This place is run by some moms and memaws. Everyone was friendly enough. It's relatively clean inside but the place has some age on it. Everything in here has a little age. The ceiling tiles were sagging and there was an old guy among a group of folks talking about how to make sauce.
The fry on the fish was excellent. The cornbread was probably left over from yesterday. The coleslaw was from KFC, I'm certain. The fried potatoes were too wet to tell if they'd been fried, they were brown so I'm assuming they were at some point. The soup beans tasted like someone dumped cans of pinto beans in a pot and added maybe some chicken broth and water and called it a day. The food came out FAST. I was surprised they didn't make their own tartar sauce, you get a little packet of hienz tartar sauce with your fish.
Now, I get the feeling they make a mean breakfast. But we were here at 2pm. So, that's on us.
We're just passing through on our way home from Bardstown and we are definitely not who their target market is. We try to avoid eating fast food during road trips because places like these are usually either the best thing you've ever had or the worst and you get a good story. Plus, we would rather support small businesses.
Your place was just so-so for us unfortunately. Would I recommend it, probably not. But maybe give them a shot if you're coming through in the morning. read more
