I chose to have the lemon and yoghurt bombe alaska that was fantastic. The right amount of sweetness and tartness. There was a bit of confusion that kind of spoiled our experience as we also ordered the passion fruit and peach chocolate bon bon and was only told after the dish arrived that the passion fruit and peach were only available as shards, which was eight dollars more. We would have appreciated the waitress explaining that some of the chocolates came as shards and the others as bon bons, so we felt like we were tricked into ordering something. The cookie dough macaron was good but didn't remind us of cookie dough, more of a chocolate macaron. We left wanting a lot more from our experience chocolate- and pastry-wise.

It has a crispy lemony coating over a frozen yogurt middle, finished off with stripes of meringue on the top. It all case together so well! The cookies and cream rocher was also very delicious. It was topped with edible gold, had a crunchy cookies and cream outer layer before you hit a velvety chocolate mousse later. Finally, the inside had bits of cookie. It sounds very sweet and sickly but was pleasantly well balanced. I wish they had a Milse where I'm from! Actually maybe not, or else I'd be so broke.

Definitely falls into the category of an expensive sometimes treat…read more I had a fairly small-ish serving of the chocolate flavoured frozen yoghurt, which cost $4. I'd probably prefer to invest my hard-earned dollars in a boring ice cream from a dairy or even (horror) a soft-serve ice cream from McD's. That said, the fun of self-serve fro-yo is just that - it's a moment in which we have leave to regress right back to those all-you-can-eat days at Pizza Hut. You remember, you got all the "pizza, pasta, salad and desserts" you could eat, and the biggest attraction for the kids was of course, the soft serve and the miriad sprinkles. (Is it wrong that I remember that so vividly?). Of course this is a supposedly healthier option (it says low fat remember, not low sugar!), and I have to say I did enjoy my treat. I'll just remember to pull up on the handle a lot earlier next time.

Frozen yoghurt or 'fro-yo' is having an renaissance both in Auckland, and globally at the moment. A…read morefew places have popped up almost overnight and this one, located on busy central Queen Street is one of the most popular. While the orange and green uniforms donned by the staff are more than a little unfortunate the yoghurt itself is pretty good. The prices here are based on weight so while the initial price of $2.99 for a 100gram pottle sounds reasonable, don't do what I did and have a blonde moment while operating the heavy machinery (this is a DIY operation) and overfill it to the point of gluttony. What I initially just wanted as a little hot day mid-afternoon snack could easily have been consumed as a main meal and paying $11.00 for frozen yoghurt really wasn't cool but I have no but myself to blame. My choice of flavour was a mix of plain old vanilla and white choc/macadamia which was nice and fresh and best of all ice-cold. There are a choice of toppings also, so you can go from a more healthy option of fruit such as watermelon or pineapple or really go for gold with shaved chocolate, sweets and chocolate sauce. Whatever floats your boat!

I went in expecting the same as the fro-yo places I've visited in the past: self-serve yoghurt in a bunch of flavours and similar sugary toppings. The place itself is clean and spacious with some pretty funky décor (all white, wooden benches and wall, and a huge world map printed on the wall). There was a good selection of flavours, with some I hadn't seen elsewhere, like taro. The toppings station was also well stocked and pretty much the typical ones you find at the others - fruit, sprinkles, lollies, cereal, some sauces, popping pearls, mini cookies, and brownie and cheesecake bites. The taro, green tea and peach flavours I got (yes, I went all out) were not bad, but they were a little watered down and artificial tasting. For me, the consistency wasn't that great either, which was icier and less creamy than other froyo establishments. My friend opted for the caramel flavour, which neither of us particularly like, but the toppings (especially the cheesecake pieces) made up for that. Overall, Yogurberry is pretty attractive for its interior design and comfortable seating area, but frozen yoghurt wise, there are probably better choices. Also, there were no sample cups in sight, so it's really a case of take your pick and hope for the best!

They have always opened to the public 8.30-5pm Monday to Friday however they recently decided to open the cafe. The cafe will be open Monday to Saturday, and open late till 9pm Thursday-Saturday, so it will be a nice treat for those who live near the Beach Haven area. It was because of this that I noticed it and I am really glad I did, they have a whole assortment of chocolates, fudge and amazing chocolate gifts. They were very busy in there today getting chocolate ready for Easter, and if you want you can get a big chocolate with your name on it. As well as selling to the public they have a huge number of businesses that they supply to such as hotels, restaurants and shops. Today I had a coffee and biscuit combo that went down very well, and I tried the fudge - vanilla, chocolate and black sambuca - all of them were very good, but I especially enjoyed the black sambuca. I think I will come here often for my chocolate fix.

It's a super cute, quaint little shop in Beach Haven. When I wondered up to it this morning an EXTREMELY friendly lady welcomed me with the warmest of smiles and ushered me inside. I had a nosy around and loved everything I saw. I could find a gift for every single person I know, they were all wonderful and unique. I bought a three pack of truffles to share with my mom and sister. We nibbled and shared them between us and they were beautiful. It was only $5 for the pack, which I don't think is bad at all for quality chocolate. Extra bonus - they are open for deserts and hot drinks on some nights and there are ice cream scoops sold too. Everything you could want for a sweet tooth! I'll be popping in for desert very soon.
