I came the Saturday before Dec 25th. I had a great class on the lawn facilitated by Autumn. (Bring a mat for underneath your yoga mat if dewy grass isn't your thing.) I was looking forward to going again the following Saturday. I bought a class, showed up and apparently the hotel had moved the class inside. A sign would have been helpful because after 15 minutes of wandering around the hotel trying to find it, I located the room. It was locked but I could see people inside. I called and left a message requesting a refund. April called me back less than an hour later and said they send an email with these details (I only saw the confirmation email that I paid, which was on me for not looking for a second email). She apologized for the experience and said she would credit my account. I appreciate this responsiveness. I'll probably try taking a class again now that I understand how taking their class works. read more

My husband, who does not practice yoga requested a class as part of his birthday weekend trip...ok. I wasn't sure where to start, so I asked our Airbnb host, and she recommended I contacted April. So glad I did! She was very quick to reply and reasonably priced. We had thought we would do the class outside, but bad weather did not allow for that and she was quick to adjust and was able to arrange us inside properly. COVID brought Yoga Central outdoors and I love our new location at the Renaissance Hotel in Indian Wells where we can spread out as much as we want and reach for the sky. I have been a student in April's "Morning Flow" classes for about 3 years. I still have trouble reaching my toes or doing a proper plank pose, but April has taught me to work with my body. I had taken yoga classes before I moved to the Desert, but I find April's classes the best. We cover all the basics--we might close our eyes, stand on one leg, do back bends and vinyasas. We concentrate on breathing, she talks about our intentions, yet she makes every lesson different. Her guidance is clear and understandable. Every class is a full hour, working on all parts of the body. If you are interested in a thorough yoga session, this is it. Be prepared to work hard, but your body will thank you. read more

On the lawn in such a beautiful setting she guides you and your body to do new things and teach you and your mind new levels. I love this studio. Since my mother in law got a house in La Quinta on Washington I always come here. An owner April's class is my favorite and they do 90min class.(so I feel they don't rush and have enough time for savasana.) Blocks are there and always nice and clean. Students are super friendly too. One thing I always feel a bit odd that front desk staffs(so far maybe 3 times or more visits) are a bit dry, they don't smile and I feel not so welcome. read more

My wife has been trying to get me into Yoga for years. After experiencing several classes led by Anthony I am hooked. The setting outside on the grass at The Renaissance Hotel is spacious and peaceful, perfect, kudos to April on that move. Anthony's balanced approach with a meditation-like theme, proper pose instruction and allowing us to work at our own comfortable pace, is spot on for our needs. We leave each class with greater clarity, peace of mind, a true sense of well being body and soul. We are on the regular schedule in Anthony's classes Monday's and Friday's and plan to remain as long as Anthony remains. If you would add an Anthony Wednesday class we would sign up for that as well. read more

We stayed at the Hyatt next door and took the Slow Jam class with April on a Friday evening. Instead of the indoor studio in the lobby of the Renaissance, we were able to go to the peaceful olive grove at the far end of the resort. April had mats and blocks available and the class focused on deep stretching. Her yoga instruction was perfect -- she is so calm and gives great elaboration with each movement. We're not regular yogis -- we just wanted something peaceful to do to relax and this was perfect. 10/10 would recommend. read more

AMAZING Instructor , AMAZING Location, AMAZING people...I Love this place!! After being gone for several weeks I'm finally back and enjoying my yoga practice and experience again. April (the owner/Instructor) and everyone are so welcoming. The "studio" is located outside at the beautiful Renaissance Esmerelda..fresh air, sunshine, birds, grass & trees. After a class here you won't want to practice inside again. April is absolutely great and it shows that she truly loves what she does. Her flow sequences and cues are easy to follow and she is always giving options to those who have limits with certain poses. We've done a few outdoor yoga classes with April on our last trip to the desert, and loved them. This Sundays yoga hike was extra special. Great workout on the hike, beautiful scenery including a few bighorn sheep, and then a great yoga stretch at the top of a hill overlooking the canyon & city. This studio was packed! I tried it on a recommendation from a classmate in another studio and did their one-week newcomers package. The studio is not very large so we were all verrrry close together. Like, in warrior pose others feet were practically on my mat! The classes were true power yoga with a quick pace, which I appreciated. April is the owner so she taught some of the classes herself. I was so excited to find an outdoor class and eagerly took my place on the lawn. The class was okay however the teacher April was rude, not interactive, seemed disinterested in the students in general and was completely dismissive on both interactions with me at the beginning of class and at the end. Clearly not in Yogi mind set or spirit. I spoke to another former student who expressed the same and said she would never return to her class. read more

What lovely energy this studio exudes. It is so charming to see a multitude of demographics unified through the practice of vinyasa flow. I could not choose a favorite class, as each embodies its own uniqueness and manifests the spirit of vitality. I love that all instructors provide adjustments while holding poses, or suggest modifications when the going gets tough. Specifically, I love that each class incites challenge - a quieter mind, a softening in a sticky pose, attempting something one would not conventionally do. If you want to feel the roots of your community whether you are a visitor or permanent residence, Yoga Central is the place to be. (It's also a huge plus that the smell of waffle cones wafts over from the neighboring ice cream shop, just be careful your tummy doesn't growl in shavanasa.) read more

This was my studio during Coachella. As you know, I'm on my way to 200-days straight, so not even a little festival in the desert could keep me away from the mat. I found this place thanks to Yelp and I was not disappointed in the least. The studio is located in a small shopping center off of Highway 111 and Washington next to Coldstone and a sushi restaurant. During the hot days, I'm sure it takes a lot of willpower not to go and gorge on ice cream after burning calories- I know I'd want to. When you walk in, there is a nice little reception area. Since I was a new student, I took advantage of their intro rate of $30 for a week since I was going to be there for three days. It was close to the house and I liked the variety in classes and schedules they offered. The studio itself is very clean and has an open feeling since the ceiling and ducts are exposed. I really like when studios do this, you don't feel as claustrophobic when there are a lot of people practicing together. During my three days, I had the pleasure of being instructed by: Stephen Kaleda: I really liked his energy. It was a pretty full class and I was amazed that he knew almost everybody's name and made sure to use them. He gave a lot of positive reinforcement during the session and I really like that he walked around continuously through the instruction doing adjustments. His class was pretty fast paced, but it was definitely suitable for all levels of practice. April Jones: Holy crap. This class was tough, but I felt amazing after the fact. Everyone did what they could do, but she focuses a lot on strength and endurance. We started out in a horse pose for about 5-minutes and my thighs were singing to me even before we got into down dog. I don't think I've sweat so much in a Vinyasa class, but I loved every moment of it. Let's just say, walking was a little difficult throughout the rest of the day, but nothing two ibuprofen couldn't fix. Mandy Nelsen: This was my last class and it was probably my favorite. The instructor did a great job of blending both strength and stretching throughout the practice. Again, I was sweating like a madman, but I felt fantastic. She also played some pretty amazing music, so that made it that much more enjoyable. I also really liked that a lot of the classes were 90-minutes. Most classes are 60 or 75 minutes in my area, so I liked that extra time. There was some construction going on during a remodel next door. It was loud, but the teachers got everyone through it. Definitely not their fault, but that MedSpa should give all the students a free facial or massage for their ongoing patience during their construction period. I really enjoyed my time here and can't wait to check it out next year when I make the trek back for music. If I'm ever in the area, I'll for sure to stop in for a class or two! read more

I recently relocated from Santa Barbra and heard great things about this yoga studio. Went to a couple drop in classes with April. She was amazing. Then I took a class with Stephen. Wow....talk about DISCOURAGING. He not only points out your flaws instead of correcting you, he also RIDICULES you! After a class with him you will NEVER want to return!   A few adjustments to the wording from this instructor would be a nice improvement. What a shame since I now live so close. My husband and I have been going to the YoC since it opened in January and just LOVE it. We are yoga newbies and April and her team are wonderfully supportive, teach great classes and make everyone always feel welcome. Six months in and I couldnt imagine going anywhere else.
