Been coming to this place for about 25 years. In the early years it was called The Lexus Doc and was on Basse Rd. I guess Lexus didn't like that because they changed their name to The Dealer Alternative. Now, of course it's known as Your Mechanic. They are definitely the Lexus/Toyota experts although they have done equally amazing work on Jeeps, Infinity's and Cadillacs for me. Mike and his team have always served me well. They're honest, accommodating and do great work. Plus, they're much cheaper than the dealer (hence the earlier names). Dealer quality work at neighborhood garage prices. I scheduled a diagnostic for my car and was told I needed a fuel pump. The mechanic informed me he would be able to replace it immediately. I booked the return service 36 hours in advance. 18 hours before the appointment, I receive notification that it was cancelled. No explanation. No offer to reschedule. I had a terrible experience with these folks. Their guy Phil, is rude, condescending and unprofessional. In fact, the last time I had my car there a month ago... I ended up going to pick it up and not letting them do the work, due to Phil's erratic behavior. Their front desk person, Monica, even apologized to me because she heard him talking down to me in a rude tone from across their office. That wasn't the first time, this guy is unhinged. Furthermore, today I tried to speak to him about getting the warranty information from my vehicle, which he refused to give me. He told me "they didn't have it ". Funny, they do have it because they actually got paid by my warranty company when I was uninformed and used their service the first time late 2025. I definitely do not recommend this mechanic. Oh, and not to mention, in January Phil told me I needed a new rotors and new brakes all the way around. Turns out that wasn't true, I didn't need new rotors on two of the wheels. I have been going here with my 4 Vehicles. Mike the owner is honest and will tell you the truth. This review is about Phil, Operations Manager. I have had more car trouble in the last three months, my wife's battery needing changing on the Mercedes and Phil quoted me $350 cheaper than the dealership and had the team work and had by the end of day. My son's Ford Escape has had fuel issues and Phil worked with the amazing Jason (mechanic) to fix the issue. Then 2am my daughters Nissan died on the side of the road and when the tow truck comes and says where to, easy, can you send it to Your Mechanic. I call Phil the next day and they tell me they will work on it and let me know asap, which was later that day. This is the team when family/friends ask, do you have a mechanic you go to. Trust and solid communication is how I would define this company. No, I didn't get a discount or anything for this post. I was a long time customer there at your mechanic on bitters. A lot of these reviews are confusing the mobile mechanic service called your mechanic, but this is the original one on bitters that used to be called dealer alternative. Until the last year or so, they've been real good, but they've got a whole slew of brand new mechanics with very little experience. I needed a couple of basic maintenance jobs and it took a total of seven return visits to get no leaks and it never did run the same. Over $2000 and the car never ran the same. The your mechanic on Bitters Road is not the same as it used to be, quality is way down, and the prices are way up. Even a simple oil change is $20 or $30 more than most mechanics would charge. On multiple occasions they have let me know when something is not an issue or urgent to allow me to save money. Need brakes? no quite yet. On other occasions they have even saved me the heartache of security risk. An employee who was working late recommended I lock up my car for an overnight drop off. He even came out and helped maneuver the car instead of just dropping the keys off in the night box. They get to know your car and have a very thorough customer service group. Dealer Alternative! These mechanics specialize in Lexus automobiles- they know their stuff. They have always treated me honestly with their repairs. They come up with good workarounds when there's a problem, and have good sense when it comes to fixing vs repairing something on the car. The Lexus gets around, and these guys keep it running! They perform regular, ongoing maintenance, as well as repairs. They don't really do body work, but have a hookup with a local fender repair place if needed. The waiting room is comfortable, with bottled water and candy, and the staff is always pleasant and explain all the estimates, repairs and invoices carefully and thoroughly. They even have a shuttle that can come pick you up when your repairs are completed! read more

After taking this car into Jiffy Lube for and oil change, the service engine light never turned off. We figured something else must be needed. After making an appointment with Mike, we came in, explained to him we needed. We went to lunch expecting the "you need this and that phone call. Mike called about 20 minutes in and said this "there's nothing wrong with this car. We reset the service light, gave it an inspection, stuck some air in the tires and that's that. They came out and charged $194 to inspect my son's 2001 Camry. said the problem was the water pump, so they scheduled to replace that, the timing belt, thermostat, valve cover gasket. they performed the repairs that took more than a day. It cost $1373. They said the noise it was making was normal and it would go away. I started the car and it. sounded like it was running on dry cylinders with no oil. The original mechanic was unprofessional so they sent another to see what was wrong. They decided to redo everything and include a new oil pump. on the scheduled repair day, there was a no show and after a lot of calls they told me to take it to an independent shop to inspect it for the proper fix. The new shop not only found that the mechanic didn't tighten bolts enough and they now needed to replace the whole cam shaft (a $2100 repair). Your mechanic paid for it so that my car would be back to normal and drivable. After the repairs were complete, the shop told me that the car was stalling. Not funny that that was the original problem and Your Mechanic had misdiagnosed it and damaged my car. We asked to now have the shop fix the original problem and Your Mechanic pay for it. They refused. So after a month, I am out around $1500 and still don't have my car running. We are going after them for a full refund of all money since they did nothing but cost us money and we had the extra expense to get a rental car. YourMechanic made a diagnosis, took 2 full days for repair process and the tech said he did not want to work with them anymore because it was not worth his time. The car sounded terrible when he left and his response was, "The car is old". We drove it 5 miles and it was loud and concerning. We asked for a new tech. The former tech actually texted us and said, "Man, I thought you were cool." and was completely unprofessional. The new tech agreed there was a problem and we scheduled new repair under warranty. They did not show up. 2 days later they said to take it to another shop of our choice. That shop found a loose bolt that damaged the cam shaft while driving. They fixed what YM said was warrantied. The car still has original problem (dying) 1 full month later. New shop found issue at $714 charge. YM refused to pay after we paid them $1567.80 for nothing and no car for 32 days. Had to rent a car for my business trip on top of all of this. Please see video of what we were told was "normal" and ended up causing more damage. read more

I contacted customer service, who refused to send a substitute mechanic for my time slot and informed me that the next available appointment was next Friday. They are unprofessional and I am taking my business to another mobile service who was able to get me in for an appointment on Thursday, which is more like it. I had your mechanic mobile auto repair I guess they have a contract with WrenchDbayour mechanic because that's what came out on my bank statements in San Antonio Tx came and look at my car the mechanic took my coolant from my car I saw him put it in his trunk when he was done and all he did is put very little in reservoir and he took a head light off never removed motor covers to look at engine i don't want this mechanic coming to my home again I didn't know you could see a very tiny leak on my radiator and water pump through the hole where he removed my head light he spent maybe 15 minutes on my car and was able to diagnosed all these thing in my car I worked at an chief auto parts store for over 15 and know things about cars I'm tired off being taken by these businesses taking advantage of older folks we are not stupid we're just older I didn't see him use a diagnostic tool on my car he just looked like he was killing time walking back and forth around my car thieves Don't use ( your mechanic mobile mechanic ) they have a contract with your mechanic and go by this company WrenchDbay mechanic in San Antonio Tx on Bitters rd I drive a mini and the quote was from this mechanic $3000 I will be calling police dept to file a theft report I'm tired of these companies taking advantage of old people we are just old but not stupid DO NOT USE THEM (thieves) read more

I used to get repairs done for my car and my wife's car here for past few years. I will admit that their prices are on the higher side but used to get quality service. My recent experience changed my opinion on this place completely. In 2017 they fixed my car's power steering pump hose by replacing it. Again in 2018 I started noticing the same symptoms that my car makes creeky sound while turning. I took it to them and they said it is another hose leaking and also the power steering pump needs to be replaced, on top of that they said that they need to fix my axles due to the leakage from bootkit I believe. They quoted me close to $1800 for all the work. Since my car being old I told them I don't want to do all those repairs and I would rather replace the car with a new one. fast forward one day... I took my car to another mechanic shop up on my friends recommendation to S&G automative on 1604 and lock-hill selma. They fork lifted my car and showed me what is exactly wrong with my car, they showed me that the power steering clamp for the hose "your mechanic" replaced is loose and all they need to do is tighten that clamp to fix the leak. They replaced my CV joint boot kit for $650 (labor and parts included). So I saved close to 1200 dollars by going else where. Remember you should always "Trust but verify". I am not going to go back to your mechanic any more, they lost my family's business. When I told them that I decided not to fix the car there, I can see the person got upset and charged me $115 for diagnosis (which I did not mind since no body's time is free but would have been nice if they told me about that charge before). Now my car is running great with out any problems. I highly recommend S&G automotive to any one looking for a transparent and fair priced auto repair shop. Sam and Gio at S&G have been working together for 19 years and I surprised to see people from Fredericksburg etc. to get their repairs done. read more

YOU BETTER CALL "YOUR MECHANIC"! Several shops inspected my vehicle. It was probably the battery had a dead cell, or blower fan on radiator. No one took the time to actual understand the problem. Homus determined and fixed the problem; first time. The internal fan blower would not cut off. It caused my battery to die. Simple fix huh? He made it seem that way. Don't use this company. They tried to reschedule my appointment a half hour after the scheduled time. Their company policy is that if a customer reschedules within a 48 hour window, you can be fined but they can cancel or reschedule at their whim. I was left standing out by my vehicle for over 3.5 hours as I insisted with their dispatch not to reschedule the appointment and send a mechanic to do the work as promised. This company will not get my return patronage. They do not hold themselves to the same standard as they hold their customers. I even took it up with Jennifer, a customer service supervisor the next day and she told me bold faced that they are not responsible and will not offer any compensation to me for making wait on the street for over 3.5 hours.
