The sauna is now closed and I went to an employee, Sam, and began expressing my concerns to the constant issues with the sauna. End of it Sam argued, didn't care and said it is my choice to be a member and I could find somewhere else. Sam doesn't understand I do my chemo treatment Monday afternoon and my routine includes coming to the gym for mind body and spirt before the infusion center. This is not about a sauna thing this is about a routine I've been doing for a year and some employee with zero care. Sam didn't know and doesn't care because Sam is all about Sam. Anyway end of the day Sam is right. I can choose any gym and just start a new Monday routine there. Please don't hire anymore like Sam. I just spoke to the manager who took time to hear me. Thank you for listening and hearing my words. She also shared with me her father's journey and hers as a caregiver. Real convo with a caring professional. As long as there is management in place like her this gym will only get better. Thanks lifetime and thanks Sam.

I've been going to gyms a long time, and I've seen just about everything. But this one really…read morerubbed me the wrong way. The other day, a trainer was working with a client and acted like she owned the place. My buddy and I went to use some equipment in the same general area, and before we even got started, she waved us off and told us we couldn't be there -- like the whole section was "hers." Look, I get it. Personal trainers need space sometimes. Fine. But this is a public gym that everyone pays for. You don't get to block off a whole area and bark at members like they're in your way. If she had just said it politely, no problem. But the attitude was unreal. I'm old school. Basic respect goes a long way. This whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth and made the gym look unprofessional.

As someone who used to go to Lifetime right up the street, I am quite impressed by this gym. When…read morelifetime was starting to get a little too expensive I started my hunt for a new gym. This was one recommended to me by a friend, so I gave it a try. I am glad I did. Reasons I like this gym: usually not too busy (especially when I go) -- don't ever feel like I'm fighting over equipment; the machines are set up nicely and spread out -- you never feel like you're on top of everyone else; cleanliness is big -- have never felt as though the equipment, floors, restrooms, or locker rooms were dirty. All in all, I appreciate this gym for its convenience and numerous locations as well as its monthly price. You really get what you pay for with this one. They even have a membership option where you can bring a guest every time you go to the gym!

When I'm not working, relaxing, dining, or volunteering, this is where I am…read more DAC has the essentials I need to stay in shape--or lately--take fitness to the next level. They have gear for everyone, except the hardcore powerlifter (meaning no 100 lb plates, jack racks, platforms, bar jack for deadlift loading, competition bench, or chalk stand.) They DO have squat racks, Smith machines, flat and incline benches, a range of dumbbells up to 140 lbs, and an array of basic HammerStrength machines. The bonus for me is that they have FreeMotion machines, which are the bomb for plane-and-range-of-motion training. They've also got assorted tubing, medicine and stability balls, and Bosus. In case someone from DAC reads this, it would be super-cool if you could install a TRX rack or two. Approximately half the work-out space is devoted to cardio machines, and there's an upstairs where classes are held. I always thought DAC was great for families. It's located at Cox Park where the baseball and soccer fields are. So, it's convenient if the family is involved in those activities as well. However, they do not have a pool; nor do they have a sauna, steam or whirlpool. No big deal for me, but some people demand those things.

This gym is fine overall, it's a large facility full of a nice assortment of equipment that seems…read moreto be reasonably well maintained although it might not be the most modern. LifeFitness and Hammer Strength equipment makes up the vast majority of it. They also have UV radiation beds and massage chairs if that's your thing. The employees are all friendly, polite, and attentive to their members' needs, and at least one of them is usually actively cleaning equipment or tending to general housekeeping duties. The main issue that I find with this location is the membership base. The lack of manners & consideration for others that seems to be very typical of the Memphis metro (from the view of a transplant) is on full display here. Simple courtesies like not tying up equipment for 15mins so that you can take a phone call or browse social media instead of working out, or the common courtesy and widely accepted "gym etiquette" of wiping off equipment after you've used & sweated all over it is almost non-existent. If you show these simple manners, you're a valuable minority at this club. Some hours of the day this facility seems to turn into a sort of "after-school care" for teenagers impeding the workout routines of the adult membership also. I really wish the staff would remind, coach, and enforce these rules & gym going behavioral norms (they have signage posted around the club) but that doesn't seem to be a priority for them. Overall the location is good, the 24hr aspect is convenient, and the price is right. So it's a solid 3/5 with room for improvement.
