Age Penzance was a trade route to France,Spain & Ireland
& it was a fort then. William the Conqueror's brother
was given the manor in 1066. It was attacked by the
spanish during the Armada landing in 1595 & burned
down.Rebuilt,the Borlase family inherited it as a wedding gift
