Great way to stay warm when camping on the beach!
Scott H.

This is an annual treat for us with Adventure Guides. There's little better than camping right on the beach, feet from the waves. The food is passable here, the staff is outstanding. The night times tent to be cold and heavy with dew, heavier than other areas it seems. So - plan ahead If you're tent camping else you'll wake up to a wet bed, etc as water drips through your waterproof tent.

Came here for a 3 days 2 night retreat with a group of 30! It was a fun experience! Pros: -Atmosphere is amazing! I'm not much of a beach person, but coming here has really opened me up more about the "beach life"! -Staff here are amazing! Hands down friendly, approachable and knowledgable. -Team bonding activities are fun, meaningful and challenging. We all got closer together in a short amount of time. -Eco friendly and a great advocate for protecting our environment and natural resources! -Cafeteria is great....ocean view is crazily beautiful and I love how they do "family style" meals! -Salad bar is also delicious! So many different toppings to choose from! -I like that all around the camp grounds, there are games and activities to keep busy. We all love "carpet ball"! -Archery, trails, climbing tower had safety equipments and were all very fun!!! Try it out if possible! Cons: -Water was only available until 7 pm, since kitchen closes at 7. Recommend this place for a short retreat or quick camping trip!

Late night Bonfires, out of control..

Camp Surfvival!!! Big After Hours Party!! Prepare for NO SLEEP! Worst place to camp ever, bunch of drunks sitting by the bonfire way after 1000 talking loudly with profanity. If this was a National Park, rangers would be here to shut them down, but since this is the YMCA, there are no rules, no staff, nothing, but bunch of drunks. If you want your child to learn new found volcabury, this is the place, you might not like what the learned. It's 1000 PM, kids running around the campgrounds playing tag. It's Madmax Thunderdome camping... San Diego Fire, we need you to come, the bonfire is out of control. Four fire pits, competing for the Burning Man Competition. I also noticed strong marijuana smell walking by the staff compound. Its probably for medicinal purposes... Staff was hard to spot, no uniformity, they need to have the same uniform, not just a nametag. Programs were sporadic, didn't hear any announcement as to the day's events. Overall, it is was a very bad experience, when you can't sleep, it hard to enjoy your time the next day. Hire some night staff, security, to patrol the grounds. It creates conflicts when we have to police ourselves.

My daughter and I had such an awesome time and camp surf with her Girl Scout Troop! The camp staff were all so good with the kids and made things super fun! The food was so much better than expected! This was the most fun I have had with my daughter in a long time! We will be back next year!

Pick up day! The kids get to show you the new skills they learned!

Just picked my 8y/o daughter up from the overnight camp! She LOVED it! The camp counselors were very friendly and informative! They answered all questions and positive energy radiated off of them. The camp post daily pictures of your little ones while they're away and it is password protected. I even gotten a post card from my daughters counselors telling me about my daughters progress and experience! My daughter gained so much confidence in the ocean and has gained memories for life! I definitely recommend this camp! Big shout out to counselors Kate, Emma, & Ruby for making my daughters experience so much fun!

Skit night.

Unfortunately it seems they weren't ready as a business and very easily gave up on all these girls and the program not even a year into it. They were unorganized and the communication along the whole way was just bad. During these times of bad communication and lack of attention to detail we decided to let it go as it's a new program. Things take time to perfect and get right. Correct?..... Not to them apparently it was easier to just cancel the program and let all these kids and staff down without any sort of communication. Just one day out of the blue putting it on the coaches to relay the terrible news that ownership and management made. Slayden couldn't even show up to inform us. He didn't even want us to come to the coaches with problems only to him. Yet he couldn't even show up to tell us face to face. Apparently they didn't want to handle the finances?? Not only did we waste nearly a 1000 dollars on a uniform as well as our monthly tuition and all the other costs. But our girls who worked hard all year didn't even get a end of the year banquet like even the cheapest pop Warner teams get. The company and managers are a joke. I would honestly think twice before bringing your kids here.

A 5 star rating for Alan!…read more We had an orientation for our two kids now that they are old enough to workout with us and Alan was our coach. From the start of the appointment to the end he was amazing! He shook all four of our hands, asked our kids what their goals were and really tried to interact with them. We went into the workout area and he let both of my kids try any approved machine they wanted and he took the time to really teach them how to use it safely, but with a fun twist. We went outside, he explained all the programs that were relatable to their ages, he said "hey" to other employees and had the kids wave to them and say hi. It was all very natural. Aside from machines, he taught them some dumbbell exercises with the lightest weights and then had them show off their muscles. My kids were excited before, but now they are PUMPED. We never felt rushed, always asked our permission before doing anything for them and really made them feel like they were meant to be there. We ended our appointment with him taking the time to walk us all the way to the doors, handshakes from us and lots of fist bumps from my kids. It's only been a day and my kids can't wait to go back. Thank you Alan for educating my kids, being patient and most importantly making them feel seen and important. Your impression will forever last in their memories and I know they look forward to seeing a familiar face when we all go together.

Really Nice people and a very clean facility. I use the pool often when I am back to San Diego.read more

DON'T SEND YOUR CHILD TO ECOLART. The owner of the camp is only there for two weeks of the summer…read moreand does not leave your children in the hands of qualified experienced people. My son attended the Montreal location in August 2017. The camp is run and activities are carried out by 18-25 year olds with NO QUALIFICATIONS. These are children supervising children. The result is a hazing game the kids are subjected to called Zorro. They are given challenges such as leaving their room at 1am to go into the lake and take selfies and climbing on abandoned railway cars and climbing on top of ambulances! When or if they don't do the challenges they are given punishments. Two given to my son were: having rotten eggs and milk (the counselor said urine too) thrown over his head; and having lasagna stuffed down his bathing suit. I still can't believe I paid over $2000. to have my son abused at the mercy of older teenagers and 20 something kids! Why didn't I ask for qualifications? I don't believe the counselors even get any training. In our province we have a program for young teenagers who want to work with kids. It's called High Five Principles and it teaches them to respect campers, to NEVER touch campers and to foster healthy minds and bodies. I have to question whether ANY STAFF have teaching qualifications, coaching qualifications, life saving qualifications, CPR qualifications, Early childhood education diplomas. The owner did have his brother sit in an office to give the illusion that someone is there to make sure everything is okay. I spoke with the owner after I picked up my son. The only thing he admitted was that having the boys running outside into the lake at 1am in the morning was not a good idea. In other words these challenges are not approved at all. Then he actually tried to blame my son! He said that had behaviour issues. I asked him to expand and he said he was running in the hallways. Wow, I've got to admit my son has serious behaviour issues! This is a kid who has NEVER got into trouble at school (unlike his brother) and tries to please everyone. The final insult is that I was verbatim told by the owner that the kids in french immersion are given bracelets to signify that they need to be spoken to in french. This simply was not the case. Bracelets are given but to they signify anything to do with language. They were divided into groups based on age, overnight camp vs day camp and given names for that group. My son said the majority of kids in his group weren't in french immersion and wore the identical bracelets.

From a logistical standpoint, it's easy to sign up,…read morethe drop off and pick up are well organized, and so is the medicine drop off (my kiddo has an epi pen for bee stings). Even adding money to the snack shack card is easy. I've also been put on the wait list a few times and had no problem with that proecss. On Thursdays, there's limited parking and they literally wait at the sidewalk helping get the kids in quickly so you don't get a ticket. The people here are a total class act and really seem to love what they do. My kids come home FILTHY and raving about their teachers: Puddles, Butterfly, Scooby, Walrus, Ant to name a few that I can remember this week :) They also love the archery, the arts and crafts, and of course, the snack shack. Newt, I beleive runs the place. He greets the kids with such enthusiasm and respect and kindness. We even had an incident with our older kid last year and received a phone call explaining the situation with my kiddo right there. He was firm, authoratative, explained what needed to be done next time, but completely appropriate and at the same time reassuring to my son that they were on the same team and in the end, all was good. Did my son cry? Yes. He also clearly got the point, has not made the same mistake, and still loves going to Camp. It was handled perfectly and I really appreciated it. I've seen a handful of comments from several years back with bad reviews about customer service. This was before my time, but I can say those reviews feel foreign to the experience I've had here for now 2 summers. Can't recommend this place enough.

BEST WEDDING VENUE EVER!…read more My husband and I dreamed of a wedding where everyone could stay together onsite, immersed in nature, with no worries about driving after a night of fun, and Camp Osito Rancho made that dream a reality. Our families stayed in the health center, lodge, and electrified cabins, while our friends embraced the adventure of summer cabins and tents. The venue offers so many stunning spaces, from the spacious dining hall for meals to the stage/amphitheater with fire pits--perfect for s'mores and late-night stories. We exchanged vows at the top of a hill near the outdoor pavilion, with a gorgeous backdrop of pine trees and a view of Big Bear Lake in the distance. We were able to offer our guests camp activities like archery and a pool day, as well as had room to setup other activities like craft tables and lawn games. The biggest perk was the complete freedom to choose our own vendors, allowing us to create a truly personalized experience (huge shoutout to Scratch Kitchen for catering--our guests still rave about the food). We spent a year making signs, collecting décor, buying solar lights, and crafting to transform this Girl Scout camp into a full-blown wedding festival. If you're up for planning the details, this venue is the ultimate blank canvas. Last but not least, the Camp Osito Rancho team is absolutely amazing. A huge thanks to Angel for her help throughout the year, Ryan for his help throughout the weekend, and to Gerardo for the tour that sold us from the start. For a wedding that feels like an unforgettable getaway, this place is pure magic
