I honestly loved coming out with my spouse and creating two holiday boards for our home. We had great instructions all the way through the process. All the while laughing and joking with encouragement from our instructor. BYOB if you desire to turn it into a cocktail and paint party. I highly recommend this location snuggled in a shopping plaza off of trickium and 2323 shallowford road, Marietta. We had a great date nite with wonderful creative art projects for our home.. Check out their Facebook page and get your crew together and come get creative. You'll be so glad you did. Highly recommend this location!!!

First of all this place looks fantastic! They have thought of everything and the space is perfect!…read moreThey do workshops, private events but we had our oldest's birthday party. WOW! We were so impressed! The vibe is fun and they had kid friendly music but it wasn't loud or crazy like most party places. This is the PERFECT spot for a birthday! You pick projects ahead of time so everyone knows what they're doing and there's no fussing with the kiddos. They are great about working with you to bring cake, snacks or whatever. Chelsea and Lillian were incredible! Chelsea was our instructor and she not only explained everything perfectly she jumped in to help! We were worried about trying to do our projects and try to help the kids but it was a team effort and everyone left happy. It was a little hard for the younger kids age 5 I would recommend them working with a parent but the older kids 7-8 could do most things on their own. I think kids 10 and older would really love this place! We were also really impressed by everything that everyone made all ages! The kids can't wait to go back but even my husband said he'd love to go back for a date night or send me back for a Mom's night out!

For being a place for creative oulets, you'd think they'd pick a more creative name than....The Art…read morePlace. But honestly I don't blame them. I think this place has been around since forever, right behind the Mountain View Library. They offer painting, sketching, clay, theatre, and music classes; I tend to find that it's more theatrics than actual drawing classes offered. I've stayed away from acting and music, but they have productions and dinner&shows every season for the public to go to, at $5-$15 per show. The classes are great- but it really depends on your class, really. I've only taken painting, portraiture, and clay, and clay was the worst of them all. Enjoyable? Yes. Would I do it again? No. I don't even remember the instructor's name. My only quip is that for each class, the fees never seem to end. Registration (late or early), actual class fees, baking fees, and oh, the -supplies-! The supplies list never ends, I swear. For pencil portraiture, I thought you bring a pencil and eraser, and a pad. False, it's like 20 different types of pencils, graphite, special erasers left and right, specially bound pads, tissue paper, paper stubs, special ink pens and tips, and oh my god, these things cost a fortune! I just want to draw! Ahem, anyway, the painting guy was ok, but the star of the show is Kip Rogers- after all these years (it's been like 10), I still remember how well he taught his classes and I want to go back, even if this place is about a solid 45 minute drive from where I live now. His class is 95 for first timers and 70 for returners. At that price, it's a freaking steal! (Well, at least for that class....) The Art Place is a special place to me- back when I still drew all over the place, I had been able to be part of some of the shows there, and I appreciated that. You could always walk in and see art from the locals. After all these years, the many of the artists teaching there are still there. Now on to convincing the boyfriend to take these classes with me....

The stencils and stamps the did have left were very old and didn't work. Also, the employees just seem really absent minded and not knowledgeable or interested. And whatever you do don't forget to take a picture of your art work before you go. If you don't, they will have no way to figure out if it's finished. They won't call to tell you it is finished. And if you don't go get it within 30 days it will be destroyed. Their system is very archaic and dysfunctional. They don't tell you that you have to take a picture, you're somehow just supposed to know this. Also, expect to spend at least $75-$100, which I think is very over priced. Just go somewhere else instead.

There are great inspiration pieces all around the shop and they usually have seasonal items out. You paint your item, they fire it for you, and you come back in a few days to pick it up. I believe you can also use their clay and make your own items as well! For the pre-made ceramics you paint, you pay one cost for the items and that includes the paint and firing. If you don't finish a piece in one sitting, you can bubble wrap it, take it home, and bring it back to finish another day! Feel free to bring your own food and drink!
