The last time we did a review for YAA, my daughter was 7 and they were located in the larger location. She is now 16 and she has had a relationship with YAA from the first time she attended a bithday party at 3 to this summer when she was a volunteer for summer camp, specialty camp. She has attended Saturday digital camps, specialty camp (until she aged out) and full time camp. We have watched the museum struggle during Covid when they were forced to find a new location. Under the leadership of their new CEO, we have witnessed such resilience. My daughter has participated in 3 recycling fashion shows, participated in their festival of the arts (where kids can share & sell their art), and so far for her high school career she has been a volunteer for summer camp. Through her participation in the Recycling Fashion Show she has been able to be part of an exhibition at Art Serve - sharing the display space with adult artists. She was able to paint a guitar to be auctioned for a large fundraiser for the Ann Storck center and she has been able to utilize 2 scholarships through the Florida Fashion Institue to enhance her career aspirations. My daughter has met amazing mentors and has had a positive experience at Young at Art. She has seen the museum grow and continue to serve to community even with facing challenges. Young at Art has meant a lot to our family. Yes, they look smaller but what they have provided to the community and our family is HUGE! read more

What a wonderful museum for children to explore, create, and learn! Young At Art is an immersive, hands-on museum with a variety of interactive exhibits, art activities, and creative play spaces that encourage learning through imagination and exploration. The museum is reasonably priced and a great size. While it's not huge, there's plenty to keep children engaged. We've been visiting every two to three months for the past two years, and it's been fun seeing some of the recent upgrades they've made. The space is open and thoughtfully divided into different themed areas. Kids can enjoy a slide, a music and movement section, a grocery store and kitchen play area, a large swing, a few simple video games, painting stations, and several daily craft activities. They've also recently added a pretend garden where children can "plant" flowers, which is such a cute interactive feature. There are playful activities scattered throughout the museum, so there's always something new to discover. Everything is designed to encourage creativity, hands-on learning, and imaginative play. My four-year-old nephew absolutely loves coming here, and we've been bringing him since he was two years old. It's one of our favorite local outings. One thing I also appreciate is that it never feels overly crowded, although we usually visit during the week. The staff are consistently friendly and welcoming, and they're especially helpful in the craft areas, where they're always encouraging and willing to assist the kids with their projects. This was one of the most disappointing experiences we've ever had with a summer camp. Our 7-year-old son came home and told us that he felt he was being treated differently by one of the teachers, Tracy. As parents, we take our child's feelings seriously. A 7-year-old has no reason to invent a story like this, so we met with the camp to better understand what had happened. During the meeting, a woman who introduced herself as the principal called Tracy to join us. Instead of showing concern or trying to understand our son's experience, Tracy casually pulled up a chair, leaned back, and rolled her eyes while we were discussing a very serious matter involving a child. Her attitude alone was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I respectfully requested that we review the security camera footage from the previous day so everyone could understand what actually happened before reaching any conclusions. Instead of looking into the situation, the principal simply waved her hand and said that if we were unhappy, they would refund our tuition. There was no attempt to investigate, no willingness to hear both sides, and no effort to have an open conversation between the student and the teacher responsible for the group. Whether discrimination actually occurred or not, the way this complaint was handled showed a complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and concern for a child's well-being. As a parent, that was deeply disappointing. There was another issue that reflected poor organization. The camp is located inside Broward Mall and advertises an opening time of 8:45 AM. However, when we arrived, the mall entrances were still closed. There were five to seven other families wandering around with their children, all trying to figure out how to get inside. There were no signs, no instructions, and no communication telling parents which entrance to use before the mall officially opens. Overall, we found the leadership and management to be extremely disappointing. A summer camp should provide children with a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment while also treating parents' concerns seriously. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. As an Asian family, we left feeling that our concerns were not taken seriously. While I cannot speak to anyone else's experience, ours left us with the genuine feeling that our son was not treated fairly. Every child, regardless of race or background, deserves to be treated with equal respect and dignity. I hope the camp takes this feedback seriously and makes meaningful improvements in how it communicates with families and responds to concerns involving children. read more

There was a special for educators and their family to go free. So, as a teacher, I had to take advantage of it while on maternity leave and check out the space for potential field trip. They gave a welcome goodie bag with information, which was cute. It's a small space for kids to explore, create, and learn. The interactive exhibits and hands-on art stations can keep kids engaged while making the experience fun and educational. A spot that inspires creativity. It is definitely geared towards older, school aged kids. I had my 8 month old with me and their wasn't much for him to do. It probably would be good for lower elementary students. They had painting stations, and a lot of recycled materials to make puppets. Admission can be pricey but its worth checking out on a hot or rainy day. There is not a lot to do here for a 4 year old. The offered activities don't change much although I will say there were some changes for the better since the last time we were there-they have a bigger play area as they removed the "dome" that used to be in the middle of the space. Several of the machines/arcade type things they have are not very responsive to touch and don't work well. The staff are always very nice. read more

This place is so underwhelming It's old and needs to be updated. They have no bathrooms except for staff. This is a kids place! Things are not so clean. The art projects are nothing special. It's more of a preschool atmosphere. Play kitchen, slides dirty play fruit. It's for young children and there is an open front where kids can just leave. Unsafe. It's a big disappointment if you were a regular at the original museum off of 595 where the library is now. Really sad it's so small now. Myself and my kids ages (13/8/6/4) were all shocked at how different it is. The staff is amazing. If you don't have tiny kids don't waste your money. Came today with my son and his classmates for the first time. We had been at their previous location in davie which was big and had a lot of activity and a big library. This location is inside the Broward mall. It was pretty small, but very cute. Definitely I recommend it for family with small elementary children. However I do not recommend it for field trip or big groups with kids. They have no bathroom inside and not much to do in there. Their private room for extra activity is literally in the other side of the mall. Definitely no ideal for big groups to walk from one side of the mall to the other side. The additional activity left a lot to desire. They seemed stingy with the clay and seemed rushed. Idk if I would come back. read more

Came here on a Saturday for my niece's birthday party. Her parents had rented a party room for two hours along with catered food and it was held in the Greenscapes Room. We must've had about 40 people in our party including kids and babies. Two employees were there with us to assist our party at all times and stayed until the end of the two hours. Prior to finding the GreenScapes Room, I had stumbled into some other kid's birthday party that was happening at the same time. That's because this Young at Art facility is simply gynormous. Large open spaces as well as smaller rooms all filled with interactive/educational tools, games, and activities for kids of all ages. It's a nice facility. If I had kids, I would bring them here too. A one-time visit costs $14 and just $12 if you live in Broward. read more

I visited the relocated Young At Art located in Westfield mall and my heart is so broken to see that it's about 1/16th the size of its former location when it was located by State Road 84. Due to Covid, they have downsized its space dramatically. All employees are super nice, and the place is as clean as you can get considering you have young kids playing everywhere and grabbing every moving item. I'm just so sad that beautiful large space is now permanently closed. Now when I have a reason to go, it's no longer there. This space is nice, but activities are much more limited. read more

How nice of Young At Art to give Elites some free tickets to their 30th Anniversary Event! We were so happy to win them! It isn't often I get to bring a guest. Thank you Sara and Blue for making this possible and for passing on the tickets to my husband and I. Although we are not big drinkers, we managed to taste quite a few samples from all the generous vendors while enjoying the live music. There were more beer and alcohol vendors than food which we also sampled. Our favorite food vendor was Ferris Grill. They had a huge assortment of interesting and tasty Greek items. They are located at 4300 N Federal in Ft Lauderdale. One With Life Organic Tequila was a great display, nice people and a delicious mixed alcoholic beverage sample. The Beer Vendor we liked was Mack House Brew Pub.Their beer was superb! It's always a pleasure seeing all the art and interesting exhibits. We enjoyed visiting Young at Art. It's for children and it's family friendly. We went there w our nephews and a friend; they all enjoyed their time there. They did everything from water painting, playing games at the little arcade section (those games are fun even for adults lol), we took photos and they enjoyed themselves. They've got books, indoor slides and a small section for toddlers and babies as well as some stuff for older children. It's super affordable too! Review is aimed at parents of autistic children (and adults like myself that wanted to go somewhere that is ""autistic friendly"" ) My autistic friend and I were overstimulated, had to leave this place multiple times and come back to be able to enjoy the activities. Online it is advertised as being autistic friendly WHICH IT IS NOT. For a museum to be actually accommodating, it's not simple providing stim (fidget) toys although that can help and so can the great assistance of the staff. There needs to be actual space larger than one huge room. There needs to be separate rooms, and a quiet room that blocks out the noise to actually be able to stay sane. Especially if it's a museum where other children are going to be screaming. I can't imagine the poor autistic children dealing with the instruments and loud yelling without noise canceling headphones to blast music for some sanity. I will say the art is beautiful in the back of the room as well as the front. I just wish I knew what I was getting into, and absolutely hate how it was advertised as something that it is not. If I knew this place was not accommodating I would have come alone with blaring music the whole time not brought along someone else with higher needs than me to have a meltdown. Please, parents of autistic adults take your child somewhere else or make sure they have music shutting out the noise at least. read more

I attended the Yelp Beerfest hosted by Blue yesterday and had such a good time. I have never been to the Young at Art Museum and I was amazed by how big and spacious this place is. The art work is cool. I loved the neon black room. The event was a huge success. Lots of vendors, lots of guests, and best of all great food and beer. It was nice kicking it with other helpers and hope to attend a few more of these events. This happened to be my second event and it wont be my last. read more

This is the new YAA museum that's in the broward mall. It's night and day from what it was. More like an open play space with some arts tables. Entrance should be better secured bc it's easy for kids to run out as witnessed today and it's truly not a mall you want your kid lost or running loose in. Mall itself is a bit 50/50 so may detract many prospective visitors and donors. It's a shame what happened to the original YAA museum. Not sure we'll return. read more

I attended a fashion show entitled 14th annual Recycled Fashion Show Artists Restyled at Young At Art Museum. I went as a +1 on my wife, Diane's tickets that she won through Yelp. The party was quite wonderful. Many food vendors were located in one large room. My personal favorite was the Cuban style Macaroni and cheese provided by I Heart Mac & Cheese. I also loved the Penne and Meatballs at Doris' Italian Market and Bakery. For dessert, I had the Strawberry Shortcake from Jason's Deli--simply fabulous!!! The open bars from Bar Barcelo' were great! I had Rum Punch and a Mojito-- both fabulous! Unfortunately, the hosts only provided a couple of well hidden recycle bins for the use of the crowd. Being that recycling was the theme of the event, this was a major mistake. The fashion show was clearly the highlight of the event! Teenage models and designers were so incredibly creative and talented. They illustrated how recyclable materials can be used to create wonderful, beautiful fashions. The show itself was a work of art. Well paced and very professional. I enjoyed it immensely!! These young people have fabulous futures ahead of them, creating such incredible outfits, from an idea to a finished masterpiece! Good Luck to everyone involved!! I have actually wanted to attend an event here for quite sometime, as I am on a email listserv for weekend children activities in my area. When Yelp had the opportunity for some elite members to win free admission tickets to last nights "The Mother of All Baby Shower (MOABS)", I jumped at the chance. I gave birth about a month ago, so what better outing for me and Hubby than an event for new and expecting parents. As I have 3 kids now, the event is adult only, so no walking kids allowed in the event at all. But I appreciated that they do allow small kids as long as they are in a carrier on mom or dad. No strollers or car seats. This brought me peace of mind since I am not ready to leave my newborn with anyone yet. Luckily, I have great friends with kids who were able to watch my older 2 while we went out. The event was packed with different baby item and food vendors. We got a demo on a sleek baby carrier, some chicken tenders from PDQ, some chicken, black rice, and kale from Bolay, a yummy cheeseburger from Shake Shack, etc. My Hubby ran into an old coworker buddy who now works at Shipt. We even ran into his friend and their wife who is expecting their first child soon. It was a great night out and I definitely plan to revisit the museum with all of my kids! read more

I have been here on several occasions for Yelp events, but my very first time was with my son Daniel when he was a child (he is 17 now) We had such a great tine. That visit is one of my fondest memories with him. We went through all the different areas, coloring, making things, exploring the museum and overall being silly. I still have all the works of art we made that day. This is not just a museum where is look and don't touch. This is such an interactive place. A lot to see, to touch. Children are definitely first and foremost here. It is geared for kids to use their imagination and ingenuity. Truly fun and remarkable. They also do adult events like their fashion show and other events. Tonight I attended a fundraiser, there was a lot of food and drinks. And a ton of amazing packages for auction (crossing my fingers I won what I bid on) it was such an amazing event. Very organized. This is a great place for children as well as grown ups. This is such an awesome place! I had a chance to attend the Young at Art Tastemakers event on 5/20/17 at the museum. I don't have kids and I'm not originally from South Florida, so I was not familiar with this spot. I've been to quite a few museums, but I think this was my first visit to an art museum specifically for children. I realize how important it is to incorporate art and cultural experiences in to the life of kids while they are young. I can see that this museum would be very popular with local children and a great place for class trips. Huge thanks to Blue & Yelp for giving us the opportunity to attend this great event. The Yelp community here always has the BEST events! This is such a cool museum and I loved all of the special decor that they put out for this soiree. The interactive live art experiences were fun too! What a fun event to attend, there were so many amazing food choices! We tried the sushi, steak with potatoes and cannoli, talk about amazing! We didn't eat everything that was there, but it was neat to look at all of the beautiful presentations of food. The desserts looked amazing, especially the cookie and ice cream sandwiches. I was also impressed by the tiny pies/tarts that one of the food stations was offering. We just moved here from California last summer, so I'm not familiar with some of the Florida brews. The beers from this state were just delicious and I can't wait to go pick some of them up at the liquor store in the near future. I recommend checking out Funky Buddha Brewery, that was my favorite beer from the evening and super cool that it's local. We loved the photo booths that this event had, we had some really nice high quality pics to take home as souvenirs of our fun night out! read more

I actually used to volunteer at Young At Art Museum a lot in their old location and I only volunteered for a little bit in their current location. There's always something to do in the museum! All their exhibits are so hands on that it involves you in the art. The new location is way bigger and has a beautiful courtyard. This museum is great for all ages! The Young at Art Museum Tastemakers event was absolutely wonderful! My husband and I really enjoyed the whole experience. Neither he nor I had ever been to Young at Art Museum before so it was an extra special treat to attend this event. Therefore a huge thank you is in order to Blue, YelpBPB and Young at Art Museum for allowing us to attend this special charity event for at risk youth and their families. The museum is a stand alone building and thus has its own parking lot so parking was a breeze. We walked up to the entrance and there were two registrations tables. The registration process was cheerful and efficient. They provided you with a program & a tall shot glass with the event logo. The program had all the participating restaurants, breweries, etc., sponsors including the silent auction sponsors, the artist and a photo of the artist's art that's displayed in the museum. There was music pumping as we walked in & veered towards the line for the TapSnap photo booth area. They had some fun props to use for your photo, a big screen to view your pic & select your background. They print your photo but also gave you the option to email it to yourself for future use. Super cool! They also had another booth set up in a different area with a permanent background. We walked around the atrium area and had some nice bites (Whole Foods, KRAVE jerky, BJ's Brewhouse) & brews (Funky Buddha & Holy Mackeral) to start the evening. I found a new favorite beer by Holy Mackerel named Cafe Cubano. No surprise here really as I consider myself the queen of iced lattes or aka iced cafe con leche :) We then ventured inside to find many more yummy bites and bar/cocktail areas (with top shelf liquor). We tasted some great cannoli from Mimi's Ravioli to delicious & unique pops from Vintage Pops. The Oak & Cane rum to the Collingwood Canadian whisky. The list & variety goes on & on. It was all delicious & on point! The silent auction wow what a great selection & number of items! I mean nothing shabby about any of them. They had a variety of starting bids to accommodate everyone and all items had totally reasonable & worthy starting bids. The art, ahh the art, it was beautiful & interesting. From the installation pieces to the live art performances it was all a visual feast for the eyes. It was really a fun time with all the art, drinks, food & music. Everyone from attendees, to those there representing their culinary delights, to the event staff, everyone was cheerful, positive and happy. It was also nice to bump into to some fellow Yelpers and have a good laugh or two. Great vibes all around that evening :) Young at Art Museum is a great art museum for all ages and this is a top notch fantastic event. Having been to many different types of events in the past this event was well planned, laid out and executed. My husband and I already discussed putting this event on the calendar for next year. read more

I've been a fan of Young At Art Museum for a long time. I've been to several great events there. It's a fun place for both children and adults. There's always something interesting to do. I love to peek in the different rooms to see what's new. This past Saturday night Clyde and I went to their 30th Anniversary celebration. Clyde won tickets and I was his plus one. Thank you Yelp. As soon as we walked in we were offered beer and an egg roll. We took the delicious egg rolls and Clyde got the beer. If you like beer this was the place to be. So many local breweries offering different craft beers. If you didn't want beer there was plenty of other drinks. The watermelon cocktails were very popular. There was an open bar in the big room serving rum, tequila, vodka, whisky, and more. I enjoyed rum and coke, simple and refreshing. The bar was very busy but lines were short thanks to the terrific bartender. The was a variety of food set up. We got Mexican empanadas, Greek, ramen soups, vegan stew, cake, cookies, and more. My favorite was the delicious Greek food provided by Ferdos Grill. We listened to great music all evening. At 9 o'clock singer Kendra Morris came on. She entertained us with her popular songs. She was sensational. She had the audience dancing. Drinks, food, entertainment, a silent auction, great art work, and lots more to see and do. It was great fun. read more

Young at Art is a unique place well suited for younger kids especially toddler and elementary age kids. It is a highly interactive children's museum that promotes art and shares space with Broward County library. They have a large section called Wonderscapes devoted to children 5 and under. My kids can play in this area for hours. There is a small outdoor playground, a large teacup with slide inside, water tables with plastic boats, puppet play area, train sets, an area for art projects, a kids kitchen with play food and endless kids activities. Some rooms contain exhibits that change every few months. We are anxiously awaiting the opening of Artcade. There is an exhibit that teaches kids about recycling and kids can make art out of recycled materials. A one time visit can cost $14 per person ($12 for Broward county residents). Family membership annual pass costs $145 and includes 2 adults plus 4 kids for a year. read more

Great local spot for kids! Also by word of mouth, decided to give YAAM a shot. My daughter and I went on Friday to YAAM and spent about half the day enjoying the various themed rooms and activities. There was a field trip on said day, so there were some very energized elementary schoolers running around. Kids are kids -- no big deal! The museum has several rooms, including one of our personal favorite the water room. They provide adorable smocks for children to wear and avoid getting overly soaked. Other rooms Included an abstract like experience and glow dark room. Not sure I could keep my toddler there and entertained for more than 3-4 hours, but it was definitely fun. I believe we paid around 12.00 per person (no child pricing). I did think this was a bit over priced, but nonetheless we gave it a chance! Highly recommended. This is a beautiful and modern museum built with a focus on children's art education. I've been to a few events hosted by Young at Art; Yelp BPB's Burstday in April 2015 was a big one and my first time there. It's was established in 1987 and is located in Davie. They have a large parking lot to accommodate the guests. There is a notorious "I Love You" structure to the side of the building which draws a lot of picture takers. When entering, they had a big courtyard and the museum itself was ginormous. There were quite a few art exhibitions displayed throughout. They change the artwork every so often. I remember there was a 90's game room where they displayed all the games from that era and allowed us to play; the Nintendo was a popular one. During this particular event, there seemed to be hundreds of people. There was enough room for all the vendors to setup shop throughout the perimeter. Each room and section of the museum had beautiful displays of art. There's also an art institute, public library, teen center, and preschool a onsite. Even though this is primarily children focused, it's also fun for the adults. I had a great time viewing the exhibits and all the hard work and time these artists put into their pieces! Prices for adults and children is $14 but if you're a member, it is free. There are quite a few exhibits such as the Artscapes, Culturescapes, Greenscapes, and wonderscapes. They are always hosting some sort of event so it's best to go to their website. I highly recommend taking your children here and if you don't have children and love art, go check it out yourself. The YAAM is a great interactive museum, but it is also host to some great fund raising events. We had the opportunity to attend one such event recently and had a great time. The is plenty of food and drinks, live music, interactive events and the opportunity to bid in one of a kind packages with funds going to a great cause. Hats off to the organizers and the many businesses that participated. There were packages of just about anything you could think of, sports, travel, restaurants, movie theaters, and many more. A great venue, a great event, full of great people, for a great caused, what else can one ask for. The museum is a great place to visit, and their event are well organized and a lot of fun. read more

This museum is built into a Broward County Library. We took my 2 year old nephew for a few hours on a rainy summer day and he had a great time! There are at least 4-5 rooms of never-ending entertainment and stimulation for young children. I would say he was the perfect age because any younger and he wouldn't have been able to be quite as independent and children 5 and older may be bored by the exhibits geared towards engaging hands on interaction. We were extremely impressed by the ArtCade Exhibit that featured some old school video games and (mini) mini-golf in a glow-in-the-dark exhibit! There was everything from a water table with activity aprons to keep kids from getting soaked, to a Wishing Tree installation by Yoko Ono. We definitely could have stayed longer, and the little one was sad to go when nap time hit. Giving four stars instead of five because had we not purchased a Groupon in advance, I'm not sure the experience was worth $14/person, but I do love the chance to support a local community initiative. read more

This is one of my favorite venues in all of Broward-Palm Beach. They do so much good for the community and it's just as much fun for adults as it is for kids. They even do a couple of events a year in the evening for adults only - such as their gala, recycled fashion show and Annual Interest. At these events the museum comes alive at night with booze and bites....but still all the awesome interactive elements of the museum. A couple of weeks ago I brought my brother-in-law here for a few hours while he was in town. He has Down Syndrome and loves art/music so YAA automatically came to mind when I found out he'd be in town. STOMP - He had a blast in this room. Basically it's modeled after the popular broadway show. There are various street items like stop signs, plastic drum barrels, fences and more. You grab some drum sticks and go to town on all of them. PUPPET SHOW - This is nice for the smaller children. You can make your own puppet and then put on a show with them. WORLD SCAPE - This takes you into art/culture of various parts of the world. Really nice and educational. The rotating art exhibit in the back is always mind blowing. I remember they had one a while back that used everyday items to make these amazing sculptures. They used water spigots to make an garden of flowers, a cheetah made out of bullets and other awesome sculptures. This go around they have a "dreamland" where the artist has recreated her dreams and has half-human-half animal sculptures throughout the space. It's a pretty surreal environment. Also the museum does so much good. They have some great programs for underprivileged kids in the community and they bus them out to experience the museum and teach them about art. They also have fun things that I wish I could do as a kid - pottery classes, recording studio where you can make songs and much, much more. Young At Art - Art Museums Near Me - Plantation, Florida

The museum hosts an annual fashion show called, Recycled Fashion Show. It is a fundraiser to support the fashion program operated through Young At Art. High school students are given a material to recycle into a dress. Students work for months to prepare for this fashion show. The winning design this year was a dress made out of 500 plastic water bottles. Other dresses were made out of newspaper and junk mail. Before the fashion show, Whole Foods provided appetizers. There is also unlimited wine, beer, and soda. Kuerig was also there so you could make your own coffee. Yelp gave out a goodie bag full of materials, BankUnited Ear Buds, and a glass coffee cup. The event is $35 for adults. The fashion show has been happening during November for the past 9 years. You can purchase your tickets in advance at the Young at Art website. I am definitely coming back to see this again. I didn't know such a place existed until we had a Yelp Event here this evening. Now I'm hooked. And I barely saw much of the museum. I'll post some pictures I took so you can get an idea of what it's like to wander through here. And if you get tired, it's also a library. Curl up with a good book (I've written a few that I can recommend). Libraries and museums are two of my favorite places so to combine them is just so close to heaven I thought I might have died. read more

Nice museum..my toddler seemed to like most of the exhibition and spent a lot of time running around...playing and discovering new activities...which was great...better there than at home lol I went on a Saturday afternoon and the place was almost empty...only 3 kids at the playground..the place is not cheap and adults and children pay the same amount...so if you have 2-3-4 kids must be a treat to bring them to the museum...sad....maybe they need specials on weekdays or something like that..so everybody can benefit from the experience..specially the little kids...instead of having a half empty museum read more

Young At Art - Lots of toys to play with - Art Museums Near Me - Plantation, Florida

This place used to be in a beautiful large building and was an awesome museum with so much to do for the kids. Drove all the way here today from Miami not realizing they had moved to a run-down shopping mall and are now in a small retail space. It is not even 1/3 of the size of the original museum and the fact that they still call it a museum is laughable. I threw away $40 to come here today as I thought it would be much bigger than it was. There is nothing to do here and my kids ended up coloring papers at a table which they could have done at home for free. Staff looks miserable and do nothing to engage the kids. Do not waste your money or time coming here! read more
