If I could give this place -5 stars I would. This is nothing short of a feed lot where they milk…read moreyou for every penny you, or your insurance has and then throw you out. I went to the Self Help Center in Casper as I was hiding there from an abusive man. My friend, who is an attorney, suggested that since I am disabled from a severe brain injury that I would be eligible for help. They painted a beautiful picture of a spa like place where I could rest and gain my strength. HAAAA!!! THEY GET KICK BACKS FOR SENDING PEOPLE THERE!!!!! I arrive by ambulance, so as to get even more money out of me, and undressed and made to face a woman who would later mock me as if we were in Jr. High school, and face her spread eagle, fully naked, told to squat down and cough. NICE. I felt soooo much more loved. At this point I would have given my left arm to go back to the guy who referred to me as "fucking cunt". I was then put in a room with a woman who was in a wheel chair, who got up and had very strong smelling bowl movements, at least 5 times during the night. Every hour on the hour, a staff member opened the door, shined a flash light directly in my face, flapped loudly through the pages of a log, and made a note, then went to the next bed and so on. Obviously there was no sleeping there, much less quality "rest". So I ended up speaking to the "doctor" ( and I use this term very loosely), for about 10 to 20 minutes. He decided that the medications my neurologist at the U of U Brain study Center, had prescribed, were inappropriate medications and that I had completely different diagnosis' than any other therapist or doctor I have ever seen in my life gave me. He called me a liar, I called him an asshole, because I have never met a more pompous, bloated, arrogant, piece of shit, in my entire life! When my friend called the girl who had painted this place as wonderful to us, and told her all this and that after 3 days, I was still wearing the same clothes that I had been in the day they put in me in the ambulance, SHE LAUGHED!!!! GUFFAWED!!! And hung up on her. My friend the attorney copied the laws straight out of the WY law books about how I was to receive medical care and therapy within' the first 24 hours I was there. I had been directly told by more than 4 staff members that "they are merely a holding facility, and do not provide care, medical or mental health, to anyone". Broken law #1. I also learned that if you are not a resident of WY and you are indigent, (poor), and held against your will, that if you are released after your 72 hour hold, the County is liable for your bill. They asked me for proof of my income, I sent it, they say they never received it and they billed my insurance and took the ins. settlement. Broken law #2. Then they tried to collect the remaining balance that is legally supposed to be written off, because they agreed to accept the amount the insurance paid them, and then sent me to a collections agency. Broken law #3. I was told I had never called, contacted, sent them anything. This is a FULL YEAR AFTER THIS ALL STARTED. When I took the copies of the law to various patients who were being told the same lies and being denied their rights under the law, more than one staff member, told me I looked even more crazy. When I cornered "Big John", and quoted the law stating I should be given medical treatment with 24 hours of first being detained, and asked him if he was sure I was the paranoid one? Or was it in fact their sorry excuse for a staff that was paranoid? he glared at me. I have spoken with people in their billing dept. numerous times, faxed and mailed my income documentation, which should have prevented them from even billing my health ins.. I didn't ever ask to be put in that place, it was suggested to me by a 20 year old woman, who assessed that I was suicidal after speaking to me for just a few minutes. The next thing I saw, was a police car. Gee........... I wonder if the money her office receives from WBHI affected her recommendation in any way? Hmmm. Weird. I have not recovered from the events in my life leading up to this incarceration, or even been able to deal with the anger issue that this situation has triggered in me. It's been a full year and I am still traumatized from this experience. I lost over 50 lbs and most of my hair shortly after being released from this facility. I seriously considering a law suit. These people are wolves that hide in disguises of people who care and want to help you with your trials and tribulations, and then when they have their noose around your neck...., all bets are off! It becomes time to dig through your wallet and search your bank account. There is a special place in hell for these types of people and I would be willing to bet money that they describe themselves as Christian people who are helping people and being good businessmen in the process. Jesus didn't charge $1300 a day for slop and ridicule.
