My dad had heard good things about this place so we went real early in the morning for breakfast. The prices seemed reasonable and you got a lot of food for what you paid. I ordered the veggie skillet and it was delightful. My dad had eggs and bacon with potatoes and he said the potatoes were spicy but incredible. Most importantly, the coffee was hot and plentiful. The server even guarded my food so he didn't spill coffee in it. Never had that happen before. I did take off a star and probably should have taken two or three for the lack of masks on kitchen staff and the one lady server. They earned at least one back because their menus come with hand sanitizer. What a smart touch since those things are always the dirtiest in any restaurant. read more

I'm just pointing this out for reference, because there's no sign on the building and could easily be missed if you're going there for the first time. I got the waffle combo with eggs and bacon. I also asked for a side of mama's potatoes with coffee which apparently didn't have free refills. My waitress was nice and did the best she could considering she and one other woman were the only ones waiting tables. I wouldn't recommend any large groups here because it is indeed a small , small restaurant. So the potatoes i was told were seasoned with onions, peppers and bit spicy. I didn't taste any of those things. My coffee was ok and hot with each refill. My bacon could've been crisper, the eggs were good but my waffle was cold when i got it and i sent it back. Went here for the first time today and is was delicious!!!! I had the croissant sandwich and it was very filling and tasty. The manager (I'm assuming) came around to the tables and asked his guests how everything was, when he got to my husband and I and found out it was our first time, he offered up his biscuits and gravy. I'm telling you what, that biscuit was no biscuit!!! It was a huge buttermilk MUFFIN!!!!.....that was fluffy and perfect with their scrumptious savory gravy. Went in for the first time last week and everything was amazing!!!! From the food to the exceptional service my husband and I had a wonderful night. Portion sizes were huge and meat was like a delicacy, not sure how they marinate their meat but it's some of the best meat I've had. Even their biscuits and gravy was mind blowing. Oh and our sweet server Karen brought my husband and I some samples to try on the house when they ran out of the special and it was like a full on meal. This restaurant was a small location and you might miss it hidden in the strip of stores. But the food was delicious and large portion. Our burgers were just like an old fashioned homemade juicy burger. We were so full from our lunch that we couldn't eat dinner. I believe the restaurant staff were all family members who were all very kind & friendly. We are definitely going back and I recommend for you to give this place a try too. I tried numerous times to reach out to the owner to no avail. Even left a message for a callback. I really wanted to know if the cook on my day of visiting was the regular cook or just a stand-in. Couldn't get any response so I'll just figure it was the regular cook. Minimum wage grill person, I think from the meal I was presented. Two stars only because my partner's pancakes were reasonable edible. My serving was literally abominable. "Yo Mama's " potatoes--greasy, undercooked, soft and flaccid. ICK, Eggs Benedict-strangely watery and tasteless, made with country ham (salty) and hollandaise sauce. I'd asked the waitress if they really made it or was it a pre-made concoction. Was told that is was made in the kitchen. Hmmmm. Watery, no taste whatsoever of lemon. Utter fail. At least the poached egg was done properly. Lastly the strawberry crepe. My guess is that the cook (using the term VERY generously) has never had a real crepe. This one was merely an over cooked slightly thinned pancake. Once again, ICK. The entire was so off the mark that I finished none of the three dishes. Again I tried to resolve my questions/issues but was ignored. Seems the lackadaisical owner's response was symptomatic of the kitchen's weakness. Eat here if you're Hoosier with basic taste buds, but if you are looking for some good chow, keep looking. read more

The owner came out and talked with me and then went in the kitchen a grabbed one of his famous biscuits and gravy(his secret recipe) and that was excellent. I stay near the shopping area and always like to try new places, I tried this place ordered the pork chop dinner. Pork chop didn't have flavor not even pepper. My side was a baked potato that didn't even come with butter or any type of side, just a plane potato no sour cream, green onions or even salt and pepper packs. For 14 bucks for flavorless pork chop and over priced menu, I will not be coming back again. read more

Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, food is epic. We ordered the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and OMG, the best I've had, crisp, hot, flavorful and not greasy. We shared the biscuits and grace with a fried chicken breast, 3 eggs and hash browns. The chicken breast was so fresh and juicy, the breading was crisp and flavorful, biscuit and gravy were one of the best I've ever had, hash browns were cooked perfectly. Dave the owner came to talk to us and ask what we thought and was so nice and friendly. I can't say enough good things about Yo MaMa's. Home cooking at its best. Avoid!!! I was hopeful that this would be a good Mom and Pop restaurant. This place is actually pretty gross. I should have known from walking in the front door, the heavy smoke smell should have been my first clue. After placing my order and then observing the filthy surroundings. The pancakes that were served looked like they had debris from a dirty cooking surface. The thick sausage links looked cooked on the outside, but the middle was still pink. After seeing another customer having a bad experience with the staff, I didn't want to mention my issue. Not sure why there is so much love for the place. The chair covers desperately need to be washed. And the bathroom could use a lot of attention. Cleanliness is not a strong point for this place. Service was below average. I definitely will not be returning. Left feeling very disappointed. read more

Stopped in for Sunday brunch with the family and were excited to try this place out for the first time. The interior was cute and cozy and the staff were all super nice and made you feel at home! Really enjoyed the experience! Only thing we had a problem with was the crepes we ordered. At first they were very eggy and didn't taste like a crepe at all, however, they remade them for us and they were better the second time. The crepes were light and fluffy (not too sweet). I've been here at least 5 times, and I will say the food is DELISH! The breakfasts are amazing esp biscuits and gravy. They have their "yo mamas" potatoes which are very tasty. It's decorated so cute in there and they add to it for holidays. It's small (former schoops) but I've never seen it packed. I'd give it a 5 except I'll be honest when I say the waitresses are just not that friendly. They are pretty efficient and dutiful but not much personality or interaction - could smile and talk a bit more. You won't be sorry after dining here and tasting delish meals. read more

THIS FOOD! Yo Mama's is a tiny little gem of a diner inside a strip mall and the food is 10/10! Ordered takeout chicken biscuits and gravy with mashed potatoes and honey hot fried wings and was blown away by how delicious everything was! The portions are HUGE so you'll have enough for later. I typically don't eat left overs but put it in a Tupperware container and might even have my chicken & biscuits for breakfast tomorrow :) The one thing I will say is the staff were not masked which as someone who is fully vaccinated I am not sure how to feel. I understand that there is no mask mandate in Indiana as of April 6 BUT it would probably be better to play it safe for your customers who are at risk. Support small businesses! read more

Last year I came in and had an excellent big omelette . Yesterday I took my son and we split an omelette thinking it was still huge. It was downsized. We had the meat lover's with "yo mama's potatoes." First off, the meat in this was very sparse and the cheap cheese they used was too much and very salty. Omelette was watery inside. The potatoes were without flavor, undercooked and without onions. Waitress said they were grilled with onions, not one in sight. Salt, pepper and hot sauce, problem solved, I guess. We left and I came back to politely complain an hour later as we live close by. The waitress said "ohh no, these are 5 egg omelette. I disagreed. She came back from the kitchen, ohh no, they are 4 egg omelette. Really? Well ok now apart from the one owner/waitress lady listening and staring and not saying a word. The cook comes out, with a scrunched up face, looking like a convict minus the face and arm tattoos, and looks at me and also not saying a word. I ask if he was the owner or cook or what? He says uhh, yeah. I'm like ok and I speak my peace. He has excuses for his meal and no accountably or apology. I heard three times I should have said something when I was eating. Yes I should have but we ate and left and then I had time to process the experience. I know I hurt their ego's, by the energy they put back, they seemed stunned they someone would complain. They offered me nothing and I left. Folks around here don't have a ton of choices for breakfast diners. They will still come back. In my opinion. Just a clueless greasy spoon. This was my first visit to yo mama. I ordered over the phone and went to pick my order up after 20 minutes or longer. When I ordered, they didn't tell me how long it would take to prepare my order, so I just went when I thought it would be completed,which was 20 minutes after I phoned. Upon entering the establishment, there were several people hanging around. I couldn't tell if they worked there, or they were just hanging out. When I approached the person behind the counter, I asked about my order. She told me that it would be 30 minutes or more because they had just changed the oil in the deep fryer. I ordered a turkey BLT with fries and coleslaw. When I opened my order at home, I was very disgusted. There wasn't any coleslaw, the french fries were undercooked and limp. The turkey sandwich had the meat cut very thick, and it was full of fat and gristle. It was completely inedible. I ended up throwing the complete order away. I wasn't given a total for my order, and I didn't get a receipt when I paid. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone, and I will not return. read more
