Job Overview: I signed a contract in October 2024 for a job worth roughly $9,000, which was supposed to be completed by Spring 2025. The contractor suggested adding another tree due to safety concerns, but my neighbor was unhelpful regarding the cost of the tree on the property line. I decided not to go ahead with that tree... We had no contract for it anyway. he had NO PROBLEM cashing my check for 3k... Every machine he had was broken at some point in time and sat on my property either in my front yard or in my back yard for extended periods of time. He truck broke, his grinders broke... as a small business owner I had no problem at all giving him grace for these issues as I know equipment is not an easy thing to manage.. Payment Issues: I decided to use the funds he requested for that additional tree (without a contract) toward the original $9,000 job. Unfinished Work: As of today, February 18, 2026, the job remains incomplete. He has failed to: Grind the stumps Cut down the remaining trees he promised to remove Complete any backfilling or reseeding work Poor Communication: Instead of taking responsibility, he told me that I "screwed him over," which is completely unprofessional. Financial Loss: I'm out $2,500 due to this experience. Given the unfulfilled promises and lack of accountability, I strongly advise against using Collier Tree Farms, Treetop Services and stay away from Gordon Young. If you're in the Akron area, I recommend looking elsewhere for your Christmas tree needs-- Conclusion: Save yourself the frustration and financial loss by choosing a more reliable service.
