Who doesn't love a troll hunt? Thomas Dambo creates these trolls around the world using recycled materials and they all have a bird house (or more) incorporated into the structure. It's a good way to get the family out for a walk in the woods, take some photos, bring a picnic and share some time with this zen troll enjoying pond views from the trees. Parking, and the road in, are dirt and a bit rutted so bring the truck, not the sports car. read more
**November 2025: Sunday Afternoon Visit** Young Boulder was my last Rhode Island troll on my list and I had hoped that I saved the best for last. What I love about this Dambo troll is that the parking is very close to the troll itself; however, he's still hidden in the woods but not so far in that I'd be out of breath. He's perched u on a big boulder overlooking the beautiful water. There were quite a few families and couples checking him out on my visit, but everyone was very polite when we all took photos. This troll has a cool earning and there are various angles you can take photos of this troll. FYI there is a little area where you can have a picnic however there are no public restrooms. There is a pizzaria called Little Country Pizza just down the road that has bomb pizza and their self serve water is well water if case you were hungry or needed a bathroom break! read more

In 2024, artist Thomas Dambo brought two large troll sculptures made of recycled materials to Ninigret Park in Charlestown named Erik Rock and Greta Granite. The popularity of these trolls inspired the artist to bring three more to RI in August 2025. "Young Boulder" resides at Acadia Management Area on the Exeter/Richmond line. The North Kingstown sculpture, known as "Iver Mudslider", is located at Ryan Park. The East Providence sculpture, called "Mrs. Skipper" resides just off the East Bay Bike Path near the Kettle Point development. I put "Browning Mill Pond Lower Parking Lot" in my GPS and it led me to a parking lot with plenty of spots. From there, I followed a sign indicating which way the troll was. I followed the loop trail and passed over two foot bridges to arrive at the troll. Young Boulder was astounding. read more
Another one of Mr. Dambo's trolls. Probably .2 of a mile off the parking lot, he is a little bit of a walk to get to and the path gets a little tight towards the end. But he is definitely worth visiting. You will find him overlooking the pond and keeping watch. And if you're lucky maybe a couple birds birds visiting his birds nest. read more
