of constantly being ignored (through dozens of calls and multiple emails) I went straight to the inverter manufacturer, and that's when everything went from bad to worse. What we received was not a 25 year, manufacturer-warrantied, labor and performance-included system, but a 12 year parts-only inverter warranty. We've had to manually set up the RMA, and it will cost us two grand(!!!) to have someone else install the inverter. What's worse, YSGSolar still refuses to talk to us at all, and it was only after the BBB stepped in that we even got any response at all (and of course, the response was basic lies and fake "let us know how we can help" offers that they have no intention of following through with. We now have to pay that $2000, AND file for arbitration, AND deal with zero support at all, even after having been promised 25 years of peaceful power generation. They do not follow through with any of their promises, and after reading everything else others have stated, I find it an unexpected blessing that at least we're not in a worse state. In the end, the only nice thing I could say at this point is that if I could rate them negative stars, I would probably still only rate them zero stars instead of negative, but that's only because we got lucky and somehow our system actually got completed. But their false promises and lack of support will screw you over if you use YSGSolar, so don't. Save your money and go with another installer. read more

YSG is a FRAUD. In 2019 I went into contract with them. Until 2020 my panels were not installed. After a botched installation and no inspection my roof began to immediately collapse. YSG never acknowledged the roofs condition with me and proceeded with the fraudulent sale. For 3 years now I've emailed, spoken to members of YSG and even had their own independent contractors investigate the roof and installation and they themselves said the roof was compromised. Until now I've tried everything and now proceed with legal actions against this company and named defendants in the lawsuit as individuals and in their official capacity. I had solar installed about 18 months ago by YSG. There were some minor miscommunications early on, but my salesman Ken bent over backwards to make everything perfect. Price was very good compared to other quotes, including Tesla (which was 4K higher). After the first year, my system generated more power than promised. Now, I'm back for more. I'm having another 6kw added to my 12kw system. Looking forward to another great transaction. I've attached a photo of the first installation, not yet including the expansion. Notice that there is NO disgusting conduit, and they even moved my roof vents so that the arrays are perfectly symmetrical (unlike the ugly systems you see where the panels are broken up around vents). I don't actually think I've ever dealt with a less competent company. The odd thing is, their incompetence is almost equally matched with arrogance and rudeness. I ordered solar from YSG in July of 2019. It was an entire Brooklyn roof of panels. 26 panels, about 26k for the entire install, before rebates etc. It's now February, 2021 and YSG still hasn't completed the work. They've missed or broken dozens and dozens of appointments and promises. I literally have been calling, emailing, screaming and fighting with this company for almost two years. I've seen employee after employee leave, disgusted with having to work for this company. The boss, one David Magid, won't answer customers personally at any level. Where do I start from? My Awful Experience with YSG began back in February 2020. After numerous of phone calls with Kenneth, the sales associate, pushing to sign the contract to have YSG install my solar. Upon our conversation he promised that the system will be fully installed before April of 2020 which of course it never happened because YSG doesn't have installers. FYI, YSG sublease their contracts, which means you are not dealing with installers that directly work with them. Finally, they scheduled dates in June of 2020, I would call out of work, but they would not show up for various excuses. This occurred three times! Finally, they showed up the second week in July, when they came they were unprepared missing many equipment and material. And to top it all, they didn't have a master electrician on site. I have contacted Kenneth, and requested to have the master electrician on site, he claimed that the electrician has a flat tire and they were going to send him an Uber, and of course that was another story, the electrician never showed up. The biggest problem was when the installers went on the top of my roof and began drilling, realized that the drawing that YSG provided was inaccurate and at this point was too late. YSG, claims that they get the best 4K satellite drawing of anyone's roof which is incorrect because they had to modify the drawing to place the panels, which I felt bad for the installers since I wanted to get this project over with since it's been taking too long. Installers would have to run to Home Depot and to the warehouse constantly and multiple times for missing equipment throughout the day, as a result, the projects continues to be delayed. Installers came approximately 6-7 times including the time when I was away, and completed the project without notifying me so that I would release the loan money to them. The procedure for opening up loans, which YSG is most concerned about this, the only THING they will harass you for. They run your credit twice to apply for a loan from a company called Green Sky, this money, they use to buy their equipments. Then , they will run your credit again by Service finance, and they will tell you that you have 18 months without any interest, which they will HARASS you until you make the validation phone call so the money is released to them. DON'T MAKE THAT MISTAKE which I did, unfortunately!!!! You are releasing the full money to YSG, without passing inspection, which it failed the first time, which occurred October 2020. The panels were up on the roof without being connected from August 10, 2020. After a conference call with CEO of the company (David), which I will tell you all about my experience with him. David is the owner of the company, he will get involved when you call up your loan companies as you contact them to let them know that the project is incomplete and you wouldn't want to release the money. This man will sweet talk to you, he will state various laws, will assure you that you will be pleased with their service when you see the discount on the electricity bill, he sells all the promises and doesn't fulfill any of them, because his aim was to get the money released and to pay the sales rep and the installers their commission. The last contact I had was on August 10,2020- he promised my system will be running and activated within 4-6 weeks. They will give you a credit until the system fully charged up, about 2-3 payments, but you have to constantly chase them, finally, I got it before I released my second loan payment to them. Again, this has been my biggest regret to sign up with this company, be aware of their scams. We are in January of 2021, my system is not fully connected, I have 10 out of 19 panels that are not connected to the server, they can't find anyone/ contractors to come to fix the mistakes of the installers since they have a reputation of not paying their contractors. The previous installers didn't provide the diagram to monitor the location of each panel on the roof, which I am entitle to, NEEDING TO KNOW THE SERIAL NUMBERS FOR WARRANTY PURPOSES!!!! I have opened multiple complains with both of the loan companies, I have tried to reach USG numerous of times, but still NO response, and I am responsible to pay ConEd, Green Sky, and Service Finance. I have ALL the DOCUMENTS between YSG and I and the thread of emails of ALL their Scams. Now, I am forced to take it to Court, do yourself a favor, pay the extra 2-3k and choose a company that has better customer service, has their own installers, instead of waiting more than a year, and yet haven't gotten much progress done. If you search the company on any site, they have BAD reviews all across, don't take a chance, it will cost you more. So I used this company on the recommendation of a friend and I absolutely regret it. Now I know this review is coming a few years too late but finally got around to doing it. I had the system installed in February 2018. The original design of the system was for 22 300 watt panels with the solaredge 7600 watt inverter making it a 6.6kwh peak system. Due to my house having a flat roof they would of had to put 2 panels on the lower roof so to keep it looking symmetrical we agreed to add 2 more panels to the system which should have made it a 7.2kwh peak system. Install went fairly smooth only issue was the installers left a mess in my basement, not a huge issue but unprofessional. Once we got into summer I started noticing my system is clipping at 5kwh. I found this odd considering the system size. I look at the inverter on my house and notice its not the size that was supposed to be put on. They installed the solaredge 5000 watt inverter. I brought this up to the company numerous times and was basically blown off every time and fed lines of crap as to why that inverter was put on. Fast forward to 2019 and we started getting a leak in the ceiling in my youngest kids room. YSG sent their roofer out to look at it and confirmed it was from the install. YSG only wanted to patch the spot on the roof. After arguing with them the agreed to remove the system and WE paid to have the roof replaced that they messed up. After the roof was replaced we fought with them for about another month to get the panels reinstalled. They kept canceling appointments, and one of the appointments we had the installers never came but aparently(according to them) had actually come and finished the job. Obviously a lie because the panels were still pulled up in front of my garage, oh and I couldn't use my garage this whole time because where the panels where. I do not recommend this company. They promise you one thing and don't deliver. Oh and I had talked to the owner of the company that installed my father's solar system and he confirmed what I already new which is that they under powered my system with the smaller inverter. I spent probably a good year going back and forth between a few companies looking for the best option. I called countless past customers for their experience etc before finally deciding to go with YSG. My neighbor had used YSG and had nothing but good things to say so I figured why not and gave it a shot. For a guy on the younger side, the owner really knows his stuff. He spent I'd say probably a collective 5 hours over the course of a few months answering my MANY calls and many emails. I feel like these days it's not typical to get the actual owner of a company on the phone but he made me feel comfortable like I was one of his guys and wasn't putting him out. The job itself took about a week. Everyone cleaned up after themselves. One thing I do want to say is there was a small hiccup that delayed the guys from finishing for an extra day but the crew handled it like champs. We've also had to do one warranty claim in the last year the system has been installed from rats chewing through a wire, and again his crew handled it like champs. If I ever get my dream vacation house I'll be calling up YSG to install solar for me again. read more

After installation we contacted them to obtain our rebate were told the salesperson no longer works there and they wouldn't honor the rebate. We entered into months of emails until they only gave us half with no explanation of why we weren't getting our full, promised refund. If your looking to go solar, YSG Solar in Ny, Ny is the company to go with. I've heard so many mixed things about so many companies that it came down to my husband and I doing our own research. I'm so very happy I came across YSG! I called and left a message, within an hour I had a call back! I spoke with a lovely man Ken! He answered all my questions, was thorough and even made points I didn't think about! That meant a lot because he was honest! Don't find that much anymore! A lot of times the roofs need to be replaced or re-roofed (if possible) to hold the weight of the solar panels, we needed it and decided it was the best way to go! U want the life of these panels to last and have the least amount of issues if any at all, so we did our roof! YSG recommended their roofer, Frank the roofer! That's what we called him lol! We did check around with other roofers but let me tell you the outrageous prices we got! Frank beat my other estimates by a couple thousand which I was a little sceptical about but what an amazing job he did! He was professional, his workers worked until they were finished, no standing around if you know what I mean! It looks beautiful. He's been in the roofing business for over 30 years which helps when the prices of materials are what they are! None the less he's doing my roof upstate next month! A few friends had they're roofs done and they were just as happy as we are! After the roof was finished YSG had everything from permits, contracts, and the best one was the rebate offers I wasn't sure we would get! (State and federal)Like winning a lotto lol! Within 2 weeks I had my solar panels installed, 2 weeks !!! My roof was done in 1day (Monday) by the following Monday the electrical work 1day and panels installed and completed the next ! From the roof to the panels, such clean work! Amazed at the efficiency and done in a timely manner. I asked another solar company to take a look and hopefully confirm the good work promised! This company is TERRIBLE and David, the manager doesn't care and knows NOTHING about customer service and the value of money. For a system that cost over $20,000, a year later, and my solar is still not connecting and I'm being charged my regular billing by Con Edison. After endless calls and emails, Raymond, Mary and everyone else in the office, is only focusing on the new customers, not ensuring that existing customers systems are up and running. They go days, weeks and even a month without a follow up or return call. Also, forget your credits and tax documents being done on time. I'm reporting this company to the IRS as well, because I'm sure I'm not the only one, but $20,000 is ALOT of money. I would not recommend this company based on false information even thought they bribe you with Amazon gift cards. With the countless days off from work and loss wages and even making purchases for their mistakes I took advantage to get my money.
