South Florida Club Sport, formerly known as The Miami Sports and Social Club, was the first…read moreorganization to put organized coed soccer on the Miami map (among other sports, but if you know me well then you know soccer is the only sport that counts in my book). Before most of these soccer fields and adult leagues popped up around the Miami area, South Florida Club Sport was setting up soccer leagues at the KSP field (even before it expanded and is what it is today) and let me tell you, they know how to organize sports very, VERY well. I've played in several leagues for SFCS from 2005 till now and that just shows you how awesome they are. Not only was it a great way for me to stay in shape but the best part about it was I also met and made lifelong friends through the various leagues I joined throughout the years. Additionally, I've had many interactions with the owner of the company, Steve Arsenault, and he is nothing short of professional as well as friendly. He's always open to feedback from the league members so if you ever find yourself thinking of ways to improve the league you're playing in, just reach out to him and he'll be all ears. He also tries to set up other social events and trips for the league members which is always appreciated and enjoyable. What else is there to say except that this company has consistently established solid leagues for all kinds of sports and has brought the Miami community together in a social and fun way. If you're new to Miami or a native Miamian (Broward County counts, too), make it a point to join one of their leagues. You will not regret it! Their motto to me should be, "SFCS - making adult soccer leagues cool since the early 2000s."

I only reached out to Brian based on a Yelp review stating Brian scheduled a few tennis lessons…read morewhile the reviewer was on a short visit to Miami. Brian's response time was not great. Maybe a week to hear back. Only way you can get a pickleball lesson from Brian is by signing up for a months-long commitment. Might be a great tennis resource, but if you're looking for a pickleball lesson, don't start here. Spoiler alert: it doesn't take several months to learn how to play Pickleball. Brian wasn't especially cordial, but he did offer a few other suggestions. Because it took him forever to respond, however, I had already gotten a great response from a few other places.

Brian offers novice and intermediate group classes throughout the week and a package of six sessions costs $225. Classes take place at Kirk Monroe Tennis Center in Coconut Grove in the evenings. The classes I attend start at 8:00 pm and last until 9:30 pm, with an optional warmup at 7:30 pm. Attendance varies but is usually anywhere from 4-8 people depending on the night. Overall, I've learned a ton the handful of times I've gone. Brian is very knowledgeable and passionate about the sport. My fellow classmates are super friendly and encouraging... I'm starting to progress and will hopefully be confident enough one day to take part in one of the tournaments he organizes. No matter where you are on your tennis journey, I'd recommend giving Backhand City a try if you're looking to fine tune your skills!

My passion for the obstacle racing sport was reignited and burning brighter than ever before! I knew years ago there were local teams that trained for the sport I just didn't know who was still around after all these years that survived covid. My friend Sarah discovered Fitzone and invited me to come train on a Thursday night at the German Club in Miami. My first time training with Fitzone was May 2021 and after being out of the sport for many years I was absolutely terrible at the sport coming back in. I started training every Thursday night with the group and had a burning desire to get good at this. The founders Wilberth and Lily told me the only way to get good was to go to the trainings as often as possible so that's what I did. Obstacle training, trail run training, circuit, and track trainings are available for everyone. The mock 5k races once a month on Saturday mornings are my favorite. Fast forward a year and a half along with consistency over time by continuing to show up to training, I've accomplished things and conquered races that a year ago I could not do. This includes one of the hardest races in the sport. My improvements with race times have been shocking to say the least. I improved my Spartan Beast time from 5 hours 28 minutes in 2021 to 2 hours 33 minutes in 2022 which is only one example of the many positive changes in my performance. What I love the most overall is the community, coaching, support, and new friends I've made that share the same passion for obstacle racing. I have found a family and place that I call home here in Miami with Fitzone! I highly recommend you come train with us and make yourself at home.
