We found a table for two and my brother went to the counter to order, but the staff completely ignored him - I get that sometimes you're busy and can't serve someone immediately, but I do think that a quick 'sorry sir, if you take a seat we'll come and let you know when we're ready for you' would have been a much better reaction than stony silence! Also, given how quiet it was, it doesn't bode well generally that the staff couldn't serve us immediately. My brother had a banana milkshake, which was profoundly disappointing; I had a latte, which was pretty good. We both got the large full English breakfast, and that was good - nice sausages, in particular, but good ingredients all round. My only complaint about the quality of the food would have been that the eggs' yolks were hard rather than runny, but that wouldn't stop me going again. Unfortunately, the poor service probably means I'll cast around for a different breakfast place. But the food is good, and the coffee was hot.

Nestled in the Cultural Quarter, it oozes intriguing art vibes with its quirky decor, vegan menu and vast array of teas and hot drinks. The staff are great, especially their amazing dress sense (not sure if they're just *that* cool or its part of a uniform?....) and the Southampton Fog I had was delicious! At the back of the cafe you'll find a funky little second hand shop, all you need to kit yourself out like a trendy staff member! And in the front they're turned the windows into exhibition booths for you to sit and have tea and watch the world go by (or be watched by the world!) Much like it's Old Town sibling there is a warmth to this coffeehouse which is seldom found in this city. We visited again this past weekend for a Saturday morning fry up (no hangover fortunately). My friend had the veggie and I had the Bosuns Mate. My breakfast was two bacon, two eggs, sausage, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, toast (or fried bread) and coffee for just over £4.00. The staff are always friendly, they know the locals and everyone seems to be happy to be there. We love it, so don't visit it, otherwise we might not get a seat!

I was told about this place by my sister who stumbled across it with a friend of hers and I'm sure much of its popularity is down to word of mouth. It's a little gem of a place that I'm very happy to have discovered!
