It had been a while since I'd been to White's but on a blistering hot summer day in the city, it felt like the perfect choice. I was pleased to find that very little had changed. Situated in the breezeway underneath the Ernst & Young building, even its location offers some respite from the summer heat. I got the berry yoghurt (no toppings, although there are MANY) for my son and enjoyed the new Green Machine smoothie for myself. The addition of ginger gave it a zing not usually found in yoghurt smoothies. Service was fast & friendly, even though they were doing a ripping trade in the heatwave. Cost is more $$ than other fro-yo joints in the city but the quality of both yoghurt & topping choices make the splurge definitely worth it. Highly recommend!

Tucked away in Britomart's Atrium on Takutai is a cool little shop. I'm talking about White's; a business you should know about if you like to partake in delicious soft serve yoghurt (with toppings of course). After making a stop on a beautiful Auckland summer's day, I can confess I am now definitely a fan. White's products are made using all-natural yoghurt by Kiwi company The Collective. A vanilla swirl frozen yoghurt, complete with mixed berries and white chocolate pieces cost me $6.60 (small). What I thought was particularly awesome was the generous portion size, the relaxing, central city location; and the fresh cut flowers on the tables were a nice touch. Take a friend along to White's, they'll love you for it.

Being vegan the frozen yoghurt is off the menu but I come here with friends and while I must say the yoghurt looks (and I am told tastes incredible) there are non dairy delights available here. For instance the fruit and granola, which makes for a great breakfast and the coffee. The coffee used is Eighthirty which makes a nice espresso and the old school charm that White's & Co has with the old chairs that look as if they have been taken from a primary school are part of it's charm. The flowers on all the tables are a nice touch too. Worth coming down to Britomart for.

If you are like me and have tried every frozen yoghurt place in the city in the search for the 'perfect fro-yo'; which to be honest is about as rare as seeing a unicorn waltzing down the middle of Queen Street then look no further because at White's the illusive has become real! The perfect little offerings here are ice cold baby (note to self: must stop quoting Vanilla ice lyrics). The yoghurt is sourced from the company The Collective which has an excellent local reputation for quality products. On my visit I chose to have a swirl of vanilla and berry combined, topped with meringue and orange choc chips for my toppings. Mmmmmmmmmm. I love the fact that the toppings available are so different to other fro-yo places in the city - handmade sweets, curds and compotes. Definately a more gourmet take on it without the added prices attached. The only problem with whites is that they are no longer open as late as they used to be and close at half past 5, which is frustrating as I can't go grab a bite after work anymore.

I went in expecting the same as the fro-yo places I've visited in the past: self-serve yoghurt in a bunch of flavours and similar sugary toppings. The place itself is clean and spacious with some pretty funky décor (all white, wooden benches and wall, and a huge world map printed on the wall). There was a good selection of flavours, with some I hadn't seen elsewhere, like taro. The toppings station was also well stocked and pretty much the typical ones you find at the others - fruit, sprinkles, lollies, cereal, some sauces, popping pearls, mini cookies, and brownie and cheesecake bites. The taro, green tea and peach flavours I got (yes, I went all out) were not bad, but they were a little watered down and artificial tasting. For me, the consistency wasn't that great either, which was icier and less creamy than other froyo establishments. My friend opted for the caramel flavour, which neither of us particularly like, but the toppings (especially the cheesecake pieces) made up for that. Overall, Yogurberry is pretty attractive for its interior design and comfortable seating area, but frozen yoghurt wise, there are probably better choices. Also, there were no sample cups in sight, so it's really a case of take your pick and hope for the best!

Definitely falls into the category of an expensive sometimes treat…read more I had a fairly small-ish serving of the chocolate flavoured frozen yoghurt, which cost $4. I'd probably prefer to invest my hard-earned dollars in a boring ice cream from a dairy or even (horror) a soft-serve ice cream from McD's. That said, the fun of self-serve fro-yo is just that - it's a moment in which we have leave to regress right back to those all-you-can-eat days at Pizza Hut. You remember, you got all the "pizza, pasta, salad and desserts" you could eat, and the biggest attraction for the kids was of course, the soft serve and the miriad sprinkles. (Is it wrong that I remember that so vividly?). Of course this is a supposedly healthier option (it says low fat remember, not low sugar!), and I have to say I did enjoy my treat. I'll just remember to pull up on the handle a lot earlier next time.

A…read morefew places have popped up almost overnight and this one, located on busy central Queen Street is one of the most popular. While the orange and green uniforms donned by the staff are more than a little unfortunate the yoghurt itself is pretty good. The prices here are based on weight so while the initial price of $2.99 for a 100gram pottle sounds reasonable, don't do what I did and have a blonde moment while operating the heavy machinery (this is a DIY operation) and overfill it to the point of gluttony. What I initially just wanted as a little hot day mid-afternoon snack could easily have been consumed as a main meal and paying $11.00 for frozen yoghurt really wasn't cool but I have no but myself to blame. My choice of flavour was a mix of plain old vanilla and white choc/macadamia which was nice and fresh and best of all ice-cold. There are a choice of toppings also, so you can go from a more healthy option of fruit such as watermelon or pineapple or really go for gold with shaved chocolate, sweets and chocolate sauce. Whatever floats your boat!

My sadness than became joy because the gelato is excellent here. I tried a couple of different flavors and it was so difficult to not just get all of them, but we ended up getting the hokey. The gelato was smooth, creamy, and tasty. This is definitely worth the one time visit if you are in the area. I do not regret spending this much on ice cream at all.

It's the most ideal yoghurt place name imaginable. I like it for the following reasons: 1. The implication of some sort of twee, yoghurt based narrative that's about to unfold (which is kind of true to be honest, but is infinitely more sad than it first appears to be (*Spoiler alert* your 'yoghurt story' is that you buy some frozen yoghurt and get to kind of 'assemble' it yourself and ultimately you feel kind of disappointed with the whole experience.)). 2. It reminds me of this very awesome Nintendo 64 game called "Yoshi's Story". 3. It seems like a good idea to not call your yoghurt store [Something]yo. I dunno. What can you say? This was a boring and normal frozen yoghurt experience. The yoghurt was fine.

It's…read morelike ice-cream but so much lighter (meaning I can eat tonnes more of it!) so when I saw the various frozen yogurt places pop up around Auckland, I was keen to go and try them out. I was so disappointed with Yoghurt Story! It's got everything it needs to be good: a great idea (with it being do it yourself), a great selection of toppings, and a funky, instantly recognisable brand identity. Yet, there's something missing. It just feels a bit average. The actual flavours of the fro-yo are insipid and it's really expensive for what you get (mine was $9 for a small pot with purposefully lightweight toppings as you pay for the weight). I prefer this Yoghurt Story to the one round the corner on Queen Street as it's much quieter; you can quite happily sit and eat your dessert and chill out rather have to deal with people walking in and out of Canterbury Arcade and the general hustle and bustle of the main street but it's still not a place I'd frequent again in a hurry, Auckland has much better food-stops on offer.
