My children have been to several camps. This is their favorite. This camp has it all and more . Lots of options to do. Staff is absolutely great. Makes your child feel right at home. My boys consider bit their second home!

    Diabetes Youth Foundation - Campgrounds

Managing type 1 diabetes is difficult for adults so having a resource like this for children (ages…read more5-19) and their families to learn how to delay the progression of this lifelong condition early so that they can live as "normal" as they can is fantastic! The camp will pretty much accept any child who wants to come despite financial burdens. The program is made possible by donations and volunteers, who act as camp counselors, medics, and educators, invested in the children's safety and growth. There are different programs throughout the year at camp such as Family Weekend, Teen Weekend, and Summer camp. Summer camp is probably the most rigorous because there are more newly diagnosed younger campers learning about their diabetes. The foundation's website is helpful with FAQ's about what to bring and to expect. The meals offered were pretty tasty and they will try their best to accommodate special diets if notified in advanced (e.g. vegetarian, gluten-free). Campgrounds themselves can be rented out to groups in specific months. It's 28-acres big with fields, huge rope climbing apparatus, swimming pool, and basketball court. I went during the fall when the leaves were changing and it was gorgeous! There is air conditioning in the cabins but no heat so prepare well. It was 40-50 degrees during teen camp and I didn't pack enough layers or a heavy enough jacket even though I thought I did! I saw strong friendships between the children and families because they're able to relate to each other that other people without diabetes may not be able to understand. It was eye-opening to learn how much more these kids had to do than the average person in order to just play, eat, and stay well. (It's a lot of math and self-awareness). They're just amazing and great kids that deserve to live a healthy life!

When you walk in, it takes just a second for your eyes to adjust as the whole place is dark and lit by blacklights. As you enter the door, you are greeted with a few arcade game machines. The mini golf course is towards the back and was relatively reasonable for pricing. It was $26.00 for three adults to play a round. The course was decent with many right angle banking and some shots where you need to hit it into an obstacle. There is no elevation to the holes unless it is a ramp so the holes are almost all flat. The final hole is a large clown face where you hit the ball into his mouth. The arcade consisted of quite a few games to play: skee ball, crane games, deal or no deal, a big wheel to spin and a few other fan favorites as well. The games cost anywhere from $1.10 to $1.75 for a play so it isn't completely outrageous. There were 't too many options to choose from at the arcade redemption center so I would suggest expanding more items here for people to earn. This is a fun place to spend a couple hours with the kids or a fun date. They even have birthday packages available for children with a designated room.

They are so loving and caring for these little babies. My daughter has since moved up two classrooms but every morning we walk by and my daughter wants to stop and say hi to Linda & Iman. We both adore them. Her next class she was in with Carmen and Makayla and unfortunately it was only for a few months because my daughter adored these teachers as well. Especially Carmen! In the mornings, my daughter would go straight to Carmen and turn around and waive me. Goodbye. Although that made me sad it also made me so happy knowing she loved being at school. These teachers were so interactive with their kids and really had fun with them. We just moved up to our third room and I can't review yet on those teachers but I have no doubts I'd give them 5 stars too. I will admit when we joined earlier this year the place was a bit chaos, but since they've gotten a new Director and it has been an entirely different experience. The teachers have remained the same and the communication is way better. I'd highly recommend this place for anyone needing care for their kids.

Kiddie Academy was one of our top choices when we got on 4 waitlists in October 2022 (8 months in advance of our daughter's due date). We ended up needing to move up our start date by 3 weeks due to our daughter's early arrival. All of our waitlist placements fell through and we were in a total panic. Erica at Kiddie Academy got us in when we called in June 2023, and we are so happy with the care provided for our baby. Lynda and Iman are amazing with all of the infants. They are absolutely wonderful caregivers and we could not be happier with them. I trust them when I drop off my now 4 month old. I can peek into the classroom using the webcam service and if the teachers aren't feeding or changing an infant, and the infant isn't napping, they are playing or cuddling with each one! I second the other reviewer who states the new administrators are doing a great job. I know staffing/turnover is an issue across the industry and I hope Kiddie Academy can do whatever it takes to retain their caregivers.
