Finding annother Ashtanga teacher comparable to the wonderful Tasha at Yoga for Ewa on Oahu, who knows the sequencing and how to make adjustments seemed like an impossible quest unless I was willing to drive and fight through traffic to downtown Tampa. Fortune for me found itself at a little, cozy studio tucked away in a small shopping plaza off 41 behind the McDonald's. Leah is not only well versed in the primary series, she's no non sense, badass yogini who counts way too slow, but hey, it's to burn away my samskara, right? I have a love hate relationship with her, especially when she forgets to turn on the AC. If you are masochistic like me, go take Leah's Ashtanga class. It's small and intimate, so there's no hiding in the "back of the class". Seriously, it's a difficult class but things that come via difficulty are the most gratifying. And as they say here, no mud, no lotus! Oh I failed to mention logistics, register for class online for $12 a class (make sure you do it at least 30 minutes prior to the start time) or pay $15 at the door. Punch cards are available from the wonderful and sweet owner, Jessica (who I've heard gives a great massage). The merch is also pretty darn cute. Get yourself a "rocker tank" to display those Boulder shoulders you'll be getting from getting your headstand and Vinyasa on!

Plus, as a former dancer and avid paddleboarder, my body craved a more intense workout so I usually turned to Beachbody video programs. Florida Power Yoga is perfect for me because they offer classes that combine the benefits of yoga with cardio and Pilates-style moves. It's a nice change of pace from working out at home. Classes are held in a heated room to get your blood flowing and make you really sweat to cleanse your body of toxins. Florida Power Yoga is a great workout in an uplifting environment. Denice and her team are really special people who shine a bright light in our community. October 24, 2019 Update to prior review I was recently in Tampa again and excited to get to this studio, it's been years. I was disappointed that the owner was out of town, but I did get to take three classes during my week stay there. Pros: the teachers were very nice, gave great directions for both beginner level and seasoned yogis, the receptionist Rebecca was EXCEPTIONAL she guided me in getting the right package, and even texted me after to thank me for visiting the studio, I thought it was a lovely personal touch. Cons: the prices were a little on the steep side to me, and I didn't have many options since I was only going to be in Tampa for the week- I ended up purchasing a month package because it was cheaper than me purchasing individual classes or a package- each class was $21 and a month package of unlimited classes for new students was $30- Other tiny bit of criticism- there was an "advanced" class listed, I was looking forward to learning more advanced poses or working on some challenging balances- however their version of advanced was actually more that it was a "power yoga" class with aerobic incorporations with yoga- ie. repeated movements to increase heart rate...for me in my practice, I enjoy more rhythmic movements from position to position and more focus on even breath...a more traditional vinyasa flow. Overall it's a great studio and down the street from my apartment so anytime I visit Florida I will definitely be practicing there!!! Namaste

I even attended a yoga retreat weekend one time last year, which was amazing. So, I am not too experienced or consistent and I had never been to an actual yoga studio. I have started having some back issues and wanted to check out how yoga would help me. I found this studio which had a new student discount for 1 month unlimited. I signed up and am LOVING it! I travel to Tallahassee each week and back and forth to Tampa so I can only attend when I am in Tampa, but I truly miss not being able to go on the days that I am in Tallahassee. I would say that I have been going almost 4 days per week the last few weeks since I signed up. The teachers are professional, friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, and help educate you. I love the special added touches of incense, the equipment provided, the atmosphere, and so much more. The entire experience is amazing. If I ever attend another yoga studio out of Tampa, they will have a lot to live up to compared to my experience here so far. Highly recommended and I am excited to see where they go as they have appeared to be getting great interest and new members in the local community.
