Ever since I first tried fro-yo at a place called Forty Carrots in New York, I've been hooked. It's like ice-cream but so much lighter (meaning I can eat tonnes more of it!) so when I saw the various frozen yogurt places pop up around Auckland, I was keen to go and try them out.
I was so disappointed with Yoghurt Story! It's got everything it needs to be good: a great idea (with it being do it yourself), a great selection of toppings, and a funky, instantly recognisable brand identity. Yet, there's something missing. It just feels a bit average. The actual flavours of the fro-yo are insipid and it's really expensive for what you get (mine was $9 for a small pot with purposefully lightweight toppings as you pay for the weight).
I prefer this Yoghurt Story to the one round the corner on Queen Street as it's much quieter; you can quite happily sit and eat your dessert and chill out rather have to deal with people walking in and out of Canterbury Arcade and the general hustle and bustle of the main street but it's still not a place I'd frequent again in a hurry, Auckland has much better food-stops on offer. read more
