I would NOT suggest this store to got to, specifically because of their horrible customer service. Me and my friend went here to buy something, and when we found out they didn't have it, we kept browsing incase there was anything of interest. We were not even here for 10 minutes when we were kicked out because touching our pockets automatically means we stole something. When I tried to explain we did not steal anything and that i was pulling out my phone from my pocket, they wouldn't let us speak and kicked us out without letting me finish. We were not doing anything suspicious and they were incredibly rude the entire time. I was simply trying to answer a text from my mother and I suppose having two minors there for around 4 minutes is suspicious. So suspicious that we should have been kicked out. 0/10. I was searching for a last minute balloon bouquet and was happy I found this place! They have a large selection of Mylar and traditional balloons. For just over $20 I was able to get 1 Mylar and 6 regular latex (added gel for longer lasting) to make a great bouquet. And they made it in 5-10 min while I waited. While waiting I browsed the store - they seemed to have a good selection, better than most and lots of party supplies. Location is very close to the Broadway City hall skytrain station. read more

I regularly go to the No Frills grocery store right beside this dollar store and have been meaning to stop in to check out the deals but never have been able to due to the difficulty in finding a parking spot on the street nearby. Between the bus stops and the restricted parking hours, it's not easy parking around here! Today I finally got a spot in front of a meter on Broadway near the store - and each dime I fed the meter bought me 2 minutes! WOW. So already, I'm not thrilled about the parking situation here. The store itself is way larger than it appears from the exterior, as it extends deep towards 12th on the south side, and the store interior opens up to the west, too, in a corner. It is big. And well laid-out, too, with aisles and aisles devoted to various departments (i.e., kitchen, bathroom, seasonal, cards, toys and games, school and craft supplies, etc). The prices are crazy low, too. I kept thinking to myself, one would have to be a fool to shop elsewhere for supplies for kids' parties or school craft projects, for real. And they had a lot of really nice Vancouver souvenirs, too - stuff I've seen elsewhere for 2 to 4 times the price. The store was neat and they had a great selection of merchandise in every department. Oddly enough, though, I came here to get one specific seasonal item and, despite the gazillion holiday merchandise, they did not have what I was looking for. Other than the parking situation, though, my main gripe has to do with the aloof (cold) attitude of the check-out gals. They weren't outright rude but they sure lacked any warmth. I have a hard time dealing with store folks who don't take eye contact or make any small talk (not even a "thank you"). Robotic and impersonal and cold. I'm skeptical too about the store's return policy. And based on others' poor reviews, I'd be hesitant to buy anything here other than stationery or craft supplies. read more

Hello, I just experienced the worse customer service from the store manager at your Broadway and Yukon location. I purchased a USB phone charging cable that did not work and brought it back for a refund. The store has a 7-day exchange policy which I was already aware of, but I brought the item in any way 11 days later. I wanted a full refund, and I will explain why. The clerk at the counter was polite and simply explained to me the store policy. I told her that I was dissatisfied with the product (that didn't work), and I come here often enough to get a break. She told me she could not help me, and I ask to see a manager. I told the manager the store should be held accountable for selling products that simply do not work, regardless of the stores policy. It is bad for the environment, it is bad for the economy, and it is bad business. The store manager then proceeded to yell at me about how the store takes no responsibility for the products they sell, and it is on the onus of manufacturer to produce product that work. This attitude does not make any sense at all. It shocks me that this store management could care less whether the goods they sell do what they are supposed to do. Vendors are legally held accountable for product they sell, and it doesn't matter if it is a Dollar Store. For example: * Manufacturer A makes car with defective brakes * Vender knowingly sells car with defective brakes * Customer buys car and dies in car crash Both the manufacturer and Vender will be held liable. This is extreme example, but the same ethical laws still apply to everyday items. The environment and economy suffer when products are insufficient. The store manager should have recognized the product they are selling doesn't work and took it off the shelves. She should have recognized I am a regular customer and refunded me the measly $5.00., but she was "penny wise and dollar stupid". Now I will never set foot in that store again. I purchased the same product (different brand) for less at a different dollar store and it works great. I have been a patron of this Dollar store for about 9 years, and I usually frequent the store at least twice a month for odds and ends. I am a known regular customer who would have continued to be a patron of the store if I wasn't treated so poorly. read more

I think they have new owners because the man who claimed he was the owner and served me was NASTY when I asked him if some new iphone6 cables he was selling would stand up... I have almost a dozen of them I bought from this store that don't work after a couple of weeks. The "owner" asked me not to shop there any more. I think it's reasonable for a consumer to expect the merchandise they buy to have a reasonable life expectancy. The selection at the Joyce Road store is better anyways. read more

EXTREMELY RUDE!!!!! NO RESPECT AT ALL. I called to make a large order of balloons. When I called, I started with "Hi, how are you?" and the lady just said, "What do you want?" in a very harsh tone. I proceeded and let that go, but when I asked her if she had pink heart balloons, she continued to give a hard time. Good location, both the #9 and #99 buses are close buy. As far as price, it's not the best where dollar stores are concerned. The staff always appear to be more preoccupied with other things rather than taking your money and answering general questions. read more

I went in to buy a card, I'm confused, don't get why packaged cards are $1, non packaged $2 and neither of the cards are better quality than the other! Owner is very poor with customer service and complaints. Called headquarters to complain/advise them about the situation, all I received was that him and the owner are good friends, and he's a great person. As a business, dealing with complaints you should not be biased. When I voiced that he was being biased, I got told I was being rude and does not want to talk to me. This is a business, professional relationships amongst coworkers/staff needs to be in place. I will not tolerate business that do not run by the rules of the law. read more

BUYER BEWARE!! DO NOT buy helium balloons from this place. I found it strange when I came in to purchase the big number balloons and chose my colors etc and everything and brought them to the counter. I asked for them to be blown up while I did the rest of my shopping in the store but when I got to the counter she hadn't done them yet. Then she says you have to pay for them first. Ok fair enough. I pay. Which btw they are not cheap by any means! I go shop around a little more while she puts helium in them. I come back to get them when she's done and am shocked at what they look like. They are all wrinkled and warped and nothing like what they are supposed to be. One in particular was really bad. I accepted all the rest but one of them I asked for a new one. That's when the NASTY manager (Korean lady?) came out screaming at me! I was shocked. I had just spent $50 on balloons and you couldn't even redo one. All of them were defective but that one especially. Now I know the reason why they make people pre pay because this has obviously happened before. So buyer beware. DO NOT buy any of their helium balloons because after you have paid you are stuck with deflated defective balloons and you'll also get yelled at. She screamed don't shop here anymore. I tried to shop here with my dog and was told in a shrill, rude voice that dogs are not allowed. I pointed out that he is a very well-behaved, non-allergenic cancer therapy dog. The woman behind the counter snapped back that he could stay if I carried him. She wanted me to CARRY my 45-pound dog! When I said I would be taking my business elsewhere, she said that would be just fine. So I'm giving this one-star review - not because of the "no dogs" policy, but because of her rudeness and unprofessional attitude. I've always liked this $$ store and supported them throughout the years but lately the Customer Service is really bad. I spoke with the owner mgr. about returning something for a store credit and he was very rude and because I was one day past the 7 day return policy, he would not do anything. It wasn't a lot of money but it was the principal. I will no longer support this dollar store. Go to the dollar store on the second floor at City Square. I couldn't find what I was looking for at the Dollar Tree inside the station, however, I found it here. Here is the problem...the item for a simple notebook was $6!. I knew that for a store called "Dollar store with more" that it wasn't going to be a true dollar store, however, get your head out of your a$$ $6 for a notebook really? I find a few things stupidly priced, however, most were reasonable within the $1 - $3 mark. I ended up spending 90 minutes in the dollar store buying card and scrap booking material.
