I went in to buy a specialty pencil and possibly some small tools at Evans ceramics. I was quoted a…read moreprice on the pencil that was lower than the price on it. I pointed this out and suggested I could buy some additional tools if the salesman gave me the price he quoted in the first place. This would loose him 2 dollars on the pencil but gain him 14 on the tools. So he wouldn't go for that so I just bought the pencil. When I asked if they carried an expensive type of glaze he said they did and walked away. I'm willing to spend more to buy local but not if you treat me badly when I shop with you. These were small items but I've been looking into some more expensive kilns and other supplies. I'm also the person who does a lot of the buying for a local art center. Unfortunately I will be purchasing online from now on.

They give you the paint you're going to use. I always want like 20 colors of paint. I know so many…read morepeople want like 3-5 colors of paint. That's not me. It seemed to be fine for everyone else. But I would have liked to dole out my own paint, because they gave me the wrong amounts because they didn't know how much I was going to use on any of it. So they gave me the same amount for all the colors. Not unreasonable. I am autistic and I have trouble speaking when a situation is new to me. So I couldn't articulate this at the time. Anyway, it all worked out and I am happy with the result. :) I would absolutely return. I had a great time with girlfriends, painting pottery and chatting.

I moved to Wichita on a long-term but temporary assignment for work, having never visited or even met anyone from Wichita. On my 3rd day in town, I happened to pick up a CityArts catalog at a local coffee shop and immediately scrambled to make the registration deadline for the Silversmithing class. This is honestly the best move I've made in ages -- the class is CHEAP at $125 for 10 weeks/25 hours of instruction and so so so so so worth it. I've now taken 2 terms and am sad to be signing up for my final term before leaving my assignment in Kansas. Kathy has been an AMAZING teacher -- I've gone from knowing near NOTHING about metalwork to designing and crafting brass and silver pieces that strangers have asked to purchase. I could not recommend Kathi's classes more emphatically.
