I'm sharing my experience in the hope it helps others make informed decisions…read more I initially had a positive experience at Boulder Regenerative Orthopedics. The first physician I worked with, Dr. Cummings, recommended starting conservatively with PRP and shockwave therapy. That treatment appeared to be effective--particularly in reducing tightness and scar tissue in my IT band. After that physician left the practice, my care transitioned to the primary doctor/owner, Dr. Mazzola. At that point, I was strongly encouraged to pursue stem cell therapy, which was presented as highly effective--particularly for healing tears and restoring function. Based on those discussions, I moved forward with the procedure, with the understanding that it could significantly improve my condition. Unfortunately, my experience did not match those expectations. One year later, after stem cell therapy, following the post-treatment protocol, daily PT, and deep tissue massage, follow-up imaging has shown no improvement, and in some respects, my condition appears to have worsened. In addition, the treatment was very costly and not covered by insurance, making the lack of results especially difficult. I want to be clear that regenerative medicine is a developing field, and outcomes may vary. However, I believe it's important for patients to have a balanced understanding of the limitations, uncertainty, and variability of stem cell treatments, particularly given the financial investment involved. If you are considering this route, I would strongly encourage: Seeking multiple medical opinions Asking for evidence specific to your condition Carefully weighing expected outcomes against cost There may be value in some of the more conservative therapies offered, based on my earlier experience. But I would urge caution and thorough due diligence before proceeding with more advanced and expensive interventions.

Dr. Mazzola is incredible. He's the guy to see for any orthopedic injury. He's a miracle worker.read more

Needless to say, after 3 weeks in pain and not running, that Berlin marathon was seriously stressing me out. I immediately felt comfortable with Heather, she's an experienced runner and understands not just the the mechanics of injuries, she knows how our brain can go little crazy when we don't run, especially before a big race. During the first visit, she took the time to listen and learn about my running style and habits, she had me run on a treadmill, do a few moves to get an idea of the seriousness of that knee injury and to my relief told me it was nothing bad. Yes, I was hurting, but I could run, actually I should run. During that first session (and the two ones that followed), she deeply massaged my knee, needled it and used electrical stimulation. Berlin was only 3 weeks away so she also told me what I should be doing as much running as possible without risking to get things worse, giving exact numbers, no more than 10 miles for the first longish run after that extended rest. The following morning I was back running a bit, and then quickly increasing the mileage. She also emailed me clear guidelines including videos so that I could do some stretches correctly. I saw her a total of 3 times and was ready to run Berlin, certainly not my fastest considering the lack of training, but I knew I could do it, and most importantly, I felt comfortable going into the race worry free. I have never been with Michael, the other PT at Red Hammer, but friends told me he's also great. What I had heard and I have experienced is that their goal is to get you back on you feet as quickly as possible (assuming it's feasible, depending on the issue). Each appointment is very efficient, they take time to listen, evaluate the progress and won't hesitate to do needling, cupping, manipulation and E-stim if needed. I highly recommend Red Hammer and I only wish I had not waited 3 weeks to go see them!
