My family of 4 loved the YMCA from the moment we walked in. The front staff was friendly and informative! Their facilities are clean and state of the art. We used the pool several times per week and the water is crystal clear and clean, and the lifeguard staff take safety as their number one priority. They are friendly with the children and supportive of the members. However, I have never felt so unwelcome in an athletic environment in my entire life. I have been competing in the pool for 44 years including an NCAA collegiate career and more recently as an elite age-group/Masters triathlete since the year 2000. Now, I am recently recovering from cancer and have set lofty ambitions for the Ironman World Championship! The YMCA published lap pool schedule was wrong with zero lanes available on Tuesday nights at 6:00 PM (typically, a busy time at most pools after work) and the stated 3-lanes was down to only 2 lanes other nights at 6 because water aerobics participants would book lanes in the lap area for their workouts. I appreciate the efforts of ALL athletes of ALL abilities willing to commit to their health goals; but in my case, my goals were de-prioritized. We were asked to leave when I lost my temper and yelled when the lap lane was roped off for the umpteenth time this past summer. I know my behavior is inexcusable and I am sorry that I got so angry (and in front of my own children), but it also is unacceptable not to abide by the published schedule. If you are a recreational athlete, or just using the Y for basic health goals, then you will LOVE this place, but if you are serious about your training, then you will be treated as an outsider. read more

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. We had a swimming party and the price paid compared to the time frame is ridiculous. We were watched and rushed and reminded often of how much time was left. Don't recommend having parties there but would recommend swimming lessons. read more

This branch is extremely clean and well maintained. The staff at the front are kind and welcoming. Machines and equipment are clean and lots of options. We have enjoyed using the pool, too. Great to have a family pool separate from lap swimming. read more

I placed my infant in the child care at the Y and I am very dissatisfied for a number of reasons. My daughter came home with a large bruise on her face and a busted lip. We were not informed of this incident until we noticed the injuries at home and inquired with higher ups. She tripped and hit her face while playing but regardless we should have been informed immediately due to the severity! There were several occasions where she was filthy upon being picked up, food covering the entirety of her face, nose sealed shut with snot, and poop on her clothes (she has a clean change of clothes there so this is unacceptable). They couldn't locate items she came in with - socks, 1 shoe, sippy cup. The facility is extremely unsanitary, chunks of food on the changing table which indicates it is not being wiped down between uses during very RSV prominent times. Food and mess everywhere + children running around without clothes on is just not what I want to see when I come to pick up/ drop off my child. I think the Y as a whole is probably a good facility, administration has been very helpful through all of this mess but the daycare is extremely poorly run. My child will not be returning to this program. read more

I am a 100% disabled veteran who needs to swim. I was a member for over 15 years and enjoyed the old pool. After the new $13 million pool was built the aquatic staff and YMCA director gave two (2) people the opportunity to reserve the same lane. This would typically be done for swim teams who swim the crawl and the same speed. However, based on doctor advice, I swim a medley of 5 strokes (2 on my back) for 7 cycles. This cannot be done under the Y's reservation system. Swimmers run into each other. People get hurt. I originally spoke the the Aquatics Director and staff 2 or 3 times. They said the Y's director controlled the reservation system. Then, over a period of 2 months I wrote specifically (and nicely) to explain my situation, clearing each letter first with a Trustee before sending. The letters' intent was not only ignored, I was personally humiliated in the way it was delivered. The Y claims to Respect and Honor all people. This Y does not listen to well-meaning patrons or 100% disabled veterans. As a consequence, I quit the Y. Nobody has even asked why... hence, this warning to other potential Y users. read more

Was in Casper for the High School State Track Meet and just needed a place to shower for two days. I called to see what their rates were to use the shower and the young lady who answered the phone was helpful. When I finally got to the facility to shower, the young lady was even more helpful and extremely friendly and inviting. She definitely made me feel welcome to this YMCA. The locker room, bathroom, and showers were old and dated but still in satisfactorily working condition. When I returned the next morning to shower again (Saturday morning), the young man at the desk informed me that they were closed except for the Scuba Training going on in the pool. Despite this, since I was only going to take a quick shower and not using the rest of the facility, he still let me come in to shower. This is by far the best YMCA that I have ever been to in regards to the staff employed. I have never met such friendly and helpful employees at a YMCA before. I highly recommend this location for a place to workout if you live in Casper. Thank you so much! read more

UPDATE: The new facility is WONDERFUL. Our only issue is the size, as it is typical of Casper, things are replaced on a smaller scale. They weight room is combined with a cardio section, so everyone gets to stare at your backside...probably deters some people from using it. Facility is very clean and the staff are friendly. They offer several different classes so you shouldn't have trouble finding something to do. Love that they have a dedicated teen/kid/lounge area and that the weight room is now age restricted. Day passes are a little pricey, but the membership rate is low. They offer a military discount and have an even lower "veteran grit" group-member rate. That's a very unique and impressive program. If you are a veteran, you should definitely join that group. As for the pool, it is in the "old" building and not much has changed aside from the staff being much more aware and a heck of a lot friendlier. Still, watch out for the few lifeguards that don't pay attention or have their dog in the pool are (YUCK). Hopefully, when phase II of construction is solidified, it will include the state's only olympic sized pool. Casper could really use that!! Please, no more splash pads and water slides... read more
