Everything seems old and outdated, the equipment selection is obscure and insufficient and the bathroom set up is quite weird, not the private rooms that ATF locations usually have. Lastly, there is a bunch of signs with rules that seem unfair for a gym like "please don't kip" on the pull up bar... some people can't do perfect form pull ups (I can but this ain't about me)

This park is really hard to find- I was only able to find it via Google Maps, and even then you…read moreprobably wouldn't know about this place unless you look at the Willamette River Water Trail website. I guess it is supposed to be a boat launch/landing area, along with a nice stretch of beach. There is a bit of dirt lot parking, a porta-potty and an overgrown trail. No potable water, lots of trash strewn about, and I had to kick a smoldering log into the river to prevent a forest fire (thanks Smokey.) Not sure I would trust leaving my vehicle here overnight- some sketchy people were hanging about, not minding their own business (and driving by my car slowly as they left...I took a picture of their plate and car in case I came back to a broken window.) Beer cans, wine bottles, all sorts of detritus about. When Forest Park in Portland is cleaner than your park, you know it's really bad. This could be a really nice park, but I can't recommend coming here unless you're stopping along the river to use the restroom and take a small break. The smell here was unpleasant and I didn't like that I can't walk barefoot on the beach without fearing I would step on glass. It's a sad state of affairs, and I hope this place is given more attention in the future.

I found out about the aquatic center through the In and Out magazine for the city of Woodburn. I…read morewas interested in getting my girls into swimming classes and was thrilled when I applied for a kiwanis scholarship helping us pay for these classes. Upon our first 2 weeks of lessons, the only complaint I had was how disgusting the place was and how the sauna was broken. I decided to continue the next set of classes in september. I figured it wasn't worth a membership, but that since we would only be there for classes, it was ok. Upon starting the second set of classes on September 9th, my 7 year old encountered getting kicked in the face by a young boy in her class and when I attempted to speak with his guardian, he refused to take out his earphones and another mom there, who spoke spanish translated to him that his grandson was hitting my daughter in the face. I was thankful for that mom. Unfortunately the next day, my daughter was attempting to swim in the pool and the older sister of this young man was grabbing her bathing suit and pushing her underwater. I told her to keep her hands to herself. I figured that was that...well I was wrong... The next day she was blocking my daughter from swimming and upon seeing this, I approached her and told her she needed to stop or I would speak with her grandfather, she told me "Go ahead!" She began to follow me around the facility and then she followed us into the locker room. I had enough and told one of the lifeguards there on duty that I was being stalked by some little kid and didn't want to interact with her, thankfully the lifeguard caught her and I also explained everything that had been going on to a male lifeguard, who asked me to point out the little girl and he went on to speak with her grandfather. The next 2 days were bliss, because they weren't there! However on our last day of swim lessons they were there and the young lady threatened my 7 year old "If she didn't want to get hurt, she needed to leave the pool". I informed the lifeguards again and said if this happens anymore I will call the police. Obviously if their parent's actually cared, their children wouldn't be doing this type of sick bullying and gang behavior. If I want my children to learn how to swim I'll go to a city where there aren't degenerate criminal children. We won't ever be back.

Nothing super high tech, but a computer does the math and scores show up on the screen above the lane. The prices are super-reasonable, beer is cold, deep friend snacks are good, rental shoes are clean, a choice of bowling balls for every size human and working automatic lanes (with bumpers, if you want them). Just what we needed for a couple of hours of Saturday afternoon foolery.

The governing board is a bunch of old folks…read morewith lots of time on their hands and nothing to do but nit pick about every little thing one of the residents might be doing. One of them runs around in a golf cart all day trying to find violations of the homeowners association rules. When you move into the place they soak you for $2,000 initiation fee, and the annual dues are around $550, most of which goes to subsidize the golfers, whose numbers are getting fewer and fewer. You're stuck paying it whether you golf or not. Add the state and local property taxes, which average $1500 on up, and it's just not worth living here, which probably explains why house values are going down and many residents have their homes up for sale trying to get out of the place.

People are moving out of here. Wish I could afford to sell my home and move, too, but I can't sell…read moremy house as fewer people want to move in here. New residents are required to pay $2,000 initiation fee, plus about $500 in annual HOA fees, and then add state and county property taxes of $1300 to $1800. It's TOO expensive to live here, and the HOA very picky about what you can and can't do.
