It looked closed at first, but after trying the door we saw a couple of diners sitting in dark lightning. Immediately we were seated by a lady who gestured us to a seat. The booths were comfy, so we began to browse the menu. Each page held a lot of pictures of signature dishes. To drink I chose a reasonably price cocktail called Grand Slam £4.50..he had a asahi. These drinks took awhile to arrive but I understood why when I saw mine. It was split into three colours, unfortunately it didn't taste as good as it looked. Right food: tuna maki , £4 8 pieces, salmon maki wasn't not on the menu , these were made by request. Tuna sashimi,£8, nigiri and finally a seafood hotpot for myself and he had the spicy pork Raman, choosing udon noodles. The presentation was good, tuna was medium quality and the sushi reasonably sized. After all the sushi was consumed, the mains arrived. The broth in mine was tasty however I only found one scallop in my dish. His was also satisfactory for the price. I think the rating goes mainly to the service, as she was very pleasant and asked chef to create dishes that were not on the menu. The sushi was good. But when you have tried a lot like I have it becomes harder to be wowed.

Has its own car park which is convenient. Inside the restaurant is very nicely decorated with a very Japanese trendy Tokyo look which is different to other Japanese restaurants in Sheffield. Greeted with enthusiasm by the waitering staff and shown a nice picture menu of the sushi on offer. I opted to sit on the Teppan Grill table and the chef kindly introduced me dishes and how they would be presented. Very friendly atmosphhere. Ordered a small Sake Wine and selected Sirloin steak cooked with Enoki mushrooms. Chef went to prepare whilst I waited and admired the decor. Within a few minutes, I was presented with a fresh sirloin which was instantly cooked in front of me which I wanted Medium Rare. Excellent quality of steak and the taste was unbelievalbe. Price of £19.80 including 2 sides, miso soup and rice together with the theatre and entertainment value is a steal. Will come back again and again and again!

As a vegetarian I was fairly happy with the food choices. If you eat fish and other meats don't worry, there's plenty of choice for you too!!!. I enjoyed a portion of inari sushi and a beautiful bowl of mushroom and cabagge ramen with soya sauce broth and thick Udon noodles (Kinoko Udon). The hot food is cooked to order but you were welcome to grab anything that took your fancy from the belt, if what you fancy is not on the belt you just order it from one of the lovely staff members. You can eat in, order food for collection, order via uber eats, justeat, etcétera. The restaurant had a decent amount of people without being too busy (but I suppose Mondays at 1830 are fairly quiet anyway!) and I saw about 6 deliveries being collected, plus two orders to take away (this tells me the restaurant must be fairly popular with the locals.) You can take away lunch for just £4.95. Service was prompt, staff were friendly and efficient. Food was very tasty and freshly made. I wish I had been with my fiancé so I could have order some vegetable tempura to share . I would happily come back .

Or you can order to collect as a takeaway. They have their own loyalty card which gives various discounts though they also have an early bird meal deal for starter & main. They are on the tastecard listing which used to be 2for1 but now it's only on sushi and not the noodles! It was a great saving before!! I do like their noodles especially veg tempura with udon noodles. The bowls are slightly smaller than Wagamamas but much cheaper! I tend to eat there about 6pm so it's quite easy to get a table or sit at the conveyor belt, it's one of the only places I feel okay sitting on my own!!

Teishoku is served with steamed rice, miso soup, pickles and vegetable side. Everything in the set dishes was good. Pork was juicy and lightly marinated. The vegetable side was seaweed that accompanied nicely with the rice. ----- Onigiri & Miso Soup Set: two lightly seasoned sticky rice balls with your choice of fillings (£7.80). Add side of pickles and vegetables for £2.20. Filling choices were avocado, umeboshi, gohan desu yo, teriyaki mayo chicken, tuna mayo, smoked salmon. My brother picked tuna mayo and umeboshi. I tried a bite of the umeboshi unigiri. The rice was fresh and the pickled plum was extremely sour as expected. ----- Matcha Latte: frothy steamed milk whisked into matcha (£4.55). The quality of matcha was decent, although the drink itself was incomparable to the gyokuro that had such a refined taste. ----- Gyokuro: full bodied umami flavor (£4.85). A green tea with quite the peculiar flavor. It does require extra brewing time. ----- Make sure to book in advance. A couple that walked in after we were seated for our 12 PM Saturday reservation were told that the restaurant was fully booked until 2 PM. Seating in the outdoor garden was available, but it was too sunny and hot. Guest Wi-Fi is available.

Inside, the place is both well themed and deceptively spacious, and staff open up a false wall, leading into another room whenever things get busy, meaning that customers are highly unlikely to ever end up having to wait around to get a table. A Sunday Lunch all-you-can-eat buffet is available for £8.99 and China House even sells a small range of Thai and Japanese dishes. The menu is well-priced, the staff are friendly, the service is fast and the food is of a good standard. I'd definitely visit again.

Add to all this a meaningful children's menu which refuses to go down the nuggets line and seven-days-a-week (and most bank holidays) opening and we're really onto something. A four-and-a-half-hour Sunday buffet rounds things off. Hopefully that's enough to get you through the door. The venue itself is fine, but the location is at best blink-and-you'll-miss-it and at worst, undermined by a shopping precinct setting. Wylde Green is fine and that Birmingham Road stretch, like nearby Boldmere, is one of the few commercial strips still bearing independent traders. It's just a shame that the precise part in which China House lies is just that bit too 'concrete' - you half expect parkour jumpers. Logging onto the website to view the menu should be enough to get you past appearances.
